Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but someone on the CCFC forum mentioned that it might be the case that Steaua's home game be played at Excelsior Rotterdam's stadium?
Is this total ****** or is there some truth in it?

This has to be one of the best years for the L.O.I. in Europe, especially as we didn't expect the success Pats have had.
But this also has to be the worst draws for travelling to games and with only a few days or a week to plan the trips it really has been a feck up for fans.
I was lucky enough to get to Riga but it was the most expensive Euro trip I've been on and with the **** draw Sligo had along with Pats Russian trip and our couple of days notice to book for Sofia we've not exactly had the nicest of draws travel wise.
Now comes the news that Pat's game is behind closed doors which is a joke for those hoping to travel!
Here's hoping that next season the draw will be kinder for our clubs and our fans.
BTW A brilliant result for Pat's and the L.O.I. in general.
have been offline a lot lately - so i just want to say well done to Pats and Derry for their performances in Europe this year. Done the league proud. Despite the crap and negativity that surrounds the domestic game, its performances like these and Bohs going close against RBS that give me hope for the future.

You are completely correct, my mistake. Celtic-Arsenal is in the CL, not the EL.
Impressive lack of knowledge about foreign leagues though! Doing us LoI fans proud. We don't give a toss about what happens accross the water.

Brilliant stuff Pats. I was keeping in touch with the game but when they went 3-0 down i left it. Came back later that night to check the news and i actually couldn't believe my eyes. I was actually celebrating! Brilliant for the league. I'll be at the Steau game like i was at the Hertha game last year, cheering on the league.

3 fans to a game, don't start.

Not sure if many travelled to Holland for the 0-0 draw against Leonidas.

Also - the floodlight requirements are properly tougher at the next round (no idea what standard Rovers' lights are. Hopefully at the top of the regulatory tree).
Our floodlights are designed to host European matches. There's enormous power in those bulbs, and can blind you in 2 seconds flat.

...but your, sorry SDCC's, ground does not meet UEFA Cat 3 criteria so it's a moot point

Yep, thats easily worthy of praise in this thread about european football.
Well done!
As soccerc states, the bulbs might be quality, but the ground isn't good enough

Fans of clubs looking for a ground suitable enough know these things.
Still, enjoy your bulbs!

Or a financial god-send, depending on your view :D
I feel like I SHOULD be at every City away game in Europe. It casued me all manor of turmoil over the Sofia fixture, and saw me lose the cost of a flight without making the game.
Had the match been behind closed doors, it would've saved me all the hassle.... :)

ya, thats it, i particularly like these two columns:
"This isn't called devotion to a team. It is enslavement to a brand. All those baby-soap complexions peering out the windows of the Liverpool team bus last week pretty much represented just the recreational arm of a great conglomerate. "
"If anything, the timing headlined the strangeness of it all. On the day 'Liverpool' came to Dunmanway, Cork City just about side-stepped a Revenue winding-up order over tax liabilities and St Patrick's Athletic secured a remarkable European victory in Russia. "
Perhaps they could at least, have had the game in Turners cross, pay in and a percentage to both;)

Letter in the Guardian's fiver on Friday
"Maybe all these gaelic games fans writing in from Ireland looking for a football fix (Fiver letters passim) might like to comment on St Patrick's Athletic's Big Vase success in Russia last night? Didn't think so. They're probably too busy studying the TV schedule for the upcoming Premier League season"
(The Fiver use the euphemisim Big Vase for UEFA cup)

Except Cork City don't own Turner's Cross, the Munster FA do.

but Rafa Benitez (http://www.independent.ie/topics/Rafael+Benitez) and his boys were in Sweden (http://www.independent.ie/topics/Sweden) on pre-season chores.
Anyone with even a passing interest in the club would have been aware of that.
Weren't Liverpool in Norway? I agree with the article, but I guess it's ok that he, as a journalist, didn't know where the first team was while all those with a passing interest did. :D

I gathered what your point was, but i was suggesting they could come to some arrangement given the predicament they found themselves and there was a throng of people just 20 - 30 miles away wanting to watch football

I see ITV are showing Athletico Madrid v Panathinaikos in the Champions League.
If we all emailed BBC Sports Department, ITV Sports and Sky Sports asking could they broadcast the St Pats game because our national broadcaster refuses to then maybe, just maybe....
I know what you're all saying "What a daft idea". I know it is. Nearly as daft as someone from Dunmamway contacting Liverpool FC etc etc etc......

Why do RTÉ waste their time and money covering minnows like those fellas in Limerick tonight? Surely the public would rather see Irish teams excelling on the international stage like Pat's.

I'm fairly sure the FayeDunnaway game was to open their stadium though.
In which case, it would be strange to officially mark the opening of your stadium with a game 30miles away. At a different stadium. :)

Am I wrong in saying the Champions League game will be on a Tuesday or Wednesday and the Europa League game will be on a Thursday? So why are people talking about showing CL game instead of a EL even though they wont be on the same night?

I know what you meant comrade - it's that they're all foreign !
And we know what these 'forrin' types are like. They all stick up for each other and will have one over on our boys quick as a flash.
I don't even know why we play in Europe with these filthy forrin types. You can't trust any of them. It's bad enough having to go to Donegal to play, let alone all the way to Romylvania....
