He's under contract, doesn't happen too often in the LOI, will we be due a fee if he moves?

Yes...

The LOI is far from the Hollywood lifestyle. Browne has a young family, and is reportedly building a house and got a full time job. And it's been noted that he hates the travelling. Personally think Browne is making a very sensible decision. Gets to play closer to home, next to no traveling and has got several additional hours free weekly that he could spend with he's family. The chap is clearly looking at life beyond football. Which you can't blame him for as the LOI most certainly does not set you up for life after football and he isn't getting any younger.

Always been known that Fletch has been a home bird. Just look at the 2011 season where he dropped down to the first division when Waterford looked like they may go somewhere. But didn't and haven't since. Don't think it's lack of ambition at all. Purely a case of wanting to be at home.

And on top of that when Cork fans are making up rumours about him and spouting all sorts about him. Throughout the web, you can't blame the chap for not wanting to there. Fletch has denied he refused to play for Cork tonight.

Appreciate the potential!! I dont know how Harps are set up for training but with McCourt saying that he couldnt adjust to part-time training in the Irish League I hope Harps, like other clubs in the league, although train in the evenings nearly put in F-T training hours in the evening. Obviously he has had a bit of a preseason with Dundalk, I think he would have been signed if his fitness had been up to it. If that is the case that he is a busted flush it would be a pity as there are few players that were such a joy to watch play as Paddy McCourt! I really hope it works out for both player and club!

Apparently, it would have taken too long to get his fitness to the right level.

The skill is still there though.

Robbie Keane is training with Shamrock Rovers at the minute.

According to Dan McDonnell, Rovers have confirmed it's just to maintain his fitness levels and a permanent move to Tallaght isn't on the cards: http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/league-of-ireland/robbie-keane-eyes-next-move-as-he-trains-with-shamrock-rovers-35511940.html

The all-time record Ireland goalscorer was linked with a move to the Hoops earlier this year but dismissed the idea out of hand and there is no expectation that a stint on the training ground with the Hoops will lead to anything.

Rovers sources have stressed that Keane's involvement with the League of Ireland side is based around maintaining his fitness and is unlikely to extend beyond the end of this week. But his presence at Rovers' new Roadstone base yesterday was a pleasant surprise to the Rovers squad with Keane linking up in training with his good friend Damien Duff who is a member of Stephen Bradley's first team coaching staff.

It's a pity the likes of Duff and Fahey ended up retiring early.
Having Keane, Duff, Fahey and even McPhail in the one team would have been some novelty for the league.

It wasn't. Lee Power said it was, but it's not above the 80k paid by Drogheda for Eamon Zayed.

Is it a fact though?

It's been said the fee was in the region of €17k and the record LOI fee is apparently 80k which Drogheda paid Bray for Zayd. It is thought the reference by Power was in relation to either a club record or first division record. It is thought the club record was £15k for Mike Devine and that it was broken in the off season.

I heard the following on the situation.
Fletch asked to leave before Christmas for personal reasons. It's been said he recently got a full time job and is in the process of building a house. That's not mentioning he has got a young family in Waterford. He also hated the travelling back and forth numerous times a week. Caulfield thought he'd be able to hold onto him but if Fletch was to leave Waterford would have to pay a fee. In turn Caulfield signed Griffin and Delaney. The closer it got to transfer deadline day Fletch said he didn't want to play for Cork this year not that he wouldn't play as been said by some Cork fans. Caulfield sent him back home. Waterford FC came forward offered a fee, Cork accepted and Fletch went on to sign for he's local club and was announced as a deadline day signing along with Derek Daly from Chesterfield, Jake Evans and Tom Smith on loan from Swindon and Ian McLoughlin free agent and lastly with MK Dons.

The following is an interview from Fletch with the Mirror http://www.irishmirror.ie/sport/soccer/kenny-browne-denies-manager-john-9863970#ICID=sharebar_twitter

Obviously, fans are going to be partizan when it comes to their own club, but i don't really see much wrong that Kenny has done wrong here. These are not millionaires, they're living in the real world like the fans.

One of the most ridiculous shouts of abuse i hear at LOI grounds is when players get called money grabbings ***** or whatever. I've no problem with any LOI player going to another club if for a few bob more (not that i'm saying this is the case with Kenny Browne).

Kenny is happy, Cork have got a fee, there's nothing really much to it.

Bolger would walk into any team in the league, he'd be absolutely insane to go to Waterford. I can imagine him being annoyed at not winning his place back immediately, but the competition has been great and he came back with a fantastic performance Friday. Maybe he is unhappy, who knows, but if the height of his ambition at the peak of his career was to go to the first division instead of fighting to start in Europe, best of luck to him. I very much doubt it though.

Morrisey's injured. Basically we've got 3 absolutely top quality centre mids fighting for 2 positions, for most games one of them has been injured or suspended but Caulfield has a big call to make, or to rejig, to keep all three happy. All 3 have been immense this year.

Where do you think he plays now?

Our midfield is McCormack, Morrissey and Buckley. McCormack is the defensive mid, Morrissey carrys the ball forward and Buckley is the furthest forward. Bolger can't play in Buckleys role. We tried him in Morrisseys place on Monday. I wasn't there so no idea how well that worked out. But the problem is that one of McCormack, Morrissey and Bolger will miss out and they are all playing really well.

That's the beauty of having a strong squad where every player needs to be on their toes to get a game.
Multiple players for multiple positions.

Bolger sees himself as a 1st name on the teamsheet player so wouldnt be that fussed on a squad rotation system. It isnt that hard to bruise his ego so its not beyond possible that he is talking up a move even if it is to get Caulfield to put him in when fit. McCormack is a more club orientated type and while obviously wouldnt be happy to be out of the side he is less likely to kick up a fuss. If Waterford pony up and he wants to move it can happen but realistically when Europe is looming and with a decent draw he will settle down again especially with games coming thick and fast and players have to be rotated assuming injuries and suspensions are not picked up.

Sorry only seeing this now. Well he told Kenny Browne who's his best mate from their Pats days followed by Cork. Same for Reynolds - as opposed to Caulfield who he hates. He's from Wexford, says he wants to leave Cork, knows he'd be on good money and the presumption would be we'd be in the Premier Division next year. So from his point of view, it'd be a temporary step down for a few months. Not sure if it'll happen but this is a rumours thread.

I`m sure the Cobh lads might have something to say about this, never assume, plus you could be a point behind them in second place after this weekend if they beat you in St Colmans.

On Bolger though. I`m not sure he is the type of personality to fight for his place, would def agree he would see himself as an auto pick, interesting to see what happens, but Cork will have plenty of games this season for all to play a part.

No I mean that HE would assume that Waterford would be promoted. I'm taking nothing for granted although I do think we'll end up on top come October. Huge game tonight. Could be a point behind Cobh or five ahead of them.

The window to sign amateur players opens on June 1st, while professional players can be signed from the beginning of January.

There's a new system proposed in the Conroy Report, comes in next season apparently.

One player from each club is selected to take part in a Hunger Games style contest (featuring monkeys and knives obviously). The winning player earns two transfers for his team. The losers are banished to Athlone.

Typical half arsed FAI approach to a perfectly good idea.
