I assume that means there'll be streaming on the internet too?
Any word on tickets for the home game? Early days yet I know. Assume there shouldn't be any problem on the day? Hard to see Steaua selling out the RDS.

Cup replay was down for Tuesday, then moved to Monday but I believe there are ongoing discussions and the game could be changed again.

Pats get 200 category 1 tickets. That should be enough to cover the travelling support.

Correct, pats got 200 tickets to cover club/officials etc. I was talking to someone (a fan) that was heading over for the game. hopefully they will get a result, especially now they outnumber the home fans :)

So anyone care to make a prediction? As it's behind closed doors, I'll go for 2-1 to Steaua and all to play for next Week in the RDS.

2-1 to Steaua would be a good result for Pats.
I think we'll take it for granted that Fabio will score...

Given the lack of crowd etc I would hope for a dull quiet 0-0 (keep fabio goal for the RDS)

When I first heard of the game being played behind closed doors I thought the stains would be OK. However, I just learned that the Romanian's have played 12 games in European competitions behind closed doors - they've won 11 of them!

unlucky 13 ?
out of interest Pats fans, has the club made much profit from the Euro run so far? i know that Sadlier somewhat answered that on MNS without getting too specific. Also, if you progress against Stena Bucharest, how much is group qualification worth. Without wanting to tempt fate im sure you guys have done your maths at this stage!!

I'll go 3-1 Steaua, think its vital that Pats score out there (or else prevent Steaua from doing so). Apparently the pitch is in bits over there too so possibly this will help Pats some how even if it makes the game less spectacular! Think they could have brought a lot more than 200 fans over tbh, but hope the ones who are over there enjoy their trip.

Yup. Away goals absolutely crucial in these ties. Pats haveto score to have any chance of going through.
Are any other non-Pats fans heading to McDowells for it?

Was just going by the fact that a lot of fans werent happy that they couldnt go to Romania because of limited places, but just saw that it looks like there is only about 60 of them actually there, so maybe not:o

0-0 is nearly a better result for the home side in the first leg. they know they'd only need 1 goal in the 2nd leg then and pats would need two.

If Pats get 200 tickets for official etc, I'm assuming Steau will get a similar allowance - which will then inevitably go to their fans to an extent as well ?
It might end up feeling like a Sporting Fingal v Shels fixture at Morton Stadium.... :o)

My internet has been terrible for 2 weeks, with constant cut outs and slow speeds. So I might not be able to show the game. I will know when I get home from work, but I'm sure their will be streams around.

Nope 75 to cover players, officials etc.
The idea is that Steau are being punished not Pats.

I read in one of the papers yesterday (not sure if it was The Star or The Mirror so it must be true ;)) Steaua are only being allowed by UEFA to have 70 people in the stadium comprising players, management, support staff and officials so looks like they'll be the hottest tickets in town!!;)
Best of luck to Pats anyways, hopefully they can pull off a result!!

Its 90k a round from uefa. Getting to Russia cost about 45k apparently, malta a good deal less. we'd about 2,500 at the Valletta game and 3,000 at the Krylla game
If we get a result tonight, I'm sure we can get the crowd to cover the cost of renting the RDS for next week.
If we get through to group stages (which I highly doubt), it'll be worth at least two million

Hope Pats will doing well tonight. Steaua is a quite tough and experienced opponent but without the home crowd there is maybe a slight advantage for the Saints.

I'm bricking it already.
On just about every measure Pats have no chance, but I just feel this is one of the best "One round from the group stages" ties a LOI team has had recently. An away goal tonight would be immense.
Good luck Pats.

fingers crossed we get an away goal and keep it tight. Would love to bring them over to the RDS with everything to play for and get a decent home support.
BELIEVE.

As the man said. For tonight (Only) we should all be behind Our leagues representatives, so c'mon the Saints !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS this is not an invite for a discussion on those who do not wish Pats well tonight. We know the argument so leave it there please ;)

Extratime.ie Preview (http://extratime.ie/newsdesk/articles/2376/)
If St.Patrick’s Athletic were in dreamland following the most unexpected of victories over Krylya Sovetov in the second qualifying round of the Europa League; a victory over two legs against former European Cup winners Steaua Bucharest on Thursday would send shockwaves through European football and change the landscape for the Dublin club immeasurably (Kick Off 6:30 PM).
RTE Preview (http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2009/0820/steaua_stpats.html)
Romanian giants Steaua Bucharest stand between St Patrick's Athletic and a historic place in the group stages of the UEFA Europa League.
Jeff Kenna's side are attempting to progress further than any other Irish side has in European competition and one round better than they managed last season.
Irish Times: Kenna believes progress will be made
(http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/sport/2009/0820/1224252951379.html)
EUROPA CUP - Steaua Bucharest v St Patrick's Athletic: TWELVE MONTHS after coming up slightly short against Hertha Berlin, St Patrick’s Athletic will mount a second assault on securing a place of pride in the Irish football history books tonight (6.30 Irish time) when they take on former European champions Steaua Bucharest at the Stadionul Ghencea in the Romanian capital.
I think I'm right in saying no Irish club has ever progressed through 3 rounds of European competition before?
