Quite annoying that, would've suited us perfectly. Suppose was always more likely he move nearer to home if he was leaving Dundalk.

Danny O'Reilly and Sam Verdon signing for Harps from us apparently. Very good First Division players and big losses for us but it'll be interesting to see if they can perform at Premier Division level. That's three of our best players gone now, McGlade will follow suit no doubt. Fenn has a lot of work to do if we're to compete.

Dan turned down an offer from Drogheda, wasn’t about money just wanted Premier ball. Can’t blame them. The lack of backing Fenn is getting is a disgrace

Aborah staying in the league? He's a lovely player.
I don't think he will. There was a whisper that your lot were interested in him, but you're hardly getting another centre mid. He's an amazing player and if he could stay on the pitch, he might have proven himself the best in the whole league, but I'd say his career is littered with IFs. If he could just.....but he's in his thirties now so unlikely to change. He's a gent off the pitch, but the red mist comes down if he thinks he's been wronged.

How was Keegan for you this year?
He's as valuable off the field as on it. He's the ultimate pro so he was the perfect captain and his attitude filtered through the team. On the pitch, he is ageing but still very good. He got an injury in May and took him a while to recover his best form. At his age, he's not meant to play on plastic pitches, but we were stuck so he played in Dundalk and went down early with an injury that took a good while to shake. He had been brilliant at the start of the season, playing at the base of a diamond where he just shielded the defence and played it simple, allowing Hery, Aborah and others run the midfield. He was back to his best in the last few months of the season and settled us down when the jitters were appearing in the run-in. I know it was virtually your B team, but the game in Dalymount in September was a good example. When we got the lead, himself, Aborah, Hery and Puri just kept the ball for the rest of the game. I'd love us to have that experience around, especially when it comes to the European games. Hunty is a big loss for that reason too. We've offered Keegan a player-coach role, but it sounds like he's set on moving back to Dublin. Bohs have such a young team, and so many good youngsters coming through, that he'd be the perfect man to show them the ropes.

Still mainly tumbleweed around the RSC at the moment. Only four players announced for next season. Some of last season's team were in negotiations last week so I expect a few re-signings soon (I expected them last week too!). Bit worrying. Rennie seems to be finding it very hard to attract players ahead of the Dublin clubs in particular unless they're paid over the odds. There's some talk of a Colombian who plays in Norway and rumours of Keohane being a done deal, but I wish they'd hurry up and announce people.

We're after signing Cian Coleman off Limerick. I know I've seen him play before by virtue of going to give or take every Pats game but I can't say I've ever really noticed him at all. Any use?
Good player, one of Limericks best players last year. I know our fans were wondering if he'd end up back with us this year.

He played underage for Cork City. I was surprised we let him go to Cobh when we did. I'm even more surprised that we haven't gone to bring him home from Limerick. He's performed very well against us when I've seen him.

Yeah i'm surprised Cork City didn't go in for him either. Maybe too similar to Morrissey and Buckley?
Cian played quiet well for Limerick I thought for most of the season but fell away towards the tail end. He has a very good engine. He's tall and imposing and gets about. Very impressive physically. I think he needs to improve he's passing game if he is going to break into a top half team. Needs to get more comfortable on the ball and be able to spray it quicker. He may not be required to do that at Pats as they have other creative midfielders who possess that.
Dane Massey to Rovers for the 2020 season
To Rovers in 2021 actually !! It was a 2 year deal he signed today for Dundalk.

I would imagine sbgawa is factoring in the "project" maturing in 2020, selling a few 13 year olds for millions and throwing the mother of all kitchen sinks at Massey

I presume that at the club awards on Saturday you'll be calling the two men who have kept our club afloat financially "a disgrace" to their faces.
Attendances didn't shoot up that much last season, despite us playing Fenn-ball. So, why should the club just start paying crazy money?

Not asking anyone to spend crazy money and we won’t have a chance at the title given what Shels have invested but the division looks set to be fairly weak next season, we have to be looking for promotion through the play offs.

It was f*cking horrible seeing him in a Shels shirt but that doesn’t take away from his unbelievable service to the club. I thought when Dave Mooney left we’d never see a goal machine like him again and while Sully was operating at a lower level he really was something else in full flow. So many great memories

Ok disgrace was the wrong word but at the moment our squad is significantly weaker than last season, even if we keep McGlade we have an awful amount of work still to do. Club gave Tony cousins fantastic backing in 2014 and Fenn is clealry a better manager so would like to see him get the same sort of resources.

Let's see if Fenn can win/achieve something before he can be regarded as 'clealry' a better manager. Cousins persevered with us on a small budget for 4 years before the 2014 season. Will Fenn have the patience do the same? I'll always have a question over his character given the way he 'retired' from Dundalk

Don’t think it’s fair to judge his character over something that happened years ago when he was a player, he’s done great work in the community and brought a good feeling back to the club, that been said im sure he’s aware as anyone that all the good football and popularity with fans in the world won’t be enough to save him if we have a disappointing season next year, hel be judged on results like everyone else.

There’s a long way to go in the off season. If the squad is looking poor by February then start to worry. None of our theoretical rivals aside from Shels have done much either.

Just hoping there might be a few surprises in store Saturday night. As you said Shels have stole a march but they have the cash to do so. Harps proved last season the importance of finishing 2nd that has to be our aim

Do people think clubs have stores of cash they're just choosing not to spend depending who the manager is
?
If only our clubs had that sort of forward planning to have cash reserves built up!
Generally the money spent is the money available.

Yeah I really rated him last time he was with us. Hopefully he has a similar role here because I think he has the right temperament and personality to carve a career in coaching. Possibly still has a year or two left at LOI level too. You can understand his move. Lunney is a good player going the other way too. He has great flair. Lots of tricks and skill moves and nutmegs etc. He really grew as the season progressed. That's the type of player we should be aiming to keep. going forward.

That list is pretty out-dated at this stage. Quite a lot of the players on the list have been signed up already by clubs.
I'd suspect even a few that are out training with the PFAI and looking to play their pre-season tour games have already agreed deals with teams.
Do they still go to the FIFPRO tournament?

Soz,didn't realise the list was out of date.
As for the FIFPRO tounament - they(PFAI) don't seem to be pushing out as much promotion for it this year as they have previously so maybe they've used their turns?

If I had to describe Boylan in one word, it would be 'frustrating'.
Make no mistake he is talented. He has two very good feet although he is average in the air. When he came on the scene in the Showgrounds I really thought we had a young John O'Shea on our hands. He could play in a number of positions and slotted in with ease. He has had some decent performances and when's he is playing well he will stand out. He has been given plenty of opportunities by a number of Rovers managers and some trials over the water too, but unfortunately he just never kicked on or been consistent enough for what ever reason. Being torn between LOI and the gah hasn't helped either. Good luck to him, be interesting to see how he does with Cork, especially after a bad injury last season too.
