Would like to see Motherwell do good under Jim Gannon.

What's funny about Derry going out...

Just back from the game tonight, the diving and cheating of certain CSKA players was blatant and why the ref only booked one (maybe two) of them for diving is beyond me. The main culprit was their forward, the guy who ended up scoring for them. He was warned numerous times by the ref for diving but because he was already booked from the first half the ref bottled it and failed to produce a second yellow for him. Anyway Derry did at least deserve the draw tonight and but for the free kick giving them an away goal and leaving us with a mountain to climb, 3 goals needed, it was an impossible ask. But the team kept going and the atmosphere in the Brandywell was magic. It's just a pity that they scored first because if we had scored first I firmly believe we would still be in the competition and entering the draw tomorrow.

It's now time for us to pick up our league form again and push for a european place for next season again.

Shame for the Derry lads, I honestly thought they had a better chance than us of going through, with the home crowd behind them.

Having said this, I know what the SEI will be singing on Tuesday now... :D

my reverse-jinxing worked a treat! :d just got in now, was 3-0 when i left for home. Unbelievable result.

I wouldn't be surprised if dundalk were fielding bids for fabio before the window closes. Regardless of his age, there are plenty of mid-ranking clubs around europe who would be perfectly willing to take a punt on someone with that scoring record in europe, almost sight unseen. Particularly when they could have him for buttons.

Unbelieveable these eastern european teams get away with murder with diving left rite and centre. Platini shud get the finger out of his backside and cut this out,
:D
Platini himself was the aristocrat pioneer of the somersault divers.

Great result for Pats.

Somewhat ironic that the club who did well in Europe was the only one that voluntarily made serious cuts in their wage bill in the close season.

Probably better for the league that Derry and Bohs' gambles have not paid off as they may have hoped. The sooner the madness ends the better.

Brilliant result for Pats and overall a good year for our league all things considered. Was looking at Bert's co-efficient site forum and if the draw is done in the same way as previous years pairs will be like this:

01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08
16 15 14 13 12 11 10 09
17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24
32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25
33 34 35 36 37 38
44 43 42 41 40 39
45 46 47 48 49 50 51 52
60 59 58 57 56 55 54 53
61 62 63 64 65 66 67 68
76 75 74 73 72 71 70 69

As Pat's are the 70th ranked side they will be in Group 7 as follows:

Seeded
-------
Hamburger SV *3 Ger 67.339
Ajax Ned 54.826
Dinamo Bucuresti Rom 25.781
Metalist Kharkiv *3 Ukr 24.370

Unseeded
---------
Dinamo Moscow @3 Rus 9.525
Rapid Wien ** Aut 8.565Bnei Yehuda * Isr 3.050
St. Patrick's Athletic** Irl 2.899

If the above is the case, very tough draw for Pats whoever they get. If they want a money spinner then it's Hamburger or Ajax all the way. If they want any chance of progressing or at least more co-efficient points it's Dinamo or Metalist... lets hope for those two so! :)

Thats some result , fair play to the Pat's players, at 3-0 you would forgive them thinking it was all over,
Good luck in the draw tomorrow, considering Pat's will be unseeded, I hope they get a Decent team that will pull a large crowd

Arent RDS and Thomond Park the only 2 venues at right standard? Hope they get a team who can bring a decent visiting support - help them make some sensible money.

Guess it's fair to say Pat's will be below the famous 65% cap this season:D

A certain council owned ground in Dublin 24 is Uefa 3 star standard (as per SRFC design ;) ) too but apparantly Pats are going to the RDS.

They are now in the equivalent of the 'old' first round. Officially, it's the play-offs. The bottom line is the winner of the next ties goes into the group stage.

A Samara fan posted on our forum, his description of the second goal:

our defender ****ed up while your mighty D.O'Brien break into the penalty area and pierced our goalie and the net. Can't say it is as nice as he did a week earlier in Dublin, but an awesome one for sure.****ing beautiful, that. :D OH FABIO!
