On the subject of Passage V Park does anyone of ye actually believe ye can mount a challenge to Bohs in league 1A??

Marty on the teams we have played so far this season they stand out on their own, but I also thought they were the best team we played last year and they ended up 5th(I think) I suppose it depends on how much they want it. But it seems to be the case too often that one team comes out of the blocks so fast and it makes it difficult for everyone else, at the moment (Bohs aside) everyone seems to be taking points off everyone. We just need a couple of teams to take some points off Bohs.

Hey Marty i agree with what Radiostar is saying. We took 4 points of Bohs last year.3-1 away and 3-3 at home. They have a strong team but i think they lost their winger to Grattan this season.
As Radiostar said everyone is taking points of each other but Bohs have 15 points out of a possible 15.
But they are beatable and hopefully starting this weekend Mayfield will be the first team to take points off them.

Marty, I'll throw my twopence worth in on this one too!!! We played Bohs in St. Michael's Cup 2 weeks ago & lost 2-0 to them up in our own place. Must say though, we were very disappointed, don't get me wrong, they are a fine side, strong & very fit - but beatable... We had at least 10 corners in the 2nd half and did everything but score.... if we were still there I'd say we still wouldn't have scored - one of those days, we were 1-0 down after 20 mins and they got the 2nd goal with 5 to go when we threw everyone forward. To make it even more annoying was that last week we got 8!! Now, obviously, the opposition was alot weaker but everyhting we hit last Sun went in, even our keeper almost scored from a kick out!!! So, I suppose what I'm saying is despite the fact that Bohs are defo a force to be reckoned with, they are definitely beatable but it won't be easy & ye'll have to be sharp in front of goal & put your chances away when ye get them....
All the best
Doug

Would have thought that aswell, but Mayfield are missing a few lads to the GAA this weekend, Its hard to judge anything this early in the season as teams are still unsure of there strongest 11, and I dont know how strong the teams theyve beaten were. next few weeks will tell alot on the mucky pitches in the crap weather

Limerick beat Kerry 3/2

Limerick have 3 pts an a goal difference of plus 1.
We have 0 pts an a goal difference of minus 1.We need to hockey Limerick basically.

We actually signed both Bohs wingers Hallessey an Callaghan.

in the limerick game win by 1 goal and all teams level on 3 points and 0 goal diff so it'd be limerick on goals scored - win by 2 and we're through... Either way it is great that they still have a chance and it is in their own hands... Is it just me or are Kerry out nomatter what the result???

Ur correct Innish,Kerry are out. They have 3 points from their 2 games an a goal difference of 0.

A one nil win would just put us an Limerick an then it would go to results against Kerry,we lost they won, they go through.

We have to win by at least 2 goals, plain an simple

We played them at the start of the season,we beat them 2-1, they've a few handy players but i'd say ye're a better team, small fella up front a bit tricky, their pitch is nearly worse than ours, ye'll need someone fit playin right back and left wing cause thst part of the pitch is just a hill. I think people got carried away by Bohs beating some of the weaker teams{not saying all of them}, early on. Good result by Mayfield though. I'd say its gonna be a tight league this year, everyones capable of beating anyone on their day.

For the 4th League game running, I tell the story of a game we didnt win but should have. The other two defeats were our own fault really, but this one was a little different.

Friday night football up in Castleview - we went one up and had a good shout for a push-in-the-back peno. These calls can go either way so we lived with it. Us with all the ball, Castleview very dangerous on the break. 1 up at the break. Castleview had more of the game in the second half, and equalised with a deflected shot on the hour. 5 minutes before that, we had a shout to make it 2-0 with a ball that looked over the line, but ref was close so maybe not.

We went ahead again 60 seconds after the equaliser, and Castleview pressed for the equaliser. Then came the moment that changed the game. Our Centre forward was upended from behind in the area, ref 10 yards away, no pen. In 20something years of watching football, I cant recall a more blatant peno not given.

It deflated us and lifted them to push forward and equalised inside final 10, and score the winner near the end. Heartbreaking.

The ref has reffed our last two games, and actually reffed both very well, save that one call. Makes it harder to understand how he got it wrong. Ball didnt move, so no contact from defender to ball - both ended up on the ground so no dive - cant work it out.

Olly must be still sick, seeing as we havent seen his post yet!

Roy Kenny from Castleview stood out. I will let Olly call our players.

They were also the holders of this trophy for the last two years, so it was a game they did not want to lose. Conditions were very heavy and they had more of the ball. But we got the all important goal that puts us into the hat for the next round.;)

We lost 2-0 away to Wilton today, we played very well in the first half and should have been one or two up, were not taking our chances of late, JJ didnt even have to make a save in the half, they came at us after the break but never got behind us until we had our centre half sent off after about 65 minutes for two yellows, then the inevitable happened. Not too disheartened by the defeat the performance was good and if we play like this in the league every week we should win most games. I have to add that the referee was excellent today, he talked to the players and let it flow and you could speak to him, not like the usual who are like school teachers and treat you like your 12, We were never gonna win the FAI cup anyway but it would have been good to get out of Cork

A good win for ye indeed to put out the holders in the first round will give ye great satisfaction and confidence, no doubt.

We had 2 late withrawals and had to re arrange positions. our keeper also had the flu and our centre forward played in goal which obviosly doesn't help.
Ye outplayed us in the first half, cutting us open on a few occasions, first goal was a badly defended corner but a nice finish all the same. Second goal was freakish. long ball
(attempted cross caught the wind and flew into the top corner) i reckon any regualr keeper would have caught it TBH.

We came into the game in the second half and pulled one back with a great strike from around 25 yards. Thought we were gonna have a right go but 2mins later the referee gave the most dubious penalty ive seen in a while. your player went down the right and seems to over run the ball and slides as our player makes contact. out for a goal kick? no the ref immediately points for a peno! The markings from the slide were plain to see on the wet surface(clearly 6-8 yards away from the perfectly lined penalty area) our players were astonished but the ref wouldnt go back on his decision and ended up sending one of our guys from the line and booking numerous of our players for disputing this! Your players were laughing themselves at the desicion but thats the way it goes i suppose.
The penalty was a nice finish and knocked the wind from our sails. We continued to play well and will take alot from our performance with 10 players.

Best of luck in the rest of the competition. Its nice because a couple of wins and ye wont be far from the cross!

Also credit due for the pitch quality and drainage. Also the pitch was well signposted and thanks for the invite for the sambos which is always well appreciated! Look forward to coming back for the league game hopefully for 3 points !!

Bog,how we lookin for the weekend, will the pitch be ok.Lookin forward to it big time.

On another matter I dont see why Springfield should be underdogs against any junior side at the minute, themselves and Glenvale are the form sides in the junior game at the minute I'd fancy them
to beat anyone in a one off game.

Ballvolane lads, whats the story on Kanturk? Strenghts/Weaknesses - what would you do different if you were playing them again this weekend?

DCross, we had that ref a few weeks back and he was excellent too.

3 Excellent.

3 Off days.

By the way, our results are not in tandem with refs performances. We won one of th off days and lost one of the excellents.

Arite lads,

Donoughmore are a handy side as was mentioned. We played them in their place earlier on in the season. Big flat pitch. Dunno what it's gonna be like after the rain. They'll be competitive for sure. Nice jerseys!

Alright littleman! No games were played on our pitches last weekend. There's always good drying down in charles fort so hopefully the game will get the go ahead. We'll do everything we can in anycase as no game in 2 weeks and the lads are dying to play some ball. Is the AUL game the week after next?! If that's the case it could potentially be a month without a game? I'd wager it will be on! Have ye any injuries I should know about?!

Our B team were playing them last weekend and i went down to watch it. If you are playing them away then be prepared for the worst pitch in the history of the AUL, cow crap all over the place and grass up to the players ankles in some parts. I heard that the ref didnt want to play the match because of it but both managers agreed to play it. They are a very physical side and sullivan is a handful up front but is pretty slow. they have plenty pace in midfield though. The gaa season is over for them so they should be full strength.

In the end we won 2-1 with a last minute winner but not before a man each was sent off! After the game the ref handed out a few more reds to their players for constant complaining.
