Heard myself that we were signing Gannon but he is definitely staying with Rovers
I thought it was odd considering Sully was likely to leave. Glad he's staying.

Tidy BIG wage bill too, Sligo rarely got over 2,000 last season, I'm not doubting the quality, its the funding I would be concerned about if I was a Sligo fan.

Gaynor for example from us, he wont start and he didnt move for nothing.

Average attendance was 2,100. You do realise that we have lost quite a few players from last season as well that were being paid?

Hopefully we're not killing ourselves with it all but you can never tell for sure in this league what anyone is at (except that Shams are the model obviously)

I would say the contrary. For every club that has run into financial troubles in this country internet forums have spent the years before predicting it.

Haha oh dear.
Anyways the AGM is coming up so full financial disclosure will be given to the membership as always.

Thats because whenever a team signs a player another team wants the team that lost out fans are on " We couldnt match (insert name) massive offer...Dunno where they are getting the money"

IN: North, Boco, Gaynor, Lynch, Rodgers, and Quigley.
OUT: Clarke, Doyle, Ryan, Blinkhorn, Horgan (fee involved) and maybe more yet.
So no huge difference in the size of the panel. And unlikely to ge a huge difference in the wage bill.

Imagine re-signing one of your top players! Audacious! Reckless! What a badly run club!

As for rarely over 2,000 -- I take it your talking about home fans?

Delighted Dav is back on board. With Cook off to England next year, no doubt Dav will have better prospects contacts etc than festering with Shams 'squad system'!

I thought Richie Ryan was only on like a tenner a week or something like that??

Pats look strong, a few dodgy signings like Bolger and I don't rate Pat Flynn, but has the makings f a squad that could do really well.#maybechallange

That's over the table.....

I think he was on something like 400 a week 2 seasons ago when he was player of the year but that was certainly increased a lot last season or he wouldn't have re-signed

We don't believe any fee was paid up front.

I remember it being mentioned here that Richie Ryans wages went down to 250 the start of his player of the year season because the year before he had a poor season. I'm sure it wouldn't have had to come up too much to entice him to st what with the club having won the FAI and good feelin around the club.

We have around 14 players signed. Hardly a big squad. And how anybody from Dundalk knows that Gaynor won't start is beyond me. I think he will start.

Yup two seasons ago he was down to about 250 or so because the season before he was woefull, ya know when nobody knew him or wanted him. His contract was halved I think, not totally sure on that though.
But last year he was our biggest earner, and rightfully so given the turn around in his performances.

Because they assume he will be a squad player as Sligo have ambitions of winning the league and it's hard to see Gaynor being in a title winning team. Don't get me wrong if cook gets the best out of him you'll have a great player, one of the best crosses of a ball in the league. It's his overall attitude. He's really really lazy.

Before last season he was talking about moving as he couldn't "go back to part time". There's absolutely NO WAY a full time player was on €250 a week.

Also the paper says Sean Gannon is staying on which is contrary to what was on the St. Pats website.

There was nothign on the Pats website about gannon.

Corry and Aidan Price o be announced this week for Pats

250 was declared. The rest was under the table and skimmed off Westlife royalties from Mark Feehily.

Why does this thread always descend into a rumourmill about the finances of Sligo Rovers every time we sign/re-sign someone?
Pats are pretty busy as well but apparently dont warrant any idle gossip about how thery're going to pay their players.
I'd imagine all clubs are trying to strenghten within their means, so can't see why one club should be constantly singled out considering the conspiracy theories of the past have yet to be proven!
Just wonderin' where the jealousy stems from!

Charlie Darwin

There was speculation a few days ago about how Pats were going to pay their players, to be fair. It's kind of a thing in this league.

Part time or full time I have no idea, just a rough idea of his wages.
Like I said his wages were halved that season to about 250, and to alot of fans at the time including myself thought 250 was too much.
Half way through that spectacular season he had his wages bumped up and then other fans caught wind of how little he was on which helped feed the "under the table" nonsense.
Funny how nobody even knew his name before that season and we were the only club even considering giving him a contract.

For a man in his mid-40's he does okay. He's that type of player that he can be brilliant, average or invisible. Ollie called him the shadow of an enigma back in 2004, then turned down 100grand for him. Mad thinking of it now.

If I remember rightly it was a club in France (the manager was Partick Remy so maybe Lille? who was at Tolka for the return leg with Hajduk - ostensibly to check out Munoz). He went to the next home game in Split but then got onto Shels for Jo Ndo. Ndo looked a class apart then, a wee bit odd but good.

We offered him a contract but he's holding out for a Premier team/higher wage. Haven't a clue where he's going instead Marty but if I was to hazard a guess, then I wouldn't be shocked to see him end up at Shels.
