Are many expected to travel? Presumably Cork have the usual away end reserved for them.

Sounds like they will have 3-400 coming over. You would assume so yes.

What is the capacity for this game? 6,000, 7000?

Only 400 tickets left.

saw some Dundalk players arriving at Tallaght today for training but it was strange it looked like some players made their own way and then a few minutes later a team bus showed up. I didn't see who got off the bus but considering it arrived less than 20 minutes after I saw some Dundalk players walking in I doubt it was Bate because as far as I know the two teams get given different time frames to use the pitch so they dont clash and get the whole pitch. Would it be normal for teams to have some players on a bus and some make their own way when playing in Dublin since so many players are based there no matter who they play for?

Half the Dundalk squad live in the town, while the rest live in Dublin.

I'd say the Dundalk based players were on the bus while the Dublin based players made their own way to Tallaght. The entire squad trained in Taillight and then went to a hotel in Dublin where they will stay tonight.

People have already been disappointed this morning. I'd love to know how many we could actually get for this game if we had the capacity.

Hopefully no regular match goers at Turners Cross don't miss out.

They had plenty of opportunity to buy a ticket

Agreed, but guarantee some regulars who buy their tickets on the gate each week will miss out. Not much that can be done for that. Hopefully we can convert a few newcomers into regulars with a strong performance.

How are ticket sales going for tonight's game?

I see SK is having a right go at Louth CC and local politicians about the lack of any decent stadia in the County.

Liked the part where they approached the Council about a stage for FAI Cup Homecoming and were told that "We'll supply the Electricity but you will need to organise the stage"

The West Stand sold out yesterday. They were selling East Stand tickets in Oriel this morning. I haven't heard how many were sold.

The balance of the tickets are available for walk up support and neutrals tonight.

Stephen Kenny is quite right to have a go at the Council and local TDs. If it wasn't for Dundalk FC, the only thing Dundalk would be known for is as a hiding place for provos during the Troubles. Locals politicians have been of no help in any explanatory talks about funding a new stadium.

Locals politicians have been of no help in any explanatory talks about funding a new stadium.Kenny recalled how after Dundalk’s FAI Cup final win over Cork City in November, he wanted a stage erected in Market Square in the town.

He believed up to 20,000 supporters would turn up that night to cheer on his squad as they paraded the trophy.

But Kenny said: “We approached the council and were told they couldn’t provide a stage but they would provide the electricity.

“I actually thought that was a joke but they were actually serious that they would provide the electricity if we wanted to get our own stage.

“We actually ended up bringing the bus around the town but it was a sub-standard solution. It was a chance to get 20,000 people in Dundalk but there was no enthusiasm for that."

I don't think Kenny is the best at estimating crowds. Not an uncommon trait in the LOI I suppose.

Serious header for the goal if he meant that keeper had absolutely no chance.

Be interesting if they can keep it like that till 70.

Super goal. Dundalk upped their pressing and the pressure paid off.

McEleney's been very good since he came on.

A few nervy moments but it's really there for the taking now. Good performance so far from Dundalk overall.

This just got very interesting. Still the threat of the away goal of course, but if dundalk get the next goal, it could be a historic night for Irish football

Game on alright. Unfortunately Bate look well capable of upping it and scoring. Mixed feelings to be honest. On the one hand it would be great for an Irish team to take such a scalp, on the other hand I believe Dundalk stand to get 5 million for getting through. That could make them untouchable domestically.

paul_oshea
02/08/2016, 8:11 PM
I don't think you have to worry on that front.

Its started slow which should suit Dundalk and reserve some energy.

If they could get at one of these lads and get him sent off they could do it.

Wow.

Still the away goal will ruin it all, but this is staggering stuff given Dundalk's FH defence seem to be playing.

Dave McMillan once more.

This is actually a great game; end to end.

100 times better than anything Euro 2016 produced.

And nice to see the two goals created by some old-fashioned wing-play too - players eager to get on the ball and run at an opponent.

7 minutes to hang on - or to get a third?

Thought that was a free to BATE on the edge to be honest. There's shielding the ball back, and there's blatant obstruction.

Bit of a rub of the green for Dundalk as well?
