Pearse 6/1 Sunday fair price for underdogs going up to Dublin

Its a fair price alright but they are a decent side + have heard good things about them. Not being negative but if ye come away without being hammered then its a good day at the office especially away up in Dublin. Being underdogs is great because you might catch them out for the 1st half hour but after that then their class should shine through. I hope I'm wrong as I want all teams to do well and I suppose you never know :-)

Donnie you say your not being negative well your not a bit positive either bud.If any of my teammates come up to the bus sunday morning with an attitude like it be alrite to go up and lose 1 or 2 nil they be sent straight back home.1 for your spot on their after playing 6 in the league lost 4 drew 1 and a win the team they bate are rock bottom too have to take a bit of encouragement from that form, although form probably goes out the window in games like this.Wer going up positive attitude tho we want to win.Best of luck to innishvilla and richmond too hopefully 3 wins.

Tricksey best of luck at the weekend, I must throw a few quid on ye at those odds, ye have nothing to fear against them, ye have the players to win up there. I think Innishvilla have a decent chance too! Richmond have a tough task but best of luck to all Cork teams.

Just to update - the Innishvilla v City United game is switched to Mayfield All Weather pitch on Sunday KO 12.45pm.
The club would have loved to host it in Knocknacurra as it is a pitch made for the style of football that the boys play - but an international standard all-weather is probably the next best option.
At least next year if we get the opportunity we won't have to move it having applied for and received a grant towards building a new clubhouse.

I'd also like to echo the good wishes to Pearse & Richmond in their respective games and of course come on Innishvilla last 16 would be some achievement for the club...

Knockavilla 1 Springfield 1 good game on a soft pitch that cut up pretty bad but I'm sure our grounds staff will have it looking good . They scored from a corner to go 1 nil up against run of play . To be honest it was all villa for 90 mins of that match their keeper was man of the match . Robbie got us back on level terms with a sweet finish from outside of box curled nicely into bottom right hand side of net . We played well and created lots of chances but couldn't beat the keeper . Still unbeaten at home so we'll move on to next week away to Macroom and hopefully get a result their .

Ya 8-0. Blown up with 30 to go. 3 goals coming from our centre halves. They had 1 or 2 nice players but they couldnt get the ball off us. Greaney would of had a field day if he wasnt suspended. Their keepers made 3 top drawer saves as well.

Just a quick on for ye lads whats best a cork team ever did in fai cup

In recent memory I think ourselves and Kinsale got to the last 16, Kinsale may have gotten to the Q/F actually. And I think Greenmount in the 90s got to about the same. Looking back through the records http://www.corkaul.com/search/label/Records it's difficult to see when a Cork team last won it

Douglas beaten in final in 1964-65 is first date I can see

That is a very good question and one for any pub quiz. A Cork AUL team won the F.A.I. Junior Cup. Tease it out among yourselves and I will give the answer to-morrow.

Cork team - my guess - Glasheen back in the mid 50's...
Don't know of any other...

Edit:

Id go with Glasheen aswell, but i think it was the FAI Minor Cup that they won. They went undefeated the same year. Late 50s i think.

Top of the class Oldlegs. St.Michaels Tipperary won the F.A.I. Junior Cup in 1974. At the time they were in the Cork A.U.L. and in fact that year they also won the Cork A.U.L. Premier league. They joined in 1968/69 season and left in the 80's when the TSDL was formed. They thoroughly enjoyed their time in Cork, (they won the A.O.H. cup in 1971), and to show their appreciation presented a trophy, the St.Michaels Cup, which I think is still in existence. Saints made up for the Cork A.U.L. disappointment of 1972 when a fancied St.Marys were expected to win the F.A.I. Junior Cup but were beaten 3-1 in the final by Talbot Utd (Dublin). Have shown my age now but let me tell ye I have many fond and happy memories of playing in the Cork A.U.L.

Yes the St Michael's Cup is the divisional cup for the 1st division of the AUL...

Thanks for the interesting bit of history...
