Ya what Joe Browne...I mean central fox said Pearse and Greenwood are getting community pitch's.it has too be your own too play MSL which neither can afford!same goes for blarney street!! any clubs that own their pitchs and have schoolboys set up be mad too stay AUL.id rather have a better team than a better pitch good player will play on anything.

i reckon aul is better after watching a few msl teams down in wanderers this year.
Is better how?
Personally I think MSL is better. Better facilities, pitches..most big MSL teams have a junior team AND a second team playing in the first division too which is a class Divison and deadly too get out of!...middelton and Fermoy both promoted last year and doing well in prem...there are some class teams AUL but outside 3r4 premier teams,2r3 prem A teams and maybe 1r2loaded teams further down the divisions the standerd isn't great!lots of thrown together teams playing on community pitchs that have glass and stones etc on them!no dressing rooms!no showers!
I'm not saying for one minute that an AUL team couldn't beat an MSL team or that AUL players aren't good enough too play MSL.what I am saying tho is MSL is the higher standerd and clubs striving too join the MSL show ambition too better them selfs in a better league!
I can see the Glen bouncing back alright but got told yesterday up in the Fairfield that they had 3 sent off against Blackstone and another 2 after the game. Any truth in this Horse / 1For??

Lads just looking at the city challenge draw, can someone explain nto me how lakewood are in this i would have taught they would be in the county cup?look again you see dillons cross a bye into the semi ucc B lofted out they win a tie on penos with ilegal player and the aul answer is give a club a cheap place in last 4 why not give the team that lost a chance in the last 8.

the aul is laughing stock there making up there own rules as the go along dont blame teams for jumping ship too the msl !!!

To be fair now - 3/4 of 30 clubs have two junior sides in MSL, and, without causing offence, the top team in first division wouldnt get near AUL first Id say

Just recently in the Munster junior league division 1 they added another round of league games.
can you imagine fella,s thinking they have nothing to play for as only 1st go's up and possibly taking there foot off the gas in the process,
only to be told with a few games remaining that another round will be played??
So I would say both are guilty of making it up as they go along.
In terms of facilities and quality of pitch there's no contest,
In terms of referees same again
I realise that the refs change every year n blablabla but you would be a fool to think the aul don't possess some of the worst refs in cork.
Again there are exceptions but I'm mainly talking of the sheer number of poor quality referees in the league.
Probably more prevalent in lower divisions.
Player wise
There's players throughout aul divisions who could play in the Msl not a bother to them and I'm sure Msl teams would welcome them with open arms.
If your good enough any club will be glad to have ya.
Having experienced Msl,mjl and aul first hand I suppose it all comes down to preference for each player in what he's looking for, balancing work commitments and family.
I have to say there's something about the aul that just brings out the romantic side of soccer IMO.
The banter you get at matches I have yet to see at msl.(which i find takes itself so serious it almost sucks the fun out of the game).
Its amateur soccer at the end of the day no matter how you dress it up.
In conclusion Msl prem is the pinnacle in cork soccer though there's no doubt about it ,
If your a player with ambition that's where your ultimately aiming to get too which should worry the aul but being so far behind now its high on possible to catch up without huge investment IMO.
Where does the card and registration money go to can anyone enlighten me??

the friendly rule the best one to date the aul have simple heads running it i played a friendly a number of weeks back and had a shouting match with a ref and the little f.e.c.k.e.r got me 4 match ban and 50 bucks fine in a friendly !!! and on top of that the aul picks that biggest 4 game of the season to ban me

Why is it up to the opposition to spot ilegal players's and not the aul ??? Who have all match cards and player reg . Just a random question does anyone know the reason or thinking behind it ?

It's the same with most leagues, there are a few excellent and a few struggling. Last season we finished 5th and missed out on promotion by only a few points, Killumney finished in the same position(i could be wrong), so i will use them as an example. This obviously changes season to season with players and managers coming and going.
You have played both Sharpshooter which did you find easier to play in?

None are easy to play in but i do think that the standard of football is better and more competitive in the msl no easy games with the exception of the odd one or two.and that's just the football.pitches and faciltys are top notch also.

Boring arguement, mjl teams are all 2nd teams in clubs hence aul clubs can compete with them. They cant and will never compete with the msl teams. Kilumney, park, coachford are all 1st teams and very good teams at that, but they wouldnt get near any msl prem team.

Ah don't be telling porkies now Dixie? First off it was a friendly (means nothing ) + 2nd. Ye won 2-1 easily. That doesn't even make sense. Plus if I remember correctly we had our goalkeeper playing up front. Not getting in to the aul v msl debate. There's good + bad teams in every league at every level. Same can be said about players. There's no doubt that the better facilities + pitches are in the MSL but there has to be a competitive edge to the league your playing in as well. Is the MSL premier competitive in terms of teams chasing honours? I don't think so. Only interesting thing about that is the relegation.

Very disappointing yesterday with the result, especially at home. Have to dust ourselves down and get on with it. Still a few massive games coming up and i think who ever can put a few results together will be favourites for the play off. Great for the league to be so competitive, not good for the heart !!!
Def the strongest 3rd Division i have ever seen.
New poster here! With Boscos myself and have been for years.
Agree with you about strong 3rd div. Didn't play much 3rd div over the years myself but the likes of Carrig B, Leeview, Evergreen and obv Glen B are easily as good as a lot of teams I've come across in Div 1 and even some in Prem A.
Our game was a good un I thought until the ref ruined it......how did you manage to upset him??? You've some cracking players there, have to be honest I was glad to see Steve Kidney on the bench.....always causes us problems.
I reckon you still have a great chance of second.....although so do we ;-)

That's harsh hubba castleview is a senior club which provides players to that team and if the junior team has players good enough to play senior that's we're they go when you have a team in the msl that's your main priority

Dixie, I was comparing Junior First Divisions!! in response to 2words post. Comparison proof is there for us to see I suppose though the three teams who went to Div 2 changed a bit. They are holding their own to a degree with Wilton looking like they will be Div 1 next year. MSL is intermediate football so it's next level up to junior and its clubs that move not really the team.
Cork needs one football body, with a Junior and Senior section with promotion to Senior offered to the top team in Junior section if the club meets certain criteria - pitch, schoolboys, etc.
We must look after all levels with a path from Div 3 to Avondale!!
First ever time I heard of pitch "ownership" - do Glasheen own a pitch?
I disagree on the refs front in most part except the LOI guys sometimes in MSL. I think it's common opinion that Gene is the best ref around ahead of a group of two or three and they move over and back.
Harsh on Castleview manager. He went senior, and looked for the best players in his club. It's the old problem that Castleview will face again for the next two seasons as well. Their 19s and 18s are Irish internationals. They won't fit them all in and these guys may not wanna play Junior so leave.

Well those friends obviously don't pay attention..both sections of division1 are small and when they drew the sections it was up on the website that teams play 3 times...infact was on MSL website about 3 weeks so these friends didnt ask their managers and just assumed it was rounds of two not three.at Corinthians v Blarney in January the Corinthians players were saying at half time on the pitch (whilst top of the league) theres a long way too go and 30 points too play for so it wasn't exactly done on a whim!

Heard down the Anglers at the weekend that Rockmount Seniors have a shopping list for next season and that top of that list is 3 of the top players in AUL.. Not going to name them but I think it's not that hard to figure out who. My point is I think that Senior League is probably a better place standards wise but that standard is dropping. With the exception of Avondale there is a lot of mediocre players playing MSL who wouldn't set the world on fire playing AUL Premier. It's definitely better standard of pitches and facilities but the gulf between players is not as big as it was. Hence Rockmount and other MSL clubs looking at players in the AUL a lot more now.
