Our B team are playing Dunbar Celtic away this weekend i think. anybody know anything about them? whats the pitch up there like etc.?

Howya Kingcorner, Dunbar are a bit of an unknown quantity to everyone at the mo, their 2nd team had a good start in AUL2 last season but pulled out after about 8 games.... Think there was internal problems between the 2 teams. their first team was relegated from Prem A too last season but have won 2 from 2 in our league so far as you prob know. They obviously got things back on track during the summer cause they have re entered the 2nd team in AUL3 also & they are doing well. Never got anything easy from any Dunbar team in the past either.

We are away to Killumney on Sun, do you know which pitch they use in Killeady?? I know there are 3 decent pitches + 1 at the back that is very narrow & short...

Watched ye against the Hall (our local rivals) lasy Friday week, very impressed with ye, good solid team with no lack of committment. Look forward to seeing ye in the league soon, gonna be a long tough season - hopefully!

Cheers,
Doug89

Hi Doug, they play in the pitch to the right that is furthest away from lane on the right, ie. behind the old Shandon Celtic pitch (not the one at the back), one of the better pitches in Killumney. Of the 5 pitches there it is one of the better ones. Definitely better than one just below changing area and better than Shandons old pitch...

Cheers for that Doug,

I think they will have it tough up there alright as you say no Dunbar team have never been easy opposition in the past anyway. Very good start so far by the B team. Have a very strong squad as you seen yourself out in Douglas which was a very big win.

It is a such a long season this season so you really need to start well to keep the interest up and so far so good in that sense for us. You guys have also started very well so that will be another interesting game when we meet ye. I dont know too much about ye but your record so far speaks for itself!

The better the pitch the better the game, well they say anyway.Na Bella we trained well during the week an the lads are really looking forward to the game.Plenty of bodies available so a few selection headaches but its what we wanted this year(a big squad) so the 18 who get to tog off should appriciate it.See ya Sunday @ 3pm.

These were before the weekend
Prem
Grattan Utd 5/4
Leeside 9/4
Glenthorn 5/2
Kinsale 5/2
Park 11/2
Wilton 10/1
Blarney St 14/1
Village 20/1
Knockavilla 20/1
Coachford 33/1

Stingy odds on the gratts this year, from what i've seen this season without figo they don't deserve these audacious presumptions as they have the attacking prowess of a box of heroes.

Horse we played Mayfield Utd today in 1A, their centre forward tall fella was a real handful, someone might know his name, worth putting on the list.

I heard Douglas Hall are very strong Doug89, and playing at home on that all weather pitch gives them a huge advantage. How did they look in the game against Leeside that you saw?

I'd imagine it was hard to judge Leeside as i think you cant really judge a team playing on those all weather pitches. But if they won they must also be strong.

Good win for Village today against Park. I know Village were struggling for the first few weeks due to a lot of injuries and I still feel they'll be a match for most premier teams up in Silverheights. They have a striker Howie Coakley who is a huge talent if they can keep him interested.
Leeside for them up there next week so a good test to see where they're really at.

Another big win for Leeside today 7-2 away to Everton. Everton's third team i believe so maybe not as impressive as it sounds.

Alright Pacman, the Hall are strong this year, they have brought a few good youths through from last year and still have a few older guys who are well experienced. Against Leeside they were just about muscled out of it, Leeside looked a bit more composed and prob deserved the 3 pts.

Everton 2 - 7 Leeside A
Dunbar Celtic 1 - 4 Leeside B

3 good results there, long may it continue

Killumney 3 Grangevale 1

Disappointing result today for us. Sometimes though you have to hold your hands up and admit that we just were not good enough and were outplayed almost all over the park. This Killumney side will take some beating, a bigger more physically strong side will be hard to find. Fair play to them - good side.

Bit of a suprise result but its been coming for us with a while... Finally clicked in places today.... Carrig look like a team who will be up there at the end of the season though....

Coachford 1 -3 Kinsale.
Led 1-0 and should have scored at least one more before Derek Mc equalised with a terrific header, Into injury time in 1st half our full back got sent off for handling on the goal line. Penalty converted by Derek. 1-2 at half time. The extra man for Kinsale was too much and a last ditch tackle in the box led to another spotter which gave Derek his hat trick and a ticket into the next round. Better performance from us but still searching for our 1st victory of the season

Coachford "B" 0 - 1 Kilmichael Rovers ( West Cork league )

Big shock there, well done bella, great win for ye.
Thats two cup exits for Grattan now, i get the feeling though they might not be overt disappoointed though. Its hard to judge their form at the moment, away to Wilton next week will be a huge test.

Lets see what happens

Must say they seemed massively disappointed to be knocked out today, they hardly happy to be out of the fai, and between their players and the sideline they really wanted the win, had a player sent off after the game and all, we'll take major pride from that result today, nothing will take it away from us. On the subject of the sending off dont have a clue what happened but that ref was equally brutal today, do feel sorry for the player, must have ben tough to take he was probably massively frustrated by the refs pefrformance.

Hope they thump wilton next week, 1 thing i will say about them, their a proper footballing team, ooze class. And for horses benefit the 1 player we were talkin bout after the game was the lad with red boots left wing back, v good player. Great delivery and ability to dribble and beat players. Littleman will have his name

I didnt mean that they were not disappointed yesterday Bella rather in the grand scheme of things i bet they would rather have lost to ye instead of wilton next week thats all.

Again great win for ye, didnt mean to take anything away from ye

Very disappointing performance from Park.Wasnt at the game but from what i was told they missed 2 sitters and gave away a stupid penalty.
Village put in a good performance and a lot of teams will find it hard up there.

Dillons Cross 4-1 Strand Utd, Could've been more, they're a tough physical team, just a bit raw, they had a few skillful players but our experience showed, they had a player sent off towards the end, dunno what for, The referee missed a few clear penalties for us aswell, and let the game get a bit nasty by not taking control, fellas were getting theyre own reveenge because the ref wasnt doing anything about bad tackles and the likes. Back to the league next week against Park. Our first home game in 5 weeks, Silverheights is like a jungle at the moment, should be tolerable by the weekend.

Thanks for comments on pitch/setup...
Talking to lads they'd agree with you could have gone either way... From the reports the Blackpool keeper made 2/3 top drawer saves, both sides had their periods where they were on top but that the visitors definitely had the better of it in the closing 30 minutes and we were fortunate on an offside call late on...

Wasn't planned, was just a spur of the moment thing. Thought a draw was a fair result. We were down a few with hurling championship and a christening. I felt neither team did enough to win it tho. How about yourself?

was aul manager at any games last weekend? went to see them play munster 17s on monday night, won 4-2 i think left with few min to go. wasnt a great performance really, 2 centre halfs struggled in first half, dont know them and they had lad from castleview in midfield, good ball player but not the most mobile for a centre mid. where missing a good few i say, 2 dereks where missing and i say the 2 centre halfs from grattan where missing also. ricky getts came on at half time and scored 2 from right mid. not v impressive overall by team and at end of day must remember it was men against boys!
Good win last week bella, you have seemed to keep littleman quite all week, doesn happen much!!!! :-)
beat everton 7-2 last week, 2-2 after first 25min was very sloppy but after that got things right and kicked on from there. not a bad team at all everton for their 3rd team, some nice players.

They played on Villages pitch, I think our one is slightly better once the grass is cut. Bluey I'l be taken a look at ye again today up in Silverheights, grass is 6 inchs high at least an a gale force wind is blowin as we speak so it should make for a super game of football,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Also for those who think I should have come up with some sort of excuse for loosin the Fai an Mjc games, sorry but that would be pointless an a bit disrespectful to the teams who we lost to,how we lost both games we are only to aware of and
as I have already stated I hate loosing any game, but what solace I can take from the defeat is that it wasnt points lost. To say we were gutted after the game is an understatement but at least now what we are left in we have a genuine chance of doing well in an we can put all our efforts into the league an cups in the Aul.

Saw the draw for the Aoh,some interestin ties alright.

Bella congrats an best of luck in the next round, the pitch was top notch as well.

Wilton tomorrow if the weather calms down, lookin forward to the game I must say,an moreso to havin a chance to play a game against one of the best sides I personally either played against or watched in the last few years.

Wilton 2 Gratts 1

A tale of 2 halfs for sure,we gave away 2 real poor goals in the first half, especially the 2nd but the joys for us at the minute.Gave a top class Wilton side way to much respect an space a got caught twice.Absoloutly battered Wilton in the 2nd half.Goulding scored with 25 left to give us a chance of pushin on but despite hitin the upright an and Alberto pullin off a string of superb saves to deny us it wasnt to be.Our 2nd half display was as good as iv seen this team play but again we have only ourselves to blame for the dropped points. We will learn from it.

Bog the 50/50 was in releation to games bein in danger of bein cancelled, are the travellin side in the position to say their place is playable an it will still be counted as their away game even though it was played in their ground.Yesterdays fixtures
