Looked to be a fairly decent UCD crowd at it - was biggest i saw in a long time - even had a few flags, getting a bit of a cult following now Stu ? Drogs fans were very quiet.Wasn't that all the kids for the half time match standing in the covered terrace?

Athlone Town vs Finn Harps attendance was 489 with roughly 80 Harps fans present

Seemed like a failry standard crowd at United Park - 1700-ish?

less than that I would have thought pineapple. Might have just scraped the 1,500 mark.

For non risk home games there is always a fair few Drogs fans over in the away terrace. And there was a load of kids in it last night as OneRedArmy said.

Yeah, they were in near us. Don't know if he's talking about them though. There were ten of us in that group; maybe others elsewhere.

all drogged up

When UCD scored I looked over to see how many were UCD fans and how many were just half time kids or the local scouts.

I counted 11 people jumping for joy.

I think the mics were badly placed - drogs fans gave it their usual singing and whatnot - players didn't exaclty give it their usual effort - Shame!

Nothing to do with the mics - Drogs fans were mute last night. Don't blame them, given the tripe the team served up, but they were quiet pretty much throughout.

Date Competition Opposition Attendance
31/08/07 League vs Waterford United 1303

Should be a decent improvement in crowds for the rest of the season. There's a promotion for the Bray game and the remaining games should bring out close to the biggest Dublin attendances of the season, regardless of the form of Pats, Bohs or Shamrock at the time.

Think that's the figure given from the shels site alright. I'm not surprised one bit by the attendance.

454 from official website.

I'm surprised it was that low.

I'd expect a big crowd for the next home game against Shelbourne.

Are there still H&S limits on safe holding capacity?

Also, Shels attendences last year were **** poor.

Heh-heh. Nice dig though :)

I'm pretty sure that the Dundalk team of '95 didn't exactly test the capacity limits of Oriel too often though...

I`ve said it many times on here before, that 1994/95 side was one of the worst ever to win the lge, we won it with a combination of two freak results on the last day, lost around 8 games, and were only top once or twice before the final day - and yes you`re right the crowds that year were nothing to write home about...............then again the team cost zero to assemble and played awful football for 2/3 of the year !

Could we have a repeat of that year when the league leaders came to play an Athlone side with nothing but pride in their performance to play for.

Dundalk only won it because Derry surprisingly didn't beat Athlone away on the last day. We missed a penalty (was it Stuart Gauld ? Surely he wasn't still playing by then...?), and finished 1pt behind Dundalk. Shels also had a crap result, so finished 2 off the top.

Both Shels and Derry were tipped ahead of Dunbdalk to win on the last day.

Reagrdless - that was an exciting season, so no excuse for poor crowds in it.... :)
