Yeah only ! Thats a very poor crowd for your first euro match in years .we brought great crowds to ALL our euro matches . lots of them have disapeared completely now though . Sad .
The timeline was very tight from draw to actual match.Flights at short notice or no direct flights to Luxembourg etc....
No doubt a lot more would have travelled otherwise.

No doubt a lot more would have travelled otherwise.Luxembourg's not that far, plenty of alternative options to get there once on mainland Europe. 100-150 is poor in fairness imo.

Not everyone has the money to go to the euro away games and especially at that short notice. Maybe if they get through they will have bigger numbers traveling but 100 or so is a decent away following in europe.
How many went to sligo's away match?

About 80 of us. We were in the situation that we would have been in Vienna if we'd beaten Vllaznia. (Still hurts) So everyone was waiting for that. Although it did take a flight to Dubrovnik and a 17 hour round trip through Croatia and Montenegro to get there for the majority of us.

Thats the point , a lot would want to go but couldnt due to various reasons. Im sure that a lot of Dundalk fans didnt just say " Feck it, i cant be arsed going " .

If only they had some way of knowing 8 months beforehand that they would be facing a trip to somewhere in Europe

I think away attendances in Europe are naturally going to be down in 2009 and 2010. There's a bit of a recession going on. I know plenty of people (me included) who would not have missed a Euro game for the world 3, 4,5 years ago but just couldn't justify the outlay at the minute. Still, 150-200 is admittedly not a great travelling crowd for one of the better supported teams in the league.
Without wanting to get petty about it Dundalk took more to Luxembourg than Drogs brought 20 minutes up the M1 on Monday night.
Lep are there really nearly 300 going to follow Sporting?! That's half an average home crowd!

I heard that the only trip available was for a week, flights alone at 650 Euro and accommodation for five nights on top of that. The one Fingal fan I know of here in North County Dublin thought that there were a couple of dozen going alomg with players officials , Keelings/ Gannon sponsors etc. 267 would be about four times what you brought to Dalymount last Friday, so some acheivement if you can get that number to the middle of the South Atlantic.
BTW , Bohs have sold out their allocation of 400 for the away leg v TNS.

Sunday to sunday was the cheapest and the only direct flights. The other option was through gatwick or lisbon on the tuesday till friday or saturday with coming back on saturday the cheapest option. All in with taxes etc its just short of €800.

The last half hour was so irrelevant/Rovers in such control that I counted the Dundalk fans out of boredom. I made it 74, nowhere near 200.

Just turn up and either ticket kiosk outside or pay at the gate. I would be surprised if there are more than 3,000 at it.
I'd say about 550 at the Waterford v Monaghan game. I didn't see any official figures though.

I was talking to a mate who volunteers on match days and he told me the away turstile scanned 46 tickets yesterday. I think only bray and galway have brought less travelling fans.

well, there was a leinster final featuring louth for the first time in 50 years.
When they played us earlier on this season it was around the same amount with no leinster final. Only one club has taken up their full allocation in Tallaght since the second stand opened and that was Pat's last monday. Sad reflection on the league really that clubs who get 1500+ at home games can barely muster fifty or sixty travelling supporters.

Each of three times Bohs played Rovers in Tallaght the tickets allocated to us by Rovers sold out. Maybe GGAJD is referring to seats that Rovers held back from the allocation for a cordon of empty seats for games against us? Or maybe it was just a deliberately disengenuous post.

I think you'll find boez handed back over two hundred tickets for the first game in tallaght this year and the same for the last one in tallaght last year, that's not disengenuous, it's something I was told by a committee member.
