Ticketmaster are a terrible terrible company I've seen it first hand.

I genuinely don't think it will have much bearing on the crowd though.

People know it's not sold out if they want to go they'll go

Anyone know what are the costs to hire Aviva for one match?

Apples and oranges, BATE had only played 3 low intensity CLQ games when they took Dundalk for granted at Tallaght, while Legia are well into their domestic campaign and will not take Dundalk for granted and will have watched the videos and unlike BATE have never had CLG before and Dundalk have to raise it to those very best again and not lose concentration for one second over ninety minutes and Dundalk look to have tired legs since Tallaght plus just because Dundalk won at carpet the last time that it was priced right because in my mind it wasn't, and this time it isn't but even more so.

I make Legia 4/7 the danger is they might come to get a score draw, and then turn it on in the Army Stadium, but if that is not the plan then Legia -1 11/4 is the bet.

Not trying to rain on Dundalk's parade, I have backed against our own mob when the price demanded it, and was glad to lose when we didn't and slightly consoled when we did.
Legia are clearly favourites. Your prediction mightn't be too wide of the mark but hopefully you are wrong.

Steaua doing a nice job of what hopefully Dundalk can avoid - 5-0 down at home to Man City, and City have missed two penalties and hit the woodwork five times. Aguero has a hat-trick and missed from the spot both times.

So as long as Dundalk do better than that, happy days! :)

Jesus dude, ever heard of a full stop? 😉

I was Charles Dickens in a previous life, I exchanged my talent in exchange to see Halham FC win the '67 Youdan Cup, we won, he took the talent, left me the long sentences, Cecilia Ahern has the talent now , her dad sold Ireland to get it, but at least nobody can now say my output was overrated compared to Thackeray, I can't even get a composition sung in the Showgs now.

Other way around. BATE were halfway through their season. Legia are only a month in.

I'm not sure that 24,000 figure it too believable as total tickets sold. There's also the North Stand to remember and the likelihood of a good sized Legia support there, likely to bump up the figure by another 2,000 or so, most likely not included in any tickets sold so far as reported at the press conference.

The lower tiers are sold out, there's no doubt about that. In the upper tiers, the East Stand and South Stand are sold out. They're currently selling for Block 523 and 524 on Ticketmaster. Leaves only 5 blocks of seats in the upper tier.

Of those seats, upper and lower tiers, there's 38,700 of them. If there's roughly 800 seats in each block on average of the five blocks left, that leaves something in the region of 4,000 tickets unsold of the 'standard' seating.

There's also been €30 premium seats for sale, although I can't imagine much more than 500 of those sold.

If there's not 30,000 tickets sold already in total, then there's something seriously wrong with the way Ticketmaster are going about their sales.

Google only showed CL games for them, they had 3 league games prior to Tallaght according to soccerway , price now 2.16 on betfair, which I will take, Dundalk two draws with harharhar or wherever they were called, and Cork's exit to Ghent and your mobs performance this year is more representative than the BATE tie of the LOI, there is also the possibility that Dundalk freeze on the night, Legia won't be bothered, they have to go Lech Poznan every season so an Aviva of mostly bandwagons won't faze then, not saying there won't be a home result, just that Legia are to big in my opinion.

I doubt BATE were that fazed by a 3/4 full Tallaght either - Dundalk made plenty of noise but it's an open stadium as you know. I'd have said, having seen both BATE and Legia a handful of times over the years, that BATEhave better players. And their ranking/performances suggest they're a better team too. Still, it'll be a bigger ask I'd say just for what round is in it.

May be Dundalk have sent back some of their unsold tickets back? I seen on Twitter that Legia will have 750 supporters in their official end. They were allocated 2,000 in total.

Technically though, it usen't be Champions League until the group stages, has that changed. It's qualifers, so I kinda see what they are getting at.

I hope no through the legs from rogers or not covering the near post, or a missed place out of defense pass tonight :P

the ranking/performances suggest a better team the last few seasons, this year who knows. If we are to rely on the bare figures, Legia coefficient is of a magnitude 4.5 greater than Dundalk's which could be compared to sending a Derby winner to Tranmore to win a 30-40 handicap, but this is football.

The round is a big issue the fact is that Dundalk have returned triumphant from the peak of Everest only to be told you left an ice pick up there go back up and get it, the longer it goes on the harder it gets, we are nowhere near the standard of the top leagues with similar populations like Norway and I tend to see the BATE result as an aberration rather than a progression.

My heart says Dundalk tonight but my head and consequently my wallet says 6/5 Legia on Betfair.

Polish lad at work reckons Legia are there for the taking and that they are not as good as they used to be in other seasons. Of course that doesn't mean they still aren't good enough to beat a decent LOI side.

Ticketmasters handling of the ticket sales has been a shambles.

The club are also culpable for not ensuring that all regular fans were able to get decent tickets

What do you mean? Were some Oriel regulars not quick enough getting to the ticket office and got stuck with tickets at the corner flag or something?

I am disinclined to debate it further today.
I don't wish to dwell on negatives and would prefer to focus on today's fantastic occasion. But perhaps I may revisit this on another day

I've been having a look at the pots and I think the most favourable group draw would be Barcelona, Basel/Sporting and Arsenal/Dortmund.

Beside the obvious prestige factor, I think Barcelona's defensive frailties can be best exploited by McMillan's pace out of all the top seeds, the two pot two sides are beatable and your Arsenal and Dortmund sides won't be able to deal with the Irish surface. Do we all agree or are people hoping for a different outcome come next Thursday?

Legia were 2.3 on Betfair, when I posted about it last 1.89 now, so if you lay off now to lock in a 14% return for an afternoons investment, better than the bank are giving, Or else have a no risk bet on Legia returning .41c for euro invested. Glad that you got your bet on.
