Zenit already a different team to two weeks ago.

Could be a long night for Dundalk ahead.

A buddy of mine (not a big football fan) happened to find himself in St Petersburg on holidays and, unable to get a ticket in the Dundalk end (unsurprisingly), has eventually decided to bite the bullet and pile in with the Russians....

Couple of Derry fans living in Moscow are at it. Managed to get Dundalk end tickets too, handily enough.

Rogers almost went.

No ice and that's a goal.

Zenit having a very dangerous spell last 10. Dundalk, as ever, playing some nice stuff at times. Missed the first 15 mins or so getting home from work.

Argh... worst type of goal to concede again

It would be Gartland.

Horrendous goal to give away after all that.

pineapple stu
03/11/2016, 5:44 PM
That was coming unfortunately, though Dundalk are playing ok all things considered.

Does goal difference or head-to-head decide places (after points)?

osarusan
03/11/2016, 5:45 PM
Martin Russell would have been proud of how they conceded that one.

ah man, just like the last game why did they need to pass it back so short........

They'll be glad of half time anyway, composure was lost a bit there. I've been saying to anyone I was speaking to today that losing 3-0 or better is still a very respectable result. Not completely out of it yet either, especially if Zenit thinks it's won now and come out complacent.

0-0 in Israel at half time, which has to suit Dundalk

Would still be 2nd as is if head to head is the deciding factor.

Goal difference and then goals scored as far as I'm aware.

Just checking wiki there and that's right - although livescore are showing Dundalk in third at present.

But basically, a hammering not the end of the world here. Hopefully it won't happen of course, but obviously zenit have shown they know where the net is; they're easily top scorers in the groups.

Sweet mother of jesus.

Indeed. Terrific finish from Horgan. Missed the first half buț they've done great from what I've seen so far in the second. Hope they can hold on for the draw, or, who knows.........

They are seriously raising the bar for League of Ireland football. Hopefully others will follow suit.

United 2-0 down in Turkey and going out as things stand (with two more matches to go of course). That'd be funny.

Is Benson on the bench?

I can't watch the match because it would be rude.

So I missed Horgan's goal.

This meal better be good.

0-0 result in Israel.

Great Dundalk performance, but no question the better team won. But Dundalk have to take heart and believe they can still get through. Keep playing like that and they've every chance.

SkStu

Good performance all round but defensive lapses the causes of the goals. What was that pass out from Gartland (I think) that led to the second goal? Huge error in judgement given how much pressure the midfielder was under. And they still had chances to clear. They responded very well though. A credit to themselves and the domestic game.

bennocelt
03/11/2016, 6:54 PM
yeah good game, put it upto them and were a tad unlucky in the end again, if they play like that in the last two games they have a real chance

White Horse

Very good performance against a quality side. Unbelievable skill from Horgan and McEleney.

A couple of poor passing choices from Gartland was the difference this evening.

They'll need to be beating Alkmaar in Tallaght and hope Zenit do a job on Maccabi. Going to be very difficult, but they have proven themselves capable of it already.

Beat alkmaar and hope zenit beat maccabi. Very realistic chance this will happen

ger121
03/11/2016, 7:07 PM
Down to 3rd. Not based on head to head. Goal difference first, then goals scored. As Maccabi have scored 1 more, they move up to 2nd.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016–17_UEFA_Europa_League

2 draws would do them. I think Zenit will beat Maccabi at home and at worse get a draw in Alkmaar.

Home match v Feyenoord and away v Zora left. I'd still back them to go through.

Think that wiki page is wrong. UEFA have Dundalk in 2nd after 4 games
