Find it hard to believe after last seasons antics from both Kenny and Zayed, but stranger things have happened

I won't believe it until I've read it on the ultras forum.

Well Bohs fans have an existing dislike for him so that's a start. Going back to his Tallaght Town roots.

Don't see that being a good fit, Kenny and Rovers, he could be running back up North before long. Good manager but just not the one to take the guff he'll get out in Tallaght.

I'd be pleased with that appointment, as I've mentioned before. The 1-1 draw in Tallaght was the best tactical performance by an LOI side I've seen in ages. And if there's any club to take players from with him, Derry probably have the best selection.

BBC have it now http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-16282268 and RTÉ are mentioning it on the radio too.

For me Rogers was the best keeper in the league last season so absolutely delighted about that signing.
I presume your ready for 3 out of every 4 kick outs going straight out for a throw ye ?

Would be very happy with Kenny. Proven in the LOI, proven in europe. Best domestic candidate for sure. It might not be the best idea to go for someone outside the league at this point as we really can't afford to have a manager coming in from abroad and having a "getting to know the league" season or a rookie like Kenny Cunningham who has studied the league for the last year, talks impressively but has no managerial experience whatsoever. Whoever comes in will have to hit the ground running and challenge at the top. A foreign based manager or a rookie may not be able to achieve that straight away.

best domestic candidate ? really ?
Good manager tacticswise - although prone to sitting back and counter attacking which will not suit shams (fans or players).
Hopefully the tears will be flowing again soon ;)

I know you didn't. You stated that all possible Shams managers would have been named FIRST on the Shams forum, before any other site. This is what I said was stupid
Why is it "logical" that that would be first place? Seriously? You are hear saying that there is not a chance, for example, that the Derry City fans would have mentioned Kenny going to Shams before the Shams forum would? What are you basing this on?
No one is mentioning who would or would not look at the forum. We are talking about what you actually claimed
Good one, keep them coming, shows your level
I really admire the dedication to pick through that drivel but really dont bother.

Yeah, that's what he was dubbed alright.
Did Sligo offer him a new deal matching or bettering his previous deal before it ended and via registered post? If so they get a fee, if not they don't.

Well done Sherlock.
Most are out of contract anyway and the only ones that aren't, you'd be breaking the domestic record for.

We just signed Shane Guthrie and as this thread gets more views than the official ins and outs one I said I'd ask in here. How's he been playing the last few years??
I only remember First Division Shane Guthrie (who was pretty decent tbf.)

Guthrie was quite decent up at pats season before last he had great partnership with kenna going, maybe it was the mickey mouse pitch you had him playing on in oriel brought his game down ;)

We where told Hynes and Behan where ****e too but both turned out to be good signings. Shaun Kelly was excellent with ye according to ye're own fans but was a part of the worst defense in the league with Galway Utd, he signed for us and turned out to be another good signing. I find from year to year players in this league especially can have very different seasons.
Hopefully if Paddy re-signs then himself and Guthrie can form a solid centre back partnership.

Had a terrible first half of the season with us in 2011, went from poor in games to terrible games to dropped to sitting in the stand un-injured. Hardly played a game when returned to Pats. No player can be that bad in such a short space of time, so maybe he had issues. Either that or not up to standard of PD.
A fresh start and a new division might be just what he needs.

Was great for us at the start of the 2010 season (along with Kenna). Got injured towards the end of thseason, came back and looked a different player. Way too many errors.
When he came back from his loan from Dundalk he played twice. Once excellently, once awfully. Got injured again
There were rumours that it was an illness rather than an injury.

Daryl Kavanagh was average with us. Good in fits and starts but when he got his attitude right seemed to do very well for Pats. The same could be said for Sean O Connor, he was nothing short of disgraceful with us, lazy, thought he was better than everyone and put no effort in. He did pretty well on his return to Pats.
A lot of things can come into play with regards to players performances.
Hopefully Guthrie can be a good signing for ourselves and hit 2010 form and not 2011 form.

Talking to someone that knows Guths they said his performance may have dropped because he became unsettled over being away from Tralee while his missus was pregnant in Tralee.
Might not be any truth in it but he said that he was mad to move closer to home so that could have had something to do with it.
Id be fairly sure he is better then Brian McCarthy and if that turns out to be the case then we have made an improvement on what was the 2nd best defence in the country last season thats fine by me.

From today's Irish Daily Mail:
Derry flashing the cash to hold on to Stephen
By: PHILIP QUINN
DERRY CITY have upped the ante in a dramatic effort to keep Stephen Kenny away from the clutches of Shamrock Rovers.
The Brandywell board have offered Kenny a two-year extension on top of his current deal, which would keep him at the club until 2014.
They have also promised to plough next season's €70,000 Europa League cheque into the playing budget to give Kenny (right) extra clout in terms of strengthening the squad. With his wife and four children settled in Fahan, just outside Derry, Kenny was last night agonising over the offer from Rovers to succeed Michael O'Neill.
Derry feel they have done all they can to persuade Kenny to stay but the final decision rests with the 40-year-old. Rovers remain optimistic they will land the Dubliner and have agreed to pay compensation to Derry of around €25,000, should Kenny accept their offer.
For the moment, Rovers are prepared to sit tight and a press conference planned for today announcing the Kenny appointment was put on hold.
-----------------------------------------------------
So it's Kenny call. Or the missus's maybe.

Karl Bermingham has joined LTFC apparently, along with Noel Haverty and Craig Hyland (Shamrock Rovers A keeper). Alan Kirby may also be signing, he's deciding on an offer from us it seems, he may get a more attractive offer yet I guess.
