Sligo could just go further afield again. The hiring of Bucko was actually a little left field for them, as he was an established LOI Manager.

John Russell is strongly linked with the Sligo job he has his badges Vinny also linked too I see.

Ryan is a secondary school teacher in Dublin obviously he would be free during summer months for their training schedule but don't see how that could work for the run-in from September, I believe Morris was still living and working in Dublin which didn't exactly work out

He could take a career break maybe. Though doing so for any LOI manager's job, let alone Waterford's, isn't the smartest idea.

Reportedly question one in Richard Forrest's interview process is ‘who is your favourite footballer?’ And if the answer is anything but George Forrest he ends the interview there and then ;)

Surely it's not unreasonable for their owner to think an upcoming young manager would have swapped his recently achieved Wexford job and his public sector teaching job while having a young family for the gold plated job security of being Waterford manager who have sacked three managers in just the past 12 months? :)

Im surprised Waterford are taking so long to apppoint Ian Morris successor. I dont know if anyone here was listening to LOI Central but am I right in assuming that our own manager Gary Cronin is linked with the job?

I couldn't see Bucko jumping straight back into a volatile club after getting a pay off
I would have thought Reynolds would be an obvious candidate for a return. Surely Tommy Barrett would be in the frame too. Could well be a job nobody with a profile wants

We'll give you Keith Long if you want him?
Most fans are happy enough to leave Hunt and Breen in charge as they have won 5 games in a row and we are seeing a better style of football. All the hiring and firing of managers in recent years probably has damaged the club in getting a new manager. I didn't hear anything about Cronin being linked with the job.

Although, the fee suggested is incorrect
Is that the million that's incorrect?
That'd be a huge amount for an LoI academy player

He's going to their underage setup.
I'd say the fee is negligible but they might get money if he kicks on

I find it almost impossible to believe that Spurs, or any English club would pay that sort of money for any LOI player, let alone an underage player who has only a couple of first team appearances. Mind you, if it’s true, then happy days !

I had a strong feeling that Sligo were going to appoint JR. Interesting to see who he will get in as his no 2. Think Sligo will go places with JR than under LB. He seems to have great knowledge of academy and local talent.

Really tidy player. Left full. Did well at Birmingham and had loan spells at a few clubs I think before being released and signing for Mansfield. So hard for these lads in UK,and he was one of the better ones to go across from his Irish age group. Chance to rebuild the career at home now with Bohs.
Don't know about the figure but a great move for Josh Keeley. Hope it goes really well for him. Great young man and may he have a long and successful career.

Wilson went off injured in the last game. Just wonder is it cover for Wilson or just bolstering the defence which has been leaking in goals.

Seems very strange to me. If he was that good of a fee that is being banded about, why would Pats sign two goalkeepers ahead him in the last off-season? He is 19, its not like 19 year olds arent on the benches at other clubs.
Never seen him play of course. Maybe he is that good of a talent. Just the fact that Pats don't think enough of him to have as a second goalkeeper, just seems odd.

Yeah it’s a strange one alright.
It was mentioned in pre-season interviews that the club were looking to secure a loan move for him to get game time rather than being a number 2. Odumosu was then signed as backup keeper but the loan move for Keeley never materialised so maybe it was a case of Spurs making contact about signing him in the summer which resulted in the loan being pulled by Pats, alternatively the FD club looking to sign him on loan may have pulled the plug late on too.

Under contract for the season so far as I'm aware, but I think that's mainly to try ensure a transfer fee in the summer.

I know Man City have a crazy amount of very talented young players but I'd have thought a better option would be stick for another season as a 20 yr old and go out on loan at a higher level than Portsmouth with a clause that he is first choice, then reassess his options. Unless there is a good club interested in signing him outright. Starting to feel Kelleher needs to move too though ye get the impression he is in his clubs longer term plans though Becker has years yet, but he has to be above Karius and Adrian - lads suited to being back up, where Kelleher could be a No.1 at any number of clubs and at 23 has that bit more maturity/experience with some game time a top European club.
We must be getting close to knowing if a couple of our loanees will be recalled and how to manage what could be some huge losses. As per Orielweb it is a relief to know that Sheppard is well under contract. Williams not returning so with a light squad we could do with a couple of lads in. Some local rumours of signings that would keep most happy but i'd err on the side of this being some wishful thinking that's grown legs. We may be a bit ahead of expected development as per the league table but the club sensibly seems to be sticking to the plan and not fall in to making signings thinking we could sustain a proper title challenge. European qualification is still the realistic target and try and use what remains of our co-efficient in 2023 (seeded for 2 ECL rounds?).

(Same with Whelan, which of course is moot now given his unfortunate injury) Fairly sure the arrangement with both Whelan and Kerrigan was that they would be effectively allowed to leave mid season without a fee, otherwise they would have walked end of last season. Just some compensation due in both cases. Others leaving UCD and not just lads who are done in college, strong rumours of players walking in the mid season break. All not well at UCD is the word and nothing to do with league position.

League position could be due to all not being well. It was always going to be a difficult season but not, as stu put it, Kilkenny City levels of difficult. They always seemed to have a fearlessness and could take a scalp - I certainly never associated them with being cut loose at the bottom mid season although it may have happened.

That historical fearlessness came from players being trusted to play football at UCD, but even last season the style was incredibly direct, a brand of anti-football that is alien to the culture there. Looks like players simply aren't trusted to play football. Since Ian Ryan left its been awful to watch, I think he provided some sort of foil to Mylers lack of trust in players to keep it on the deck, but then OConner arrived and the pair of them make Ollie Horgans Harps look like Chelsea by comparison !

I thought Myler was well regarded as the main man. There is a wee bit of irony in Ryan being the footballing influence as he was quite fond of the hoof and safe way when at Dundalk.

There is a wee bit of irony in Ryan being the footballing influence as he was quite fond of the hoof and safe way when at Dundalk. in his own mind he is certainly well regarded, doing the interview circuit recently building his stock. Bear in mind that with the exception of myself and Stu, there aren't too many die hard UCD fans, so no fan pressure, no pressure from board level, as that would require a recognition that an internal appointee is problematic. The word is that he lost the dressing room a long time ago and most players would be happy to see him out.
