Alright lads
just a quick update on all things leeside. training is well under way now and everyone seems to be enjoying it anyway. both the a team and the b team are getting good numbers so hopefully that keeps up and we are both going for silver this year.
we were due also to enter a c team this year and hopefully we will get the numbers for that aswell and numbers dont die off like most years when people cant handle the training. everyone at the club really wants to give things a go this year and everyone seems committed on the a team and b team, so far........
also it looks like derek is leaving but where is anyone's guess

Littleman, it's not that they do not want to do whats best for the club. The junior team took on lot of ballyphehane celtic players when they folded. The junior team was stronger than the senior team last season. Niall put in a lot of hard work with these players and got a nice squad together. The commitee aproached him and asked him to do whats best for the club and go senior. I don't think Minty had much of a choice to be honest.
I wouldn't say that the junior's were stronger, its just that they had some good players that were playing in the lower divisions

Fair point Casement but remember all we have to go on here is either what we have heard ourselves or what we have read.
I remember last season it did stand out that certain players were after going to your Aul side.
Players that everybody would have thought would have wanted to play at a higher level so we cant be blamed for thinking its a bit strange. All the same as long as they stay with your club its a good thing an how its all handled should be your own buisness.Your manager sounds like he has the respect of the players, junior or senior an thats all he can ask for.Best of luck.
Rebel sorry for the delay in gettin back to your question about the Liverpool coach'es up in our place. There were actually 3 of them that turned up.They had sent us over a couple of DVD'S of how they do their club pre season an we have bein trying to go along those lines but adapting it to suit a non pro side. They gave us pointers on what we need to be doing in pre season and then they spoke to the large group of players there an had a question an answer session about how their first pre season team training is done.Very impressive it was too.All in all it was a great experience for the lads.
Hey littleman, any chance you could give us a high level overview of what their pre-season routine looks like. I'd be interested to know if they do anything really advanced or do they do the basics at proffessional level also?
Don't worry you wont be showing your hand to all the other teams........

Well Pac I would have be like you in thinkin that they had some really fantactic way of gettin the players really fit quick but it aint.We were told their first team are away in China at the minute an they have 3, 2 hour sessions a day, cardio, weights an stamina in that order.
We have tried to encorporate 2 of the 3 with our hour an 45 mins,an a small game of ball to keep the boys happy at the end.15 mins max.Cause with most of the lads workin before they train doin weights may not be greeted well so we have left that one out.Twas an eye opener alright as they said they dont do any ball work till 2 weeks before the first game. They are pros so ball skills arent a problem to them, well there not supposed to be anyway.Ngog:p
Our lads thought pre season training for the an hour an 45 mis Tuesday,Thursday an Saturday is though never mind what the pros do.They told me that when the players finish the season an go on holiday they get diet plans an fitness plans an they have to keep with in certain limits with regards to food an drink. But with regards to startin basic pre season, hard work an lots of it was the key according to them.Small hard running as opposed to long runs which was a surprise to me because as long as Iv been doin pre season the long laps around the pitch was always considered a must..Short quick bursts of work, with only a little time in between the routines to get your wind back and try to keep the intensity up all the time.Must be some life though, gettin up every day to go training an play ball, paradise.

Cheers for that Littleman.
Like you littleman most of my pre-seasons included the long laps and continuos running. Then one year we had a guy come in specifically for pre-season. It was all high intensity, short breaks, not a single lap the entire pre-season. And it was definitely the best shape our team was ever in.
Munster and Cork hurlers utilize this type of training also, so definitely the days of long runs are in the past. Slow running equals slow players.
Sounds like things are going well up in O'Neill Park, anyone know how Blarney Street are getting on? Would like to see the league return to the northside.

think we did last year, but anyway has to be silverheights. Village back in the premier, lots of teams looking forward to that one.
I've never seen so many German Sheppards in one place.
Seeing as we have a Dillons Cross member on board now, thats nearly as bad....

Sorry Rebel but any little things that can give us an edge this year we are keepin strictly to ourselves;).But what I will say is the internet if full of sites offerin info on pre season routines ,have a look.
With regards to pitchs, look lads some of ye are lucky to have great pitchs, some of us wish we could have better an no doubt theres some that dont care what they play on.Village an Dillons place may not be paradise but if anyone has any ideas about winning a league you still have to beat them on there home ground an they can play ball too lets not forget.Village have a good bunch of players and are back preseason at this stage nearly 4 weeks. They wont struggle for numbers either so I'd expect them to do well. Our own place is'nt great but knowone can fault us for trying to get it as good as we can thats for sure. All the one what ya play on you still have to win.;)
With regards to the Street,I know they were back pre season last Tue but thats it.Very quiet other than that.
One thing I will say lads is that teams will find it hard this year, especially Northside teams.Too many teams an not enought players is startin to take a heavy toll on clubs. From the various rumors doin the rounds their seems to be clubs senior and junior(us encluded) chasin after a smaller an smaller pool of players.Tough times ahead lads.

Last year I was in Dubai in early June! Treated myself to a nice holiday in one of the top hotels in Dubai! It looks out at the 7 star hotel - there is a point to this so keep reading LOL - Anyway Jon Stead was there as was Joleon Lescott and Steve Harper from Newcastle (think its the same hotel where John Terry and Joleon Lescott were being tapped up by Mark Hughes this year) . Anyway the place had one of the best equipped Gyms I have ever seen ! And these 3 were in there everyday - and in fairness they were doing pretty heavy duty training when they were on holidays so Littleman is spot on with regards to the fitness programs they get - unfortunately we cant do the same when fellas are heading to Benidorm for 2 weeks or wherever they go - pre season is vital in junior football if its done right - too intense and the players are ****ed for the start of the season - not intense enough and you are struggling towards the end of games at the start of the season - Do people here feel its hard to get the balance right?

The whole thing hinges on 2 things,ATTITUDE / COMMITMENT.
If you have players who want to work hard to improve their game an be the fittest they can then you achive anything at your level.
Look lads we have all wished we could train like the pros an have the best of everything. An we couldnt because we never got the chance an now we have wifes an kids an jobs an thats our lot in life .We know our level.
But it cost nothin to have a pro attitude dose it.I want to train hard.I want to improve.I want ot win things. All this you can do for free.
Look up how the pros do their training, the stamina/cardio side.Suit it to your needs an away you go.Thats all it takes.Sounds easy dosent it,so why arent more of ye doin it.

What if the best players in your club wanted to stick together, say because they are buddies, the A team manager could force them to play with the first team, but they may walk. Minty may thought that if the B players had had no interest in doin whats best for the club then he may not want to be envolved with something like that.
We can confirm that Minty is gone and Niall has stepped up. Emergency meeting called last night at training supposedly Minty said he cant get a team together ( out of four training sessions 5 was the most players he had at the one time) stating anyone he asked declined so offered the job to Niall, Niall put it to us after training stating its vital that Casement have a good quailty senior side and that he thinks we should step up, no complaints from anyone. Only one condition we wanted was for Niall to be the gaffer and nothing changes only the league were playing in. So our planned assault on the AUL is switched to MSL :D Littleman they tried that last year telling players they must play with the top team if their good enough but as you said players will walk and they told them so last season.

There will be an AUL 2 team still there. Its lasts years senior team. They started last year as an AUL side but cause the commitee f*****d up appointing the new manager the junior side had to go up senior meaning our AUL 3 side had to go AUL 2. Those odds are a bit weird to say the least, Ballypheane are quoted as 80/1 last time I looked. Fairly short odds for a club that doesn't exist...
Separate note it'll be interesting to see the make up of the divisions, there are quite a few teams gone now...
Also Casement, I'm just trying to get it clear. The former 2nd team (AUL), i suppose squad is better than team. The AUL squad is now playing MSL and the MSL squad is going to the AUL? Am I correct in that. Will there not be problems as I thought in one of your posts you said there were only about 5 showing up for training for the MSL squad, or is there another team/squad training as well... Sorry for the confusion...

Sorry for the confusion... Its complicated inish even for a guy involved in the club but here goes, its lasts years Seniors who will be playing Junior this season not the 5 lads who Minty brought to training the past few weeks. The commitee was working on getting a league for another team(last years seniors) which is the lads who got the club out of a major hole last season when moving from AUL 2 up to MSL to save Senior status. These lads were not Senior players bar 1 or 2 but worked hard all season and stuck together and buying the club precious time to fix the mistake of not sussing out the manager they appointed at the start of the season so the committe decided the least they could do was keep them in the club and making up a new team for them but with Minty not being able to get his team going there was no need to start another team meaning they replaced Niall Harringtons side in AUL 2. Think that should clear it up ;)

Anyway, for now Casement Celtic should have 1 team playing MSL Senior 2nd Division and 1 team playing AUL 2? Yes?
A question not specifically aimed at Casement, but could be possibly answered by them. Why when a team joins or is a member of the MSL can/do they have a junior team playing AUL and not MSL junior? Examples, Lakewood, Casement, Ballinhassig, Ballincollig, Castleview, Leeds, Passage, probably others as well...

well they needed to find 2 teams to make up the Premier A numbers, I think the word at the end of the season was Greenmount would go up as runners up in Div 1 (remember controversy over match abandoned with 1 minute left to play).
The next best 1st division sides in terms of points would have been Buttevant & Richmond in 1 & 1A runners up on 35, strange there are 3 other division 1 teams (Ballyvolane, Rylane and Postal Celtic) that accumulated more points than Leeside B, oh yeah just spotted They'd hardly promote Ballyvolane as their 1st team is Premier A anyway.
I don't know if other teams have been asked/offered but it'd be interesting to see what others think. Should they look at relegated teams???
League structures will have to be modified a lot as those 1st divisions that provide the teams will need to find an extra team to make the 10 team divisions. I do think this is a good format, to have as many divisions as possible 10 team ones as it leads to less of a fixture congestion at the end of the season.

Lads i'd say it will be a while before we know the league formats! Looking at the MSL forum there it was suggested that Passage are amalgamating their two AUL sides - Also Lee Rangers, Albert Rovers, Dunbar B, Glenthorn Celtic B and 2 Casement teams it seems are gone from last year so it looks like it wont be an easy job to organise this season!! I also have a feeling there will be a few more to add to that list!
And of course not forgetting Ballyphehane and Villa

That's a lot of league games (22) for teams that will probably all enter FAI and MJC with the hopes of getting to the "out of town" rounds. Add in the AOH and Mossie cups the Premier A season could be running for ages (throw in the weather we're currently having).
I'll be honest I thought the 10 team divisions was a very good thing.
All the best to Blackstone, I saw ye last year and have to admit looked a very strong outfit. If ye've added to that I could really see ye challenging.

We've done it for the last two years and it's been very beneficial in my opinion. Training is varied and tough but you know you're doing the right stuff. If you have fellas who are qualified to do it inside the club then great, if not i'd try and get someone in who knows what they are doing to prepare your team properly. I dont think the AUL intend to have a 12 team division, so some of those offered before us must have turned it down.
My mother summed it up best on the phone: " I heard ye are in the Premiership"...........................Bring it on!!
