When it comes to anything Iceland, Bohs fans really should just gracefully stay silent :)
FH could have drawn the unseeded Swedish champions, who in all probability would have been stronger than Dundalk. FH are not at all unhappy with drawing Dundalk, they note on their website that their hated rivals KR beat a team who are just a point behind Dundalk (at the time of the draw) and therefore FH are inspired not to do worse than KR.
FH are a 'slightly' better team than Thor of Akureyri.
They also could have gotten a much kinder draw and you well know it. Dundalk certainly got the best possible seeded side they could have hoped for.
Not sure what Bohs, Thor etc... have got to do with this fixture? No matter how good you think FH are compared to Dundalk or LOI in general, there is a very good chance they could get knocked out. Time will tell.

I'm in Belfast late next week for a bit of work and will be able to take in the Cork/Linfield game. I hope there is a big crowd travelling up from Cork City. The atmosphere should be great. Given the rivalry we've had with Cork over the last couple of seasons, it will feel strange cheering them on. But it is Linfield they are playing so that will make it easier.

Aw shucks, did Bohs not make it to Iceland this year? :)
Very Graceful.

Youll have to go in the home end, theres fierce hassle over tickets for City fans for this game.

Really? It's not like it is a small stadium and hard to segregate fans. Certainly wasn't a problem when Bohs played up there years ago in the SSC. City could bring up a huge crowd and it would be extra money for Linfield. Those Protestants, always up to no good:p

Think I'd prefer to be with your lot. Are Linfield playing silly beggars over the away allocation? It's a massive stadium and there's no way they will sell it out. Though, there is a huge buzz in the North after Norn Iron doind so well in the Euros. Perhaps, there will be more home fans than normal.
Home end it is then, time to grow a moustache.

Only members and season ticket holders can buy tickets. Many non eligible fans had already booked the trip before ticketing details were announced. Luckily I have my ticket, but I hope it doesn't create rather than prevent problems.

I wish all the sides success in their European games & hope they all make it through.
Success can only be for the good of the League of Ireland.
Alot of money has come in for Pats,Jeunesse in mid season and have lost their 2 best players during the transfer window. 9 players out 8 new signings

Tre Penne (San Marino) have equalised against TNS!
Pats Starting XI:
Clarke
O'Brien - Dennehy - Hoare - Bermingham
G. Kelly - Cawley - Treacy
Byrne - Fagan - Dennehy

Still 1-0; 10 minutes to go.
Pat's seemed to start off well, but have lost the thread since half-time (just going on extratime.ie's updates). Esch have missed a sitter and had a shot cleared off the line this half. Pat's struggling up front. 1-0 would be a bit tight for comfort for the away leg, and 1-1 would be horrible.

A win is a win I guess - let's see what Pat's fans reckon of the performance.

FT 1-0. Got the last 10 minutes of the Pat's commentary live on the net, sounded fairly poor. They seemed content to win the game, but said it probably should have been better.

At least it ends a 9 game unwinnable run (8 defeats, 1 draw) for LOI Clubs!
Liam Buckleys 5th European Win from 23 games. Also, his first clean sheet in 11 games, last was v IBV in 2012.
His away record: W-1 D-3 L-7 F-11 A-23.
He has never achieved a clean sheet AWAY. His only AWAY Win was in 2003 v Odra Wodzisław
Burnsie

watched it as a neutral (or, at least, not a Pats fan)...
Thought Esch were pretty dire overall. First 20 minutes in particular they were all over the place. Had no interest in getting their players upfield, so their ineptitude with the ball simply presented Pats with loads of dangerous possession. Added to that. their keeper was completely hopeless dealing with crosses, either flapping wildly or rooted to his line, and Pats must have missed three or four free headers in and around the six yard box.
Second half Pats had loads of the ball but struggled to make any chances - a lot of sloppy through-balls and wayward crosses. I can only remember one decent effort on target from Fagan, whereas the visitors missed a sitter at the other end which would have turned the tie in their favour. The fullback O'Brien was impressive - Dennehy at centre half less so. Fagan was far too isolated up front, despite some good movement off the ball. oh and as for Keith Treacy... when I heard Pats had made a big signing....

Decent first half performance from us could have been 2 or 3 up but we were shocking in the second half and they should have equalised. Kelly and Fagan were our better players while Tracey despite being a few stones overweight was also decent. B Dennehy and Conan Byrne were both terrible.

It was a woeful game of football really. Pats probably deserving of the win but had they won by more it would have flattered them. Esch were terrible but still shaded it in the second half.
No away goals scored and got the home win I suppose. An away goal for Pats and the tie is over.

There is no excuse for Pats not to go through even if they didnt finish the tie tonight. Even a fairly ropy Dundalk under Foster got the better of a Luxembourg side, and away the heat was nuts. There isnt a heatwave hitting the continent that should bother us pasty pale types so good job St Pats! Just dont chuck it away now.

Poor game dished up from two poor sides. I thought Juenesse were a woeful bad side & one of the worst I've seen us play in european football . It was great to get the early goal but there was more to be had. I'm sick of giving off about our lacklustre midfield this season, it's hard to know what awaits me in Luxembourg next week I'd take an away goal victory at this stage.

Pretty awful stuff last night, along with Olimps of Riga they were the worst team I've seen us play in Europa and I wouldn't even be surprised if they knocked us out next week :-/

Very accurate summary of the game by Burnsie above.
I thought this was one of Treacy's better performances however. Admittedly he played a wayward pass or two but that can be said for every Pats player - very sloppy and wasteful overall, against a side that were there to be hammered. He's def a stone or 2 overweight but showed a few touches of class today and a fair bit of effort.

Beer in Iceland is woeful. Gull being among the worst I've ever had. Plenty of pusb do "happy hour" so you don't end up paying more than 5 or 6 euro per pint. Some City fans found stuff way cheaper than that too so if you look around you might not end up paying too much.
Ah, it's not quite that bad. There's some decent craft around these days. Íslenski Barinn in Reykjavík is probably the best spot for decent beer, bang in the centre of town too. They also sell hákarl, the putrefied shark stuff. Worth a try.
Beers are generally €6-7, though you'll pay more in the centre of Reykjavík. You could do worse than lifting a few tins (and maybe a whiskey or two) at Dublin or Keflavík airport though.
Regarding Windsor Park, you'd likely be able to buy a ticket on the day and walk through the away entrance. They aren't that strict when it came to any IL game I was at.
A win is a win, especially in Europe. Don't knock it.
Their first win in 9 games and first clean sheet in 11 games in Europe
They're also off a 3 game losing streak which included a 4-0 loss away to Bohs.
Pats started brightly and deservedly lead at the half. Could and should have been more. In the second half they clearly prioritised keeping a clean sheet and just about got that. No doubt they'll need to up their performance significantly next Tuesday but they're in a good position to advance

Wouldn't imagine so. Unlikely even Dundalks CL game would even be on TV with Euros.
A shame really as this Linfield v City game in Windsor Park is an ideal one to promote both leagues on the island and could draw a bit of viewership for the novelty factor.

Harps v Crumlin in the FAI Cup was streamed on BWIN. Only realised around ten minutes from the end of the game as I assumed they were only for league games too. Be worth checking anyway, they've the same cameras in the Irish League so outside possibility of Linfield v Cork on there too.
