Chris Forrester has signed a new long term contract with pats
Actually signed now, signature and all, not a chat with the chap over a cup of tea months ago? Better announce this one!

I've always been a big fan of Keith Ward....well, since Last week anyway :-)
Depending on who else is signed its a decent signing. Likewise, ive always liked Ward and the way he plays the game. He was getting limited time at Bohs, was that management of his game time (at 31 he still should have something in the legs) or did he just drop down the pecking order? He is creative and is brave with always wanting to get on the ball and that is always needed in a team, he can also kill a close game by recycling possession and stopping a side from dropping too deep when hanging on. He is no Will Patching but yeah I could see where the thinking is if confirmed.

Of course you do! Quickly getting in and getting a star player signed up on a long term deal and announced publicly soon after. Lessons have been learned at St Pats. Owner up front an central for media rather than the manager - its steadying the ship and making a statement to fans. Forrester wouldnt have left St Pats, you said so yerself, well the club is just making sure of that now.

Right ! If you say so. Good to see that you know what the ins and outs of the contract situation with our former (not) manager were.
Any sign of Dundalk making that managerial announcement yet , or who is signing players for you ? Did SOD (off) organise or approve the Ward transfer ?
2 Year Contract

he can also kill a close game by missing a sitter like in Greece or blasting a penalty off the bar like in the Aviva
Fixed that for you :) and to answer your other questions he fell way down the pecking order at Bohs because their other wingers and attacking midfielders are all miles better than him at this stage, hence the massively impressive stats of being selected to start in just 12 games this season with 4 league goals in his last 105 league appearances. O'Donnell working his magic already

Yep that’s it, best midfielder in the league signed up and announced unlike your soon to be head coach who has is signing players for you but has still not been announced by your club despite publicly announcing he has handed his resignation into Pats (you know, what you do when you’re in contract at a club and want to leave)
Keith Ward is like the Irish Paul Dickov, pain in the arse player but you’d have him on your side. Like Nesta said, depends who Dundalk bring in.

Heard Bohs and Dundalk are interested in him.

Ive never claimed to know the ins and outs of the contract situation with your former 'manager'. There are very few who know the ins and outs and anything else is pure speculation. We've a ripe recent history of signing players and the coaching staff not have anything to do with it - which is most definitely the case with the Ward signing, honest! Like there wasnt a damage limitation scramble at St Pats lol.

Ward is a decent squad signing but if Fitzgerald is leaving Derry he is an excellent signing for someone.
He would be a perfect replacement for Duffy at Dundalk.

And yet there you were implying that the only deal done between Pats and aforementioned NotManager was over a nice cup of tea and a cosy chat. You’re right about it being speculation though. I know no more than you, which includes the fact that we have our manager situation sorted while you’re still waiting !

Dayle Rooney signed for Drogs from Shels - Shels views on him?
total hoofball

Dayle was our longest serving player disappointed he left us due to his work commitments not suiting Duff's training schedule. He is workrate is excellent, good attitude, as a left sided winger maybe not the paciest but he has decent skill and strength, I feel he could have developed further under different managers with fluid football than Morris' regimented system for the past 3 seasons
There’s Talent there if Doherty/Doyle can bring it out another good signing for Drogs

Happy with that synopsis as didn't know much about him myself. Hopefully Ryan Brennan will follow soon. Jake Hyland announced he's leaving today also, a great servant to the club over the last 6 years.
Also didn't realise Georgie Poynton was released, would happily take him at Drogheda too, pretty sure he lives locally.

Speaking of Shane Griffin is there two SGs in the top flight the one at St Pats and the one at Waterford? Just curious as was compiling end of season stats for us at the weekend!

Seemed a decent enough player but struggled to get a run of form whilst staying injury free.

Griffin was decent and I wouldn’t have minded keeping him as a backup left back but he’s not one that’ll be hard to replace. Solid in that he was probably never worse than a 5/10 but on the flipside probably never better than a 7/10 (which were quite rare)

Of course you do! Yup still waiting, hence if the Ward signing happens it wont at all be the work of a manager/head coach. We are in a dire situation and falling way behind other clubs on the player recruitment front so there is absolutely no need to offer new contracts to prevent Dundalk trying to sign anyone!!!

Cameron Dummigan signs for Derry, feels like a big loss for Dundalk that one….
We are also about to announce the signings of Daniel Kelly and Brandon Kavanagh.
We aren’t done there with Dundalk either.

Kavanagh is a hell of a talent, but will he find it hard to get time with both McEleney and Patching being similar players? Might be crowded out of the team, just like at Rovers.

I have no idea I must admit I know nothing about Kavanagh Rovers or possibly Bray fans would be better placed to let us know I suppose.

Super player on loan to Bray from Rovers, we will accept some of the Derry millions as a fee .

He scored a cracker against Utd in the play-offs in Terryland, a stand-out midfielder in the First Division. Not sure he's the player to bring Derry to the next level though, if he was that good he could have played with Rovers considering that they generally have a few young lads in their squad

He was/is considered good enough to be fair and was sent out to get more game time as opposed to playing a bit part like some of the kids with a view to coming back.
Id be happy to see him back but midfield is crowded at Rovers
Update: i see he has been announced.
Good luck to him, lovely stylish player

From what I remember: Great feet, good movement, intelligent and can shoot. Probably needs to bulk up a bit and improve his range of passing if he's going to be a top LoI player. Would have had no issue with him coming back to Rovers even as an option from the bench but unless he's come on a lot during his loan spell he would have been struggling for minutes ahead of Byrne, Burke, Watts, Mandriou, Aidomo etc.

Ian Bermingham confirmed for 13th season with Pats. Not that it was ever in doubt that the skipper would stay. That’s Lennon, Forrester, Bermingham, Burns, McCormack and Abankwah tied down so far from the first team regulars - with more to come.
