Maybe he is thinking about the future after his playing days are over? Lives in Wexford and has started a football academy and is now bringing it to Waterford. So dont question a man's 'ambition' when all he is doing is looking for a way to support his family when he stops playing.

And to think only yesterday he was on the brink of joining Pat Fenlon's Hibernian revolution!

Of course I'm going to question the ambition of a player who could join most of the European competitors in the Premier Division, who then decides to join a team who were midtable and not a competitor in the First Division last year and probably won't go up again this year. The chap is only 30.

In fairness to Gary Dempsey he has played for Waterford Utd before in the 2001/02 season before he went overseas so I dont blame him its obviously cos of the soccer school.. Its a good signin for Waterford..

How is it obviously over the soccer school when he has a soccer school in Bray.
If anything him moving the soccer school is becaues he is signing for Waterford and not the other way around.

Nothing, whatsoever, to do with ambition..had a good offer from Shels but following on from his Pats experience figures that getting back into the culture which exists in that dressing room would be an unwise move.

Because he wants to have it in more that the one place maybe? Him signing for us fits perfectly with his plans to bring his academy here.

Blue till I die is on the right track. I believe that he wants to move back to the southeast and wants to open a branch of the soccer school around Waterford/Wexford area.

Would be happy to give him a few extra euros if he drops a few pounds!
Heard he was coming a while ago would be a brilliant signing -- that boy has a great eye for goal and should get plenty of supply.
Delighted Peers and Keano are back on board.
The our defenders, heard Shams are after McGuinness.

Blah... re our defenders, Shams are after Jayo - I'm sure he'd fit in well there. Back in Dublin and Euro football etc. Best of luck to him, he was a wonderful player all season.

Is that a joke? From what I've seen of him he's terrible. Nothing to do with the amount of goals he conceded either.

Young keeper, still a lot to learn. He was thrown in at the deep end this year. He made some errors as expected with a young player, wasn't helped by having a chronic defence in front of him, but gave some good performances too. He single handedly prevented Shams from mauling us in Terryland in August. Can't see it being anything more than a trial over there for now, but no reason why he can't become a good keeper in the future.

If any young keeper from Galway deserved a trial with Liverpool it probably should be Ger Hanley.
Your probably right though, it most likely is nothing more than a trial. Have always felt the majority of times English teams only bring Irish lads over to give the English lads a bit of competition and have no real interest.

I've heard of a young lad paying £2000 for a trial with a League 1 club. I'd say the clubs only interest was to make money

Yep it happened, sad isn't it. He was at a junior club in Wexford, I was told Wallace didn't want him for any of the Youths underage teams and he went over to England then for the trial

McGoldrick signed for 2012 a few months ago and Horgan's original deal was up until next November.
North's signing gives us some much needed physical presence up front.

Not sure about that. What north gives you is pace and finishing ability. If he was there alst year you'd have won the league

Doyle has pace, just has a bit too much energy sometimes and ends up like a headless chicken. I agree about the finishing that he sometimes lacks. Doyle's not the biggest lad either which is where North will come in handy.
North's not that big either (all jokes aside). He's not going to give defenders trouble in the way Blinkhorn's bulk did. North is twice the player Doyle is IMO

Darly Horgan staying with Sligo - board won't let him go apparently.
In better news Blinkhorn most likely won't be coming to Cork and Davin O'Neill is expected to sign a contract when he returns from his honeymooon. Greg has also been offered a contract

North will still be able to keep hold of the ball better than Doyler can, he's the bit of strength we need up front. I think Doyle is slightly over-rated in Sligo, despite his record last season.
North's signing also means Blinks is gone.

Johnston also said that the club were in discussions with Marc Griffin over a new contract but refused to comment on whether Colin Hawkins had a clause in his contract meaning he would have to be offered the same terms as last season.
“We are still talking to Marc with a view to keeping him here. He produced the good for us last season and he has been at the club since he was 16 or 17 years of age so we want to keep him”.

Hes a youth player who came through last year and his future looks bright, obviously the club are going to try and tie down our "own" gems now or risk losing them for nothing elsewhere whilst the managerial situation is being resolved. Cian Byrne is another but he is playing in the youth league atm so I'd imagine hes tied down for now.

Did Peter Cherrie not sign a 1.5 year contact in the summer before Foster came onboard? And also Mulvenna was signed up wasnt he around Foster's appointment.

Cook has left a shopping list , according to North interviews in the papers nobody at Pats has been in contact with the players since the end of the season which is one of the reasons he left.
Well Cook's manager, so thats OK
Dundalk and pats don't have one, so I don't think the club should be talking to players. Pats and Dundalk obviously disagree on this
