Stewart Greacen is meant to have re-signed for us after being let go by Glentoran. Maybe doesn't count as a transfer as we had him last year:D

Rumour going around town at the minute, but zero confirmation or evidence to back it up yet so wait and see cause this town is cat for rumours.

I believe it to be true, i heard sligo got fed up with Cook and him being linked with every job, seemingly he refused to attend the match the weekend.

They could have just stopped giving clubs permission to talk to him ?

Just heard Pascal Milien got the proper clearance to go to Sligo. Never seen him play live but he hasn't been able to break in to the Haitian national team aside from a brief run in their ill-fated Caribbean Cup campaign in 2010.

Bingo. That seems to be the point. No permission given this time. Going to St Johns would have been tolerable, Derry was never going to happen, but a third club in as many months, is a bit much.

Fair enough, this is a Catch 22 schizz. But no doubt he wants to go. However, if the contract is broken mutually, that's a poor move by the Committee for various reasons.

That said, Accie Stanley are fannying about saying they are happy to wait re the right replacement. That's fine for them but destabilising for Sligo.

Let Cook talk to Accie Stanley -- agree terms etc and make an offer. Then we can move on.

I said this after the Derry move and got a bit of stick, but if Cookie has left, I would prefer if he left on good terms -- seeing as he was the most popular manager since Willie McStay.

Anyone know if Michael Rafter is any good?...

Is that the Michael Rafter that was with Waterford?

Good source saying Cook is "close to signing" for Stanley, with Foster (of the Ian variety) looking like his replacement. But I figure it's been said too often to be a fact.

Foster has signed no contract with Rovers yet as far as im aware.
And most importantly it was Cook who wanted Foster in, not the board, if Cook goes I really cant see Foster staying.

Could be, but chose to be lazy and unfit last season so he was released midway thru it.

Rafter was with Colchester United in England but returned home due to homesickness, even though he was supposed to be doing quite well there. I heard he hadn't set the world alight with Waterford but he is supposed to be a quality finisher when he gets going. Commitment must be an issue then.

Who's he been linked with?

Training with Dundalk I think.

He was doing well and was in the Irish Under19 squad but since he came back it hasn't worked. Could well be quality player but Hendo gave him a big chance with us last season and he never took it. Was no-where near being fit and didn't start many matches because of it.

The McCaffrey factor again so.

Yeah, he actually signed a pro contract with Colchester but homesickness saw it being torn up. He joined the Fás football course then and I'm presuming that's how he won the Waterford contract. Disappointed it didn't work out for him.

Thomas McBride - Stute to Harps??????????

Wouldn't surprise me tbh. A Stute fan on their forum was giving out about his performance on Saturday...

McBrides performance yesterday was nothing short of a disgrace. From the word go it was obvious he wasn't interested and should have been replaced after the first quarter of an hour, I don't know why he was allowed to continue until so close to the end as we were effectively playing with ten men. When he was subbed he then showed his complete disrespect by walking straight to the dressing room without acknowledging the oncoming player or the call of one of his coaches and also the captain.
I hope he was told to keep on walking and not come back. He is of no use to the club, a disgraceful performance and attitude which could spread to some of the other players if not curtailed.

If he has an attitude like that I don't want him near the club.

He wasn't released from Derry because of his ability, its because he is a complete header. He doesn't have a brain, he is a quality player but spoils it with his attitude. Abit similar to a midfielder who was with Harps a few years back and Coleraine also, cant remember his name though?

Tony Shields I imagine. Another quality player who sadly lost the plot.

Wouldn't want McBride near the club if thats the case.

The "McBride is a header" isn't as clear cut as that. Im hearing there is alot more to that story than people know about.

The lad is a cracking player and I'd take him in a heart-beat, exactly what we need in midfield.

We've some 20 year old French fella on trial, Nicholae Millinceanu. A Google search brings up nothing, though apparently he was at Monaco and a few lower league French sides. He'll be playing tonight against Harps.

Why didn't you give him a bigger budget than he already got when he turned down Derry and St Johnstone, cant blame him really course he was going to f**k off....

Surprised somebody like Bray or Monaghan didn't take a chance on Alan Kirby. Looking at that Monaghan team in the friendly thread, it's safe to say he would certainly be an addition to them.

I'm sure some of them were on to him. Wouldn't be surprised if we've sorted him out with a handy day job, we did when he was here previously. He's always planned on coming back, lives in Longford, married to a local girl. I'm told it'll be done shortly anyway, I'd be surprised if it isn't.

Bray would probably be a bit of an awkward commute, wouldn't it? Can see why he'd go for a team in the midlands.

Longfordian
08/02/2012, 8:59 PM
Yeah, it'd be a bit of a trek, wrong side of Dublin from Longford really. Bray were talking about training first thing in the morning too I think which would be an additional ball ache.

He really should be one of the stand out players in the league. Great to have him back. Provided he does actually sign of course, he's supposed to do so today and was apparently hoping to have a run out against Pats this afternoon.
