Lovely lad and a smashing sense of humour but his workrate is questionable at best, my abiding memory is of him doubled over, hands upon his knees.
I think he was talking about Daryl Horgan. You're talking about Derek O'Brien surely.

Well, it can't be Horgan, that's for sure! :D

EDIT: We've also signed Kevin Murray tonight.

Paddy Kavanagh and Wesley Charles could both be coming back to Bray.

..Just about 700 years added onto the average age of the team..must be well past it at this stage. Wasn't he last at Salthill but only lasted 3 games or something?

Well, we're losing Tresson from the team this year so the average age wouldn't be affected too much. Haven't seem him play since he was with Galway so I don't know if he's past it or not, or even if he's been interested in the game since his stint in Canada. He'll be 36 in December. I'd be surprised to see us bringing players in anyway to be honest, though I don't suppose he was on much of a wage at Salthill anyway.

As for Paddy Kavanagh though, no way can we afford to pay him what he was on at Rovers, or what he was on last time he was with us.

Thats a bit unfair, he lacks pace but I think he's done ok for us...if Cork sign him he'll do well for them again...

Still, it's no loss if you can keep hold of Sives and Oman. Two much better defenders.

Dan always has had a lot of time for City, only reason he left was to continue playing in the premier division when City got demoted.
Would be a very vital addition to the defence.

I'm a massive fan of Dan Murray yes he lacks pace but his desire, workrate and defensively qualities make up for that in abundance always thought he was treated very poorly by some fans.

Wesley was training with salthill for a couple of weeks. I believe he might have played a friendly match but not anything more than that.

Especially those who suggest Ken Oman is better than him. I have no idea why some people have a 'set' against him, I think he is a quality player and, clearly, a very good leader.
As for ourselves, we will be signing Gwlay-born players Alan Keane, John Russell, Stephen O'Donnell and Daryl Horgan. Once I win the Euromillions tonight

Every Rovers fan would be sad to see a quality player like Murray go, but it might just be that he prefers life in Cork and you can't really help that. Murray has those intangible qualities like leadership and an innate sense of positioning, but Oman and Sives are the more natural athletes and Sives at least is going to keep improving as he gets older. Oman is probably at his peak these last couple of seasons.

Oman is miles ahead of Murray, probably the best centre half in the league.

I know its an eglish side, but Liverpool apparently interested in Seamus Coleman. Sligo get a sell on clause when he left them i wonder? I asked this in the Sligo forum. I presume there is a sell-on clause, international caps clause, 100 appearances clause etc. I reckon Colemans worth around £5m in todays hugely inflated market. 10% of that and Sligo are on the pigs back...

Charlie Darwin

There are no sell ons I don't think. Unfortunately.

Even without a sell on clause Sligo (and his previous clubs) would be due 0.5% of the fee for each year spent with the club while Coleman was under 23 I think. A £5 million deal would see £25k per year paid out. A nice boost for Sligo and a very, very nice boost for his previous club (St Catherine's was it?)

Ah he's easily worth 50 million in that case so.

Seriously tho, people are going to say that we were mental not to get a sell on clause. But at the time he was sold Everton were the only team willing to pay a fee for him with one SPL and a Champ. level team willing to take him on loan. His contract only had a year to run if I remember correctly so the club did well geting the sale fee + first team app. bonus + 10 game bonus + international cap bonus + everton friendly.

He was supposed to come on loan for the latter part of last season but then got a run at Sligo and banged in a few goals so he stayed.
Did himself no favours in the Cup Final though.

I suppose we'd take him off Sligos hands if they were to consider letting Daryl come down too. :D

I'm more surprised to see Barry Sheedy and Shane Cusack on it. Two young players who are playing with our under 19s.

O'Flynn is out of contract and was out for pretty much the whole season so he probably feels he'd be crazy not to keep his options open instead of waiting around for an offer from Limerick.

Only Karl Moore of Shamrock Rovers on there. Can't say I blame him the way he was shunted out when Ricketts came in.

Has Paddy Kavanagh found a club then?

Dodge
21/11/2011, 10:56 PM
Players have to notify the PFAI. Some don't as they're talking to clubs etc

There'll be more Rovers when Europe finishes (Moore isn't in Euro squad)

Most will sign back with their old club IMO
