I think my team's players are better in their respective positions than your team's players, who are worse. :good:

Nonsense!! Stephen Kenny's specially hand picked and crafted footballers are a lot less worser(sic) than ANY other players no matter what the position FACT!!!!

Stephen Kinsella is entirely different. He has been decimated with injury this season and therefore has had little opportunity to command a regular place in the first team. He just turned 19 in August and his Everton contract is due to run to next summer. I would be delighted if a deal was done for him to stay at Oriel Park next season

I know he's young, but I didn't see anything in him at Pats last year to suggest he's going to be much of a player. Was genuinely surprised when Dundalk signed him. He might prove me wrong of course....

Who else did ye sign besides McCormack??

Also lot of people misunderstanding the meaning of the word "rumours" itt.

Take Barry McNamee to Limerick - Now there's a rumour.

For the record we're more likely to sign a new back four of Barry Mcguigan, Barry White, Big Boy Barry and that Barry on EastEnders that Janine killed.

Never a chance of McCormack going to Dundalk. Bad blood there apparently, could have gone elsewhere though. Morrissey signed up too. Both 2 year contracts

I saw that Morrissey signed alright, I was just wondering who the other one of the "two of the best midfeilders in the league" was along with McCormack.

If there's bad blood it's even more confusing the absolute load thats been shot at mccormack today.

I reckon sir stephen kenny has played a blinder here.

Not sure tbh. Some prior issue that had him saying he wouldn't play for ye. Not sure if it's an issue with an individual or not. But sure, enough of an increase in money would fix most things I'd imagine. I'd say there's probably not much of a difference between what both clubs would offer him though. Although rumour does say Shep has gotten a big wage increase to tempt him away. Never know what to believe with these things though

If you're trying to imply Morrissey isn't one of the best midfielders in the league we're watching different games! Wouldn't swap him and McCormack for anyone, great partnership.

No idea what McCormack is getting, not overly bothered. Our most important player/signing. Glad it's sorted.

I assume the lims fan is trying to fish there, implying McCormack is now in huge money. What that has to do with dundalk is anyone's guess..
Great little player for Rovers in his day, and always conducted himself with grace. Glad he got a league winners medal.
Was he not played at the back for cork tho, instead of midfield?

Played at right back and centre back at the start of the season to cover for injuries. Moved into midfield shortly after and was a revelation.

Started at the back, mostly right back, because we were short players there and we were trying to fit him and Bolger and Morrissey in. Quickly became clear he needed to play in the middle though and Bolger needed to be benched. To relegate one I our best players of recent years to the bench showed how good he was. He was absolutely immense and any game he doesn't start we play a lot worse. Most important player for next year for me.

Nonsense about McCormack. Day after we won the league in 2014 he was in the pub with all the Dundalk players the next day. Ive seen him around town with SOD and John Mountany many times, so their is obvs no bad bloos

I've no idea about any bad blood but there is a huge difference between getting on with players and getting on with clubs, especially in this league

Agree with that. My guess is that because he's a local lad but has never played for us the "bad blood" rumour surfaced. He's had an exceptional season and is a major re-signing for Cork but the truth is in the previous 4 seasons he wouldn't have got near the Dundalk midfield.

Maybe he was shafted by the previous regime, who wasn't?

A comment born of ignorance.

McCormack has been a good signing by Cork, but it is nonsense to allege that there is bad blood with Dundalk.

Wishful thing, perhaps.

The 'bad blood' stuff is born from him never being involved with Dundalk FC yet he is local. There was issues between Dundalk FC and Dundalk Schoolboys League in the past and as McCormacks move to Manchester United was from his schoolboy club rather than via Dundalk FC people put 2 and 2 together and have made 5. Some youngsters had chosen to play with Shels as a pathway to the youth ranks abroad over Dundalk and that isnt bad blood either, its just what they saw as the best chance at the time. Dundalk have made approaches to sign him but he moved from Italy to the league champions of the time and had the run in Europe with Rovers, Pats were champions when moving again after the Rovers stint so why drop down a level to Dundalk at that time. His stock fell a bit with St Pats and he chose Derry supposedly as game time at Dundalk, then champions, would be limited. Cork were very astute to sign him as he was very good at Derry too even with changes in management etc. I dont know if Dundalk tried to sign him for 2017 but i suspect not as Clifford was signed for role that McCormack plays and O'Donnell too when fit (Shields too of course). Looking back McCormack signing rather than Clifford and the season would have been very different as not only did we miss someone to fill the O'Donnell role, McCormack was standout in the games against us and what we lacked when O'Donnell was injured. Dundalk would certainly try to turn his head and it would be no surprise if Cork have splashed the cash to keep him.

McCormack re-signs for Cork because he contributed immensely to Cork's title success/and in return Cork offer decent length of contract/wages etc. etc.

Half of the players in the Premier Division are mates with each other/have been previous teammates/or know each other from having pints - any socialising with each other means zero and is hilarious to suggest that's an influence.

He's from Louth so I'm sure if Dundalk offered similar conditions he would have gone there without hesitation but his current style of football suits Cork more than Dundalk. Dundalk/Kenny have not made same offer so he's made a very good decision from a professional standpoint and best of luck to him.

Agree 100% with Dell.

There is a perceived notion among some LOI fans that there is bad blood between McCormack and Dundalk fc and i think it came from a few posts that originated from Orielweb a long long(long long) time ago and it's totally untrue.

We already have players here that fill his role and style and i doubt SK had ant interest in signing him.

Dinny and Eoin Wearen signed for Bohs tonight
Akinade being heavily touted by Waterford, full time 12 month contract offered.Dundalk also competing
Same last year when he reportedly had been signed by Sligo and the other Rovers had an offer in for him .May well stay with Bohs if so many other players are re -signing.
Hopefully Ward signs too , class player for us but no one else.
Sule, player of the year, well deserved.

Great to retain both of them. Wearen plagued by injuries but when fit he knows how to find the back of the net. Dinny was pure class this season.

It would be a great way way to sign off. Naturally, I hope that doesn't happen.

The move is due to family reasons apparently, and wanting to get back to the east coast. I think he will suit the way we play.

Would be like Kevin O’Connor signing for Longford after keeping them down by scoring an absolute screamer in the dying minutes for Bray in the 2013 play off final. He made up for it by being a magician during our 2014 title win. Sheppard is one of the best wide men in this league, I just hope that’s what Kenny has signed him as and not a striker he’s not half as effective up there, a great work horse though it has to be said.

Sheppard a big loss to us but if rumours are to be believed about Benson and McMillan going to Scotland I think it evens things up. A lot depends on the replacements Caulfield and Kenny bring in.

Vemmuland Defo leaving too. Everyone talking about the rebuilding Caulfield will have to do but if Kenny is to lose Vemmuland, Benson, McEleney and Benson he basically has to go out and find the best players in those positions in the league or find talent from abroad. It’s a shame nobody else is anywhere near the level of Cork and Dundalk or this would certainly be the off season to catch them on the hop.

One decent off season can make a huge difference though. I think Rovers aren't too far away, huge potential in the players the have. I don't think they'll manage to bridge the gap with Bradley, but it would only take a couple of decent signings and a bit of sense.

Rovers need to flesh out the squad a bit. We had 3 teenagers starting last Friday and 5 more on the bench.
Injuries and suspensions leave us threadbare very quickly. Happy with having young players in the team Bolger at 17 is on the field on Merit and I expect him to start every match next season ditto Trevor Clarke but as Alan Hanson said "You'll win nowt with kids".

Personally, I don't think Rovers will bridge the gap, unless we can find a decent keeper and striker(hopefully outside LOI circles).
Discipline us something to work on , but skill/ability is either there or it's not.
If dalk lose McMillan and gain only Sheppard up front, they will struggle to match cork( assuming cork find a striker of their own).
Murray from Galway is being rumoured.
Separately, Rovers need to find a way to beat the dross, like pats and drogs, to be able to really challenge.

Thought Shawn did well this season, linked with St Johnstone (although what loi player isn’t at the moment). I can’t see rovers bridging the gap with Bradley in charge plus rovers may very well lose Clarke and O’connor if reports are to be believed and im sure Burke’s goal in Europe made a few scouts aware of him too. Derry, dundalk, cork and Rovers may have major rebuilding to do, its Bohs year 😂
