They have other reasons for hating him in fairness. Playing for Dundalk was only one.

It was coming to be honest, Pats have been sitting back in the 2nd half. Could see Valetta nicking a 2nd.

Dispiriting, but hardly surprising. TBH Pat's were up against a superior team, 1-1 was about par for the course.

Surely a team from Malta can't be that good?

They might have said the same about a team from Ireland. ;) Maltese football has made reasonably big strides, and St. Pat's are a poor Premier Division side. I'd say they were about level pegging, at best.

Pats have been poor this season but still would have at least expected them to win the home leg.

On the strength of what I've seen this season I wouldn't expect them to beat anyone (in Ireland, much less in Europe.)

Well done Derry, another cracking result. And Pats not out of it yet, though I reckon they will be soon

Lets not be too quick to cheer on Pats, we're all gonna become honorary Valletta fans soon enough, considering they're Floriana's main rivals:D:D:D

Maltese football is still rubbish compared even to the standard in our league, pats obviously took them too lightly

its one of the lowest seeded countries isn't it? But why would Pats take them too lightly. Sitting back doesn't sound like taking them lightly.

Get that from watchin the game?
Didn't underestimate them. We're just not that good and we had 11 fit players.
Could've been further ahead at half time but tired badly. Doesn't bode well for next weeks game in 30 degree heat
Still we've beaten a lot better teams this year so hope isn't lost

It is a slight blow for Pats, they can compete with them, its not as if Valletta are class above, Valletta really have 2 good players Den Ouden and Priso and Priso is out of the return match. It is slightly similar to Sligo, could not score enough and give away the silly goal.

Well no LOI side has lost away yet this year. With all 3 matches finishing 1-1. Wouldn't surprise me if there was a 4th match with that score. Pats only need to score the one against Valletta to even up the away goals and although it will be hot there, it's hardly the most daunting away tie that a LOI side could be going to looking for a result.

Thinking this myself. Four draws in a row. Is this a record?

TBH Pat's were up against a superior team
They really weren't. Valletta were awful, especially in the first half. No 30 up front was especially useless; he'd stand still and appeal for the harshest of frees while the ball was just two yards away, all while a Pat's player nipped in, had a cup of tea and took it away and around him. They were timewasting in the first half, so were looking for the draw.
Pat's only had one shot on target in the first half I think, and got completely lost in the second half. Valletta scored a goal as a result of awful defending, and they had two other great chances to score (Rogers made a superb save from one). Valletta's keeper was awful from set pieces, but Pat's delivery didn't test him enough. Work on that and Pat's could go through. Otherwise, I think Valletta's improved confidence will see them win.

Was looking at the UEFA.com website there, was wondering if anyone knows if they show the draws online today like they have done in previous years?

Yes, they do.

Pats well in control in the first half. Good passing football (mostly). Whatever Kenna said to them at half time must have completely demoralised them. They just sat back and stopped playing after the break.
The Maltese fans amused me with their Premiership-style English language chants. Is nowhere safe from its pervasive influence...

Well it should be on in about 20 minutes and there's still no sign of a link to the page?
Maybe it appears on the site at 12.00 CET on the nose?

I only had the Pats fans' audio commentary (very entertaining too!) but it sounded like Pats had the measure of them in the first half but didn't keep it going after half time. "What does Kenna say to them at half time?" :D
I'd reckon that Derry will go through but Pats are 50/50.

Pat's looked good in 1st half and last 20 mins, but as usual, just kept passing the ball instead of looking for the forward - which is their real problem - no proper target man - Guy is a winger trying to do the job of a forward. They obviously don't have confidence in anyone up front & keep on passing to each other in midfield - no one wanted to shoot last night.
Sort that out & they are a better team than Valetta, but I don't see how they can fix it without a natural striker(or 2)

Yeah - "Come on Citeh, come on Citeh"; even managed it in an English accent.
Though they did also have the Italian style couple of people in the front with their backs to the game trying to orchestrate things. Didn't think they had much of a fan culture in Malta, to be honest.

A wee tip for any Bohs guys considering going to Zagreb if you meet them. Stay in Slovenia and travel to Croatia for game. We played them last year and stayed in Maribor and had a great time there. Travelled to Zagreb on day of game and back afterwards. The guys who stayed in Zagreb had to have armed police with them everywhere. They are mental.

:D Marginal. Seriously though, even when they went to eat in a restaurant they had an armed policeman with them. When we arrived we meet up with rest of guys in a hotel in Zagreb and there were armed police all over the place.
