Whats that got to do with my post? Take it up with those fans.
I would spell it out for you, but I'd rather not come across as patronising.

Diarmuid O'Carroll is more likely to take a gig with the IFA than FAI. Think he's had a few roles there already.
I don't think there is any indication that he would take an ifa role over an fai role

Maybe you should bring in somebody to organise your evidence for that?
Well if you have been watching Ireland matches you may have noticed a sudden change from 433 Kenny to the Chelsea formation. This occurred right after the Chelsea coach arrived.

Maybe fai will go back and offer Barry the managers job and let kennys contract run down?
Could be possible, yes. I thought the same when I read this incident. Of course the WC it could be a sensible reason

Is it the length of contract and terms that the FAI are humming and hawing over, or is Kenny's future genuinely in doubt?
If so, you can only surmise that they have another name in mind. But who might that be?

I would say they can't decide on whether to wait until after the 4 NL games in June or give it to him now
They really should wait.. we have very little to lose by waiting.

That seems sensible.
I, personally, would be of the mind that, notwithstanding Barry's defection, given the recent signs of progression and improvement, and with no-one obvious and available to replace him, Kenny should be afforded more time - though not on a stupidly long contract.

Now that the record for season tickets sold has been broken i wonder will we hear anything about Kennys contract?

Is that fact? Not messing... but have season tickets sales records been broken?

According to the FAI it’s a new record anyway: https://www.fai.ie/ireland/news/fai-season-ticket-sales-at-record-high?fbclid=IwAR3yzeCDXw-PWDyt-RpI-ZXASPd6qLfdvbcEbeg5sUG7Ytic_FLINhj3PGY

How long have we been selling season tickets for though? Back when we were good it used to be that you had to buy for every game to keep your seat for the following one, but there were no season tickets as such. So it's probably not as big a deal as it sounds.

Its a record since we started selling season tickets. Thats how records work.
And funnily enought rumours of the new contract seem to be out.

That's... not the question that was asked though.
The previous record was 16,500 in 2018/19 (per the FAI).
From googling online, I think they were launched in 2011, after the infamous corporate ticket fiasco. And then the FAI set match ticket prices such that it was cheaper to buy individual tickets... See https://m.independent.ie/irish-news/fai-cuts-ticket-prices-to-woo-back-fans-as-crowds-slump-26731086.html
So not that long (you can rule out two years due to covid too) - but we've had two Euro qualifications in that time, so to top those ticket sales when we're about as bad as we've ever been does mean something I think

It is.
But if we started selling season tickets in 2022, it would be a silly record.
And if we started selling season tickets in 1972, it'd be a more impressive feat.
I'm not sure why the silly response to what's a reasonable question.

This is the oldest your mom has been since records began. Not all records are important. Snarking at people looking for context to judge the importance of this one just makes you look like an eejit.

Ok at least we can all agree its a record, that seems settled.
Why it annoys people is another question i guess.

The only thing that's annoying people is utterly unhelpful answers to perfectly valid questions. Should be fairly clear why that's annoying.

So it's probably not as big a deal as it sounds. That original "block booking" system was in place since immediately after Italia 90 I think. Even then the number of tickets sold which guaranteed you tickets in future were lower than this number. They're somewhat comparable I'd say.
There's definitely something happening in domestic football though. LOI attendances and ST sales high, MNT ST sales high, WNT getting good crowds. Are the Irish getting turned off by petro-countries buying football?

I still think it's a bit premature, unless there's a get-out clause for the FAI after the Nations League if things go badly. Still, at least the papers will shut up about it.

I've no issue with it to be honest - the games in June will be over in three months, and that's not much of a contract to offer
It's a show of faith on the FAI's part for the improved performances at the end of 2021 as well

His contract as we speak is until July AFAIK?

This contract should have been done months ago. Waiting until Nations League is nonsense. The players all love him and we've turned a corner with him in last year. Also there is no obvious replacement.
Im delighted its finally done and Im excited about the next few years.

Waiting to see how we fair against opposition of a proper standard "is nonsense"...
Look who we beat man seriously.
what part of we aint going to lose this gem to a Premier league team or to another International team do you not get? We have him ..his contract ends in July.. just hold on to our knickers until June and when he does ok. Boom contract.
If we get slaughtered in June.. we might just regret it.
Also the players who love him are also getting picked.. its like that is most teams.

It looks like now the Nations league games he is going to be in charge against before the contract ran out in the summer is 2 games against Armenia as Ukraine game likely to be postponed. Should we still wait to see how we get on against that standard of opposition ?

Because I think Armenia and Scotland would be good tests

One thing I don't understand is why the FAI don't set the contract to the end of qualifying with an automatic extension if we qualify or reach the play-offs. If we don't impress in the qualifiers, they end up with a lame duck manager when a new manager should be getting his feet under the table or having to make a big payout again.
Not long enough but take the win for now - the boss stays.

Scotland will likely be playing Ukraine in a rescheduled World Cup playoff and the winner will be playing the playoff final. Who knows how that’ll impact things

Absolute disgraceful decision to give Kenny a new contract. Who's the new coach? With Barry gone that appointment is vital. Why offer a contract when that's not sorted?
Pre Anthony Barry, we were a shambles. If we don't get a good coach we'll go back to that again. How long will we have to keep living the fantasy that Kenny is actually capable of managing at anything close to this level?

I was ok with keeping Kenny if it meant Barry was also kept on board. With Barry gone and no replacement, it's crazy to give a new contract to Kenny.
Look, I hope I'm way off but Kenny has shown to me that he doesn't belong close to this level. Without Barry, our rankings were falling off a cliff. It can take years to recover from that.
