A weekend of shocks so it seems - on saying that though Kilumney are a good side Littleman and sometimes these things happen

Bella - Anto Meighan is one of the few players to survive from last years Hibs squad - a good player and a great clubman too

Yeah alot of the richmond team we played last year were with them today. Yeah he was a threat alright tbf.

That would be about right Bella - Terrence Mc Sweeney the manager - was in charge of Richmond B last year - he played with Hibs for a few years not too long ago!

Good one Bella, a sense of humor in dire times is always a welcome thing. Some head the balls on here get odd at the drop of a hat,or a comment,me lifes too short an its only a game after all.We dont get paid to play so you'd be foolish to think your gettin a professional attitude. We put out a team that was strong enough to win, they didnt so theres no use in makin excuses. As iv said Kilumney won an deservedly so.

Tut tut littleman - we are all level headed individuals on here :p
I'm guessing ye made a few changes littleman to use the squad?
The league is and should be the most important competition for any club in my opinion

Ya i was Doug,

It was a good game we let in another early goal seems to happen a lot this year, but we got into the game and had the better chances in the first half only for your keeper to be in the way of everything, he made some good saves! Then we were reduced to ten after about 35mins, straight red for abusive language. We equalised after 5mins in second half and gave as good as we got but eventually tired and got caught on the break, your centre forward scored a great goal from outside box on the half volley we chased it after that but never looked like pulling it back, made it harder by conceding an o.g.then in final 5mins we scored from penalty.
Must say ye are very well organised and best of luck for the rest of the season!

Yeah Radiostar this is my second season with them,we needed to win this as we had a poor start to the league so this should give us a much needed boost--pity we cant continue a league run into next week as we have the second round of the F.A.I cup (I think its that cup anyway) at home to Glen Celtic but their 1A anyway so should give us an indication of what lies ahead!

Thanks Radiostar, all the best to ye aswell. Was talking to the lads this afternoon & to be fair they said if ye had beaten us 4 or 5-3 we couldn't complain only for our keeper saving our bacon on a few occasions... He (Gary Ahern) is playing very well this season. He was sub keeper on the AUL squad last season, hopefully he will play a bigger part this year. On that subject, glad to see the Oscar Traynor games being played on Fri nights this season. With so many games this year, it's handy that we won't have free weekends beacause Gary is on AUL duty, wasn't too bad last year because we had only 16 league games but with 26 this season plus cup games, we will need to be playing every weekend weather permitting

Park A 5 - 0 Kilreen
Mayfield 5 - 0 Park B

Great win again for first team.2 each for Gary O Connor and Eamon O Sullivan and 1 for Dave Dineen.
From what i heard the lads were in total control for the whole game.Played some great football and kept a clean sheet.

The less said about the b's game the better.Things were going great before this.Average of 20 players at both trainings last week.Great buzz in the squad.
Arrived at Mayfield Park to be greeted by Barry Peelo for game of the week.Lads were well up for this game.Made 7 changes from win over Glen last week. Were 1 down after 5 minutes but came back into it and held our own until half time.
Then it was just mistake after mistake all over the pitch.Mayfield hit 4 more in the second half.
Lets home we can bounce back from this.

Bella we played the game out in Kilumneys place. The pitch was in good nick,a few rabbit holes sprinkled around alright but I like rabbits so I wouldnt use um as an excuse.:pNo as I siad we had a team well capeable of getting a result an we had more than enough oppertuinitys to put the game beyond reach but as we all know if you dont put the roundy thing in the net when you have a guilt edge chance, then if the opposition do it to ya then ya only yourself to blame.

It was a good game all told.Kilumney were tough an fit, they beat Knockavilla the week before an I spoke to the ref who did the game an the manager of Knockavilla to see what they thought of Kilumney so we knew what was comin our way.I think if you have 4 or 5 corners in each half you should score from at least 1 an we didnt. We had 3 direct free kicks at goal an maybe 5 or 6 chances that we should have scored from an again we didnt score(credit the keeper with 2 tasty saves). Our frustration at not scoring only seemed to spur Kilumney on.The 2nd half we wasted so many scoring chances you could almost feel it would be Kilumneys day.To cap it all of with 2 mins off normal time one of our subs rose to meet a cross from Cans as if he was going to bust the net an it hit the inside of the post ,the keeper just turned expecting it to go into the net an it bounced into his hands. If your lucks not in then thems the joys.

They have a huge center forward who was excellently man marked by our center half Paul Lynch throughout the game till we stuipidly waited for an off side call that was'nt an off side at all an the one time the center forward got a chance he stuck it in the net.Fair dues to him. That was in the 2nd minute of the 2nd half of extra time.Kilumney played the clock down very well after that an even with all the pressure we were puttin on them the harder we tried the worse our delivery got.The 1 nil game didnt do justice to the game itself, keepers an defences on the day played very well, while midfields an forwards were not so good, again on both sides. But ya have to give credit to Kilumney,we may have had the larger proportion of outright goal scoring chances but we didnt take any an they did,we will learn a few lessons from the game.We were way down after the game as you would expect but you cant dwell on it.

It was a loss but it was a cup game an it wasnt 3 point lost. That makes it a little easier to take, but I dont like losing any game,to anyone so we will be stronger for it in our next game.

I bought a good lot of them before in Argos - players and refs seem to think they are training balls for some reason  - 2 years ago I was told i couldnt use a yellow ball in a match - i have no idea why!!

We used yellow Mitre Ulimatch footballs for the semis of 2 Aohs,an 2 mossies an countless A ans B league matchs over the last 4 seasons. The B team currently use a yellow Mitre Ultimatch ball got in Argos. In all my years envolved in the game I have never (and I'll repeat this for any refs who may be lookin in ) been question about the validity of a match ball by any ref.At most they check to see if its pumped up enough, thats it.Iv come across prem sides usin training balls this season already for match balls an Im not even sure the refs would know what to look for in releation to the reguired branding on the specific matchballs allowed to be used in our game.

I think the footballs in Argos are fine - but as I said I was asked in the past not to use one of the yellow ones - so I used one of the white ones instead - they were out of the same box!!! -

Even if you got two lots Dcross thats only 76 euro and you will have 4 very good footballs - A Mitre max costs upwards of 50 now doesnt it??

And littlemam just because it didnt happen to Grattan doesnt mean it didnt happen :p I do recall you saying before that Grattan played a match where no nets were used - bizarre - never happened in a match that I was involved in but doesnt mean it didnt happen!! Local soccer is full of strange occurences

A little info to sway your decision.Kerry play 4/5/1.There side is made up mainly of players currently playing in the league of Ireland under 20 an A championship for clubs in Kerry. They are very organised an last season had us dead an buried in the first half.A change of formation an players enabled us to get more physcial and stretcch them on the wings, hence the turn around an win. There not small in midfield and very comfortable on the ball, very comfortable.Anything other than 3/5/2 against them would give them a massive advantage.

I think its a very safe and conservative pick, I think 2 Ballyvolane players who are worth a look would be centre back Mark O'Mahony(kept Varian very quiet in Mossie Linnane final) and Martin Cronin(striker/winger) Littleman you should remember this fella!I also think Trevor Hallissey should have had a shout, I thought he was the best player I watched last season( a nice recruit littleman)

Not familiar with the other 2 Radiostar but that Cronin lad is definitly worth a look. Also very surprised that Ricky Gettings is not included.
2 guys definitly worth a look are Dave Dineen and Eamon O Sullivan from Park.Dave is captain for the year after deservedly getting player of the year last year and is still only 21.
Eamon has been top goalscorer for the past 6 seasons and is enjoying his new role behind our two strikers this season.

O'Mahony is a good player and just as good as John Sull from Castleview so he could easily have got a call,Cronin tho in my opinon would not be Oscar Traynor material neither is Hallissey. What about Alan Greaney he's a proven goalscorer in the Premier division ! is it because he dropped a few divisions to play with friends and as a fella would say out of sight out of mind  ????? Jason Forde is well capable of making that squad also, a few years back i know he played with the MSL Oscar Traynor team. Joe Ryan is a lad not many on here will know, he played with Ballyphehane and still only 23 he,s playing with our Juniors. A goalscoring right back not many of them arund !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Personally, I am disapointed for my brother. He didnt make the 11 last year, or even the 14 on all but one games, but he should have called all last years squad back for first training.
Always good to listen to opinion, but, the great thing about our sport is that two guys can watch the same game and have polar opposite opinions. He should have looked himself.

I have always been a fan of Saturday afternoon re Sunday morning, but it is killing my brother at present. Arriving 20 minutes before kick off and gone back to work straight after. You can see the tiredness in his play.

Where is Anthony Buckley from Wilton? Is he retired? May not fit the age the age profile, but ran the show in the AUL games I saw him in last year.

The old problem exists of not enough time for the manager. Last year was the first year our club felt an attachment to the team because we had representation from two guys. To the clubs further down the league ladder, they feel no attachment to the side. If the manager was appointed in July when training started, he could have training games for each division from August. He may find a gem and may not, but, at least guys and clubs see their name on the paper associated with the AUL side, and feel some attachment. I know this year was hard for the AUL for many reasons, but, maybe the planning is needed now for next years appointment or a two, three year plan for the current set-up.

I understand the opposition has to be taken into account, but, personally, I never fancy three at the back. Too much space out the wings for them. Your width restricted with wingers ploughing up and down the wing. Where do you go when you are 1 down with 15 to go - 2 at the back? Liverpools 4-2-3-1 maybe?
Who am I to question the system that Rockmount have used for years?

suprised to see 7 on panel from kinsale seeing their start to the season has not been the greatest at all being knocked out of munster early and not start to league they would of wished. pity only 1 leeside player on team, certainly a few more worth a go there. ricky getts, coleman cody centre mid is a serious player, playin with midleton for last few years and also paul condon is a fantastic centre half. we all know the managment team has had not time on their side for this game so the next squad could have a lot of names that we are on about here on it.

Personally I think the panel should be picked from the premier and premier a divisions, I know that you will always have a number of players who may be worth a chance outside of that, but to be fair to the management how will they find the time to see them all. And I think anyone playing in the premier divisions are playing against better opposition each week which should keep them sharper than somebody down a few divisions.

this .a.u l panel is a complete joke,7 from kinsale, saw them in mossylinane final last year and were only average .ballyvolanesentre back didnt give varian a ball.i see that sunday games are off even if you have one player on panel.a.u l.playing friday night.mark my words that team will not win anything ,when it comes to the crunch.even the best goalkeeper in the league isnt. picked.wiltons italian is head and shoulders above the two picked.
