View Full Version : Cork AUL 2012/13

The most successful side in the Cork Aul over the last 15 years, most sucessful manager.4 Premier titles on the trot, the TROT. And that was with the Blarneys,Greenmounts,Leesides,Grattans and Wiltons all coming at them.Aoh and Mossie wins.Players capped at International,Junior and Amature.Reaching the open draw for the Fai and Mjc was the rule for them, not the exception.Christ some of there players have medal collections that whole sides now would'nt be able to pool together. And ya only Grattan could remove them from their perch to any great effect. They signed off the Aul buy winning the Premier on the trot again for good measure. A style of play is what we all aspire to,just cause its not easy on the eye it dosent mean we shouldnt show it any less respect. Who do you think is remembered, the ones who play nice or the ones who won. Folks have forgotten about lots of sides who played good ball. Cant see anyone forgetting about Kinsale any time soon.ok 1st the guy you mention under your post is my uncle. 2nd i admire what they won. 3rd i didnt like their style of play thats my opinion ...4th the people that had to buy the footballs wont ever forget it id say.

I prefer to win playing pretty week in week out but thats obviously not going to happen so your going to have to win ugly sometimes just like we did at the weekend was a right battle on a shocking pitch, but we would never go out with the intention to win ugly just think its wrong wouldnt enjoy going out playing like that every week.

you wouldnt enjoy winning? 3 points is all that matters at the end of the day. scrappy 1-0 or a flamboyant 4-0 same reward. at this level your never going to get style and substance avondale being the exception.

i dont have a problem with losing if my team puts in a shift and has a go. however if we were just pretty to watch and completley toothless id have a problem with it

I think he has a fair point. All he is trying to say is that while Kinsale were so successful which was great he didn't like there style of play. They will be known as winners but lumpers. Where as Barcelona will be known as the greatest team to ever play ball whilst winning trophys. It is about winning but it is definitely about playing the right way. Look at avondale. Look at the top junior sides in the country. They love a battle but love nothing more than knocking it around. Should teams aspire to that? I think so. Yes some teams cant but if there's an opportunity to play then play. Some teams wouldn't dream of doing that. There's a couple of good teams at the minute trying to play football + win. Most from what I have seen this year are doing ok. Just because Kinsale + rockmount played that style doesn't mean its right. I bet if u asked these medal winners from those teams what they thought I'm sure they would say they would have loved to play a bit more

it gets its rewards.its like red cards you cant have to much of that in your team but a certain amount of yellow cards and silverware go hand in hand.you can be hard and nasty in a nice footballing way .

Look at the end of the day,No player or manager is gonna give a **** how they win and thats a fact every team is different you play to your strengths and if that mean's playing unattractive or playing attractive football no one cares as long as they win.

Hard to keep everyone happy....was at a rockmount game recently and their bench was crazy....are coachford heading like that.....saw conor play up front recently and thats his best position so plenty of strikers for them...his brother outstanding full back and very experienced so if its true its a good bit of business for coachford

Can anyone give me directions to Killumney Utd's ground (i.e. from Jack Lynch Tunnel). We're (Clonmel Celtic) down next week to play them in the FAI. What are they like?
They won't be playing on their own ground I'd say either as that ground is not fenced in and when they play big matches like this one they usually move them, so it would be best for you to contact the club directly, they are a nice bunch and will look after ye well I have no doubt.

If Killumney are not allowed play at home cause of having no fence around there pitch how come Glen B are allowed play at there place against Carrick ?

Good player tho Skilly is just might struggle to hold down a starting place out there with a squad of 47 tho it's gonna be tough for everyone, except baby zico ;-)))
