Someone who supports a better team than mine might make a crack about it being a change from them signing donkeys.
Maybe Rovers members could do a charity sweepstake… Rovers horse wins the profits go to charity maybe the Children’s Hospital FG have never built…

Gambling isn't my thing personally, and it does nothing for me. I'm not against it per se, but what I am against is the huge explosion in its promotion in recent years/this century. And it's basically the Brits' fault too.
Tony Blair brought in huge liberalisation of the gambling rules in Britain in the late 1990s - despite the fact that no voters were asking to have more gambling, and Labour not havong mentioned it in their manifesto. It was done because his party were raking in donations from the gambling sector, and they obviously wanted pay-back for that. What has happened since is that gambling has gone from being a fringe activity that always existed but wasn't really mainstream to something that cynical marketing has presented as being 'just a bit of fun, for everyone, and a normal part of everyday life'. And as so often happens - where the Brits led, Ireland followed.
Gambling is so in-your-face nowadays - it's literally everywhere. And unsurprisingly issues aroud problem gambling, debt, addiction, mental health etc have increased dramatically at the same time.
Again - no-one was asking for a dramatic increase in the promotion and availability of gambling. Just the industry itself. And it bought off a British government to secure it, and then the Irish government to meekly follow suit. And now we all pour money into the coffers of those companies. Many of whom are based in tax havens, so don't even have the decency to pay full taxes in-return for it either. Absolute parasites.
I'd happily go back to the old days of gambling being there for those who want to access it, but not in your face so you literally can't get through a single day of your life without some company trying to lure you into it. But hey - here's a race horse for your favourite football club, and you can help give it a funny name too ! Quick - spend all your money on it, as it's bound to be lucky

Charlie McCreevy's personal interest policy as a horse racing fan and a gamler. He dressed up looser restrictions and tax cuts to assist with the funding of the Irish horse racing industry. It probably did the job too really but needs reform now which could be a restrictive bill.

Meant to be a 3 year deal also for Hoban.
Benson meant to be also signing and possibly by tomorrow, not sure on his deal, he usually only does one year.
Dan Kelly on 2 year deal also as per local reports, but these all need to be confirmed by DFC.

I forget how the compensation is calculated but I would expect an offer similar to what Shels paid for Kane would see the deal done easily enough.
I'm clueless on calculation of development fees but Dervin is 22 out of contract and Kane is 23 under contract so I'd guess there will be a difference between both fees paid as Kane will be a straight transfer negotiation between Shels/Drogheda

Dan McDonnell was referring to it as "a compensation arrangement" for Kane in the Indo so I'm not sure he was under contract. Doesn't really matter either way I suppose.

Excellent signing for Drogheda. Looked very sharp for us, scored 6 or 7 goals in half a season I think.

Supposed to be a real talent, surprised we got him permanently although it probably meant Kane's fee was spent on him. Three very solid forward options in himself, Lyons and Foley. We're in dire need of some defenders at this stage and looks like all will need to be newcomers. Who that leaves available I'm not sure ?

Yep forwards look exciting and with Markey feeding them it looks promising. I fully agree on back line, I was hoping we might retain some of the lads but as time goes on it’s looking more and more unlikely.

Williams is a great signing for drogs. He needs someone up alongside him as he is a bit small on his own and bradser normally plays with 1 up top. Think he will do well for u

For a man who only played for us since end of August Dean Wiliams was our top scorer with seven. I was quite impressed with him. Think he will do well for Drogs. Not a surprise that DD recommended him to Drogheda. He scored a cracker in his last home appearance v Waterford!

Thx guys , great to get some feedback on him - I just found a few YouTube videos of some of his goals - looks a real striker - good free kick too.
2 Year Contract

Dean Williams is a good prospect up front. He’s developed a nack of scoring against Pats. Played against us for Bray in the cup in 2019 and scored, then when he went to Longford in the summer scored in both Inchicore and Longford against Pats

Just imagine keeping Duffy, Patching and Cleary if they were offered multi year contract extensions early on. Down side to that would have been Abib, Zahibo and Han on multi year contracts and maybe stuck with them - if new owners had had to buy even just Zahibo out of his contract it could have been a harder sale.

Hibs keen not just on Sligo's Johnny Kenny, but also Darragh Burns, now managed at Pat's by a former Hibs player. (Edinburgh Evening News, 17 Dec).

What do Pats make of him supposedly being a guest of Hibs for their game? Seems like bad form if he's not allowed to talk to them.

I find it a bit weird, not even with my Pats hat on the kind of open schmoozing of players before the team has even made a bid for them or anything like that. Suppose it's just the nature of our league being as small as it is that it's just accepted. Could be a slippery slope if he ends up having his mind made up that he wants the move and then Pats don't play ball with Hibs, but Darragh is a great lad in fairness. Given the circumstances of how much of a rebuild is already on, unless it's a hefty fee I'd sooner just hang onto him for the season, he's a cracking player and constantly improving.

The biggest thing for me in both him and Johnny Kennys move is Hibs don’t have a manager,a manager can come in and not fancy them and they’re on the loan move circuit ,which many a promising young Irish player has been lost too….

Given Darraghs age it could well benefit him staying at Pats for another year, rather than going over to Hibs and maybe not making the team on a regular basis. Another year like this one at Pats and he might get better offers anyway. He has no need to rush into anything. (But then, I would say that wouldn’t I ?) ;);)

He is in the process of declaring for Ireland instead of the North so best not to make too many changes at once. He is a excellent prospect but one good season doesn’t make a career. I hope he sticks around.

I didn’t see it but apparently there was a fake account last night claiming he had signed & some fell for it. It’s all BS apparently. Hopefully he does sign but a certain individual in Dundalk has stuck his snout into proceedings.

Is there anywhere that keeps a running list of all the ins and outs? (I remember CityTillIDie used to do it here)

Extratime used to do an ins and outs but haven't seen it this year

That was a penalty which he then celebrated wildly by taking his shirt off and running over to the Waterford fans to rile them up. Strange behaviour considering Longford were already relegated so result meant nothing to them.
No signings announced by Waterford yet as no manager in place. It seems like as usual we will be behind everyone else getting ready for new season.
