Possibly Shane O'Neill... beggers belief why himself and Shields picked Dundalk over Pats, obviously money had a part to play in it.

Both are welcome to join Pats during the transfer window. They won't be missed.

Peers & davoren to shamrock rovers.

apparently them and certain other sligo players were only contracted until july? can any sligo fans shed any light on this?

pretty sure thats not possible. You can't sign a player to a contract that ends before the end of the season in the LOI.

Not exactly - Contracts cannot be for shorter then a full season, but once they met that criteria they can expire on any date agreed by both parties.

Example - Contact signed in March 2011 can expire July 2012, but contract signed in March 2012 cannot expire before end of 2012 season.

Of course if a club and player agree, a mutual termination agreement is possible at any time

Peers and Davoren both signed new contracts end of 2011/early 2012 so I think they would have at least the minimum season long contracts running to the end of the 2012 season. They will only be leaving Sligo if Sligo accept bids for them or they have minimum fee release clauses in their contracts.

Personally I don't buy all the rumours of Sligo getting rid of players because they're in financial trouble. They'd hardly have the money to be building a new stand if they were trimming the squad for financial reasons now would they.
