Looking forward to Greenwood and Pearse tonight, hopefully it will feel like a derby, tight game, crunching tackles, the usual derby banter!! Greenwood off the back of a few poor results, hopefully there not just going through the motions and get it together tonight and give us a good game, pearse will be too strong, 2-0 pearse. Other than that i think there will be home wins all around in premier.

3-1 Pearse Celtic,I can honestly say the ref was appalling today!gave 3 greenwood players two yellows each wouldn't send them off when pointed out to him and when jogging away he starts laughing to himself, nothing like a local derby game😎

I quite enjoyed the game, the pitch wasnt the best but both teams had to deal with it and played some decent football at times, greenwood are much better than some of their recent results and i thought they were very good against a strong pearse side with some quality players, were unlucky to concede from 3 free kicks, one an absolute worldy!! not sure about the 3 players getting booked twice, didnt notice that, there was alot of yellows though which u would expect in a derby game. Pearse got off to a great start after a few minutes, greenwood keeper parried a free and pearse were quickest to react, midway through second half pearse got another free on the edge of the box, blonde lad midfield left legger, hit an unstoppable shot, right in the postage stamp. Greenwood had some chances of their own in first half but for some good goalkeeping it stayed 2-0 at half time. Greenwood came out very livley in 2nd half and deservedly got one back from the spot, but another free kick caught them only a few minutes after, a whipped in free, not sure if it went straight in or off the defender but the keeper probably should have came for it. Bit of a scuffle followd a few minutes after which resulted in pearse keeper getting sent off for a bop, needless really, could cost pearse big time, his kick outs alone even! Game died out a bit, pearse had a few scrappy moments in their box, but held in well, greenwood had a man sent off aswel for a second yellow for kicking out before the end. All in all quite a good game i thought

If greenwood play the way they did today throughout a season they be doing very well in the league,I reckon the ref left to many rough tackles go that made it a battle all round, pitch was shocking ground rock solid ball bobbled everywhere very hard to get hold of a game on these type if pitches.great game would keep you on your toes till the final whistle.

I agree there, the ref lost control a bit, he was leaving takles go that should of been frees, and was booking players for stupid things, very inconsistent, i dont think i have seen him before, maybe i have but im not sure, theres always going to be bad refs, there was when i played and there will be in 20 years, nothing you can do.... Looked like a bop from where i was anyway, player probably went down a bit easy alright but as soon as you make contact your giving the ref a decision to make. Unfortunatly for pearse i think he got that one correct,,

Macroom have 1game left at home to Kilumney. Blarney street have 2 games left Park and Kilumney.Springfield have Castleview and Kilumney left .Greenwood not sure how many they left but we have to play them .Macroom really need to get something from Kilumney game as you'd fancy Springfield to beat Castleview.

one for how long are you going to beat that drum about an aul team beating anyone in the msl senior ranks! killumney were beaten by park just a couple of weeks ago ad held by blarney st but yet you have them beating the likes of corentians ucc and rockmount. get real would you. as you can see from the 3 teams that went into a supposedly poor msl division 2 its not that easy..its called senior football for a reason..you have kinsale rock bottom, leeside mid table and wilton doing well...doing well with a great chance to go up but by no means walking past teams week in week out. im sure those 3 clubs will all have noted the step up in quality week in week out and thats division 2 as i said!!! just let it rest!!!!look i just posted there the best and thn was asked to clarify and i did and it was just my opinion.wilton will always do well as they play football leeside great club and kinsale take out the top 4 and the rest can be beat .park got that winner in the last min.and there a good side and would beat msl teams.

Isn't today, 1st of May, significant in some way for Park. Coachford, Macroom and their MSL application? I cannot remember the signifigance of the date - something about giving notice to AUL or MSL giving notice to AUL or something like that?
Anyone any idea?

ah well 'can be beat' is a lot different than comepting in a league and doing it week in week out that why aul prem is on a par with msl div 2 as is been proven out, even you cant argue that one!!although im sure you will try;)its a one horse race over in msl avondale of the top 4 being the horse the others holding on to their tails only just. not an arguement just an opinion red.

Let's be logic about it and go through the div's and see what clubs fit the Msl critera
Radiostar
01/05/2013, 2:24 PM
The argument about standard between Aul/Msl will always be there, but the only thing that is certain is that it's always the better Aul teams and clubs that are looking to go Msl and not the other way round. So that probably sums up what most clubs think which standard is higher. Saying that though, there are a lot of very average senior sides out there.

Your obviously joking are you? Aul premier is on par with msl 2? Since your so brilliant at facts redandwhite can you tell me where Wilton, Kinsale & Leeside finished in the premier last year? Wilton are competing to win the league with 12 players. They didn't win nor challenge the Aul top 3 last year. Take off your blinkers now will you. Come end of the season I'm sure whatever teams finish in the top 4 places of aul premier would go on & win the msl 2 in there first season. Leeside & Kinsale were teams in transition. They only moved for the future of there clubs. There's teams playing msl 2 that wouldn't win league 1 in aul.

Your going to get strong teams and weak teams in every league that's just the nature of the game . You can't deny that their is strong teams in Prem aul but their is also weak teams . Same as Msl 2 div some good and some not so good . Can we all agree on that ?
Kearney
01/05/2013, 5:34 PM
well i think this argument will be put to bed in a year or two as by that stage there wont be any decent teams left in the aul and they will be climbing up through a new division 3 in the msl so then it will be clear who are the strongs teams and the not so strong teams. sorry i didnt realise kinsale wilton and leeside were down the bottom of the aul last year..would they have been relegated if they had stayed?
obviously by your argument that there are teams in msl div 2 who wouldnt win division 1 that the current kinsale team are about a division 3 aul team within 12 months as they are bottom of that so called brutal division? really???
As I said kinsale are a team in transition. They would be no where near top of aul either. They haven't the players. There's a big difference between a team challenging & a team just playing for the sake of it. You cant get relegated from msl 2. You can relegated from aul premier. The stanard in the league is brutal. Having spoke to people who made the change last year they are the first to admit that the msl is more professional & the facilities are better. Thats obvious. Thats why they are msl. But they also said the msl is by no means better in terms of standard. At the end of the day would you rather play msl 2 or aul premier? Don't even think I need to argue that. Wilton will probably get promoted this year. I hope they do but would they challenge for the premier? I doubt it. I said there are teams in msl 2 who wouldn't win the 1st division. That's my opinion. They are there because of facilities first and foremost. If they can add to there squad & get out of the division then that's a bonus. Leeside are building at the moment. You cant be brilliant every year.
