If you seen fabio last season you would understand why Roddy did not offer him a contract

Apart from all the other more obvious reasons, I cant see why Shams would pay us a lump sum to break Cooks contract when money was such an issue for them with MON.
Maybe the contract he signed was an old one ;)
edit: Paul Corry hinting it's Martin Russell. Might just be taking the ****.

In fairness he's been the bookies favourite for a couple of days now.

Aw shur we have players offering to pay Roddy to let them play for us so we will be grand!
I'd offer Scully money for the chance to play with Limerick too but it doesn't mean I'm any good.

from irish times:
Devlin might swap Bray for Dundalk
PAT Devlin’s long association with Bray Wanderers could be ended today with the club’s long-time manager and director of football said to be on the brink of resigning, possibly with a view to taking over at Oriel Park, reports Emmet Malone.
Devlin has left the Carlisle Grounds before, having stints at Shamrock Rovers and in Steve Staunton’s Ireland set-up since first becoming manager with Wanderers over 25 years ago. But infighting among the club’s board members and Wanderers’ failure to set out a budget for next year appear to have frustrated him.
Devlin refused to confirm that he is interested in Dundalk but he didn’t deny it either. “All I can say is that I don’t see myself staying at the club with the structure we have in place at the moment,” he said yesterday.

Only as John Aldridge's assistant.

Depends on the lump sum I guess.
I don't think anything will happen though. I reckon the potential for embarrassment on either side if it didn't happen would preclude either party from stating their intentions. And I get the impression the board have been looking for potential replacements for a few months now.

I really rate Russell, but not sure if he's ready for a club of Rovers stature.
Sligos main sponsor Toners about to go bust, so may change the budget for the season. Cook phoning around looking for cash to anyone who will listen

Twould rightly bugger us over (we'd be down with Monaghan a bit of a way away from anyone else), particularly with Corry looking to leave as well.

Sligo have another main sponsor lined up and it's probably a better deal than Toners.

Thats a couple of months old. About the height of the 'Sligo are in trouble' rumours.
Since then they've signed North, Quigley, Boco etc

so you think coming from a club who regulary struggle in the league to a side challenging for all trophies and looking to equal last seasons euro campaign is an easy step up. I dont think he's ready just yet

every name in the running was first mentioned on the ultras forum so i'd take it with a pinch of salt. that said, i thionk we will need someone who knows the league otherwise it might be a case of starting over again. Kenny would be the best of a bad bunch

About as intelligent as your post. Braindead to think that the Shams forum is only place discussing possible managers. or are you telling us all you've been checking every forum in the country to see when they mentioned a certain manager?

was watching them the last couple of days. Went from 9/1 on Sunday evening, 11/2 last night, 3/1 this morning, 7/4 about 12, then evens. Now the market has been suspended
The caveat being that the market is usually small for these types of thing, and 3 €50 bets would have them scrambling

The courtship is actually the other way around.
Trust me, it's not.
What did Pat's fans make of Rogers last year? Any time I saw him he was poor.

That must've been the 2nd half of the year. Started off well, but tailed off fairly poorly. Plenty think this co-incided with GK coach Brian O'Shea leaving.
Was awful fo us in 2009, brilliant in 2010 and up and down in 2011.
I strongly believe there isn't much between Clarke, Doherty, Rogers and Brush (with a healthy Cherrie up there too). So if we end up with one fo them I'm happy. Clarke being the preference for being a Pats fan, obviously

Thought Clarke did well for us lat year. Sorry to see him go to be honest as he played well with our back 4. I know Rogers is an experienced keeper and have heard mixed reports about him but I hope he should be on a par with Clarke!

Cook will say what people want to hear, he's not goin to tell sligo fans that he loves rovers and wants to be our next manager. he's keeping his options open, any manager with ambitions will want to manage rovers

I suppose it depends on whether Cook believes he can win the league with his Sligo team. If he believes he can win it then going to Rovers isn't a step up for him. If for some reason he doesn't think he can win the league then I reckon he put his name in the hat for the job

Safe to say Rovers fans knew he was going/gone before most, a thread was started before he had even left on the ultras foum as to who would be his preferred replacement, all candidates named, including some completly random ones, suddendly appear in the usual rags as soon as he left.
