I think if insults get flung around and things get personal then this is the time to stop naming names. These people are in a public position and have put themselves there so unless things do get personal I think there should be no problem in naming names.

I think i was a little naieve before when calling for elected officers. There is much more to it than that as was pointed out. These are voluntary positions and we must be grateful to these people for organising our leagues. Without them we'd be lost.

On the EGM matter. Unless the current situation is solved within the next week there will be no other choice but to call one. There has to be transparency on this matter. We need to know what brought about this standoff and who is at fault so as we can make sure it never happens again. As i said earlier, those at fault, whoever they may be on either side need to be held accountable. That's my bit said!

A wonderful touch from our neighbours in innishvilla for naming the pitch:ball:.

Thats good to hear Bluey, Derek is a class player and no doubt will have a great influence on the young players coming through.
My sources wouldn't have been far out when I posted about his possible move to avondale but obviously now he has decided to stay in the island it's a great bonus for ye .

Good point about us not mentioning names. We do need to be careful.

Does anyone know how to call an EGM?

Where are Paul O Mahony & Derek Delea gone?

Any news on AUL manager?
Paul is with Everton Seniors.

I'm just wondering why its ok for youths matches to go ahead next week with FAI - non branch referees but we arent allowed to play friendlies - think it needs to be pointed out that we probably ARE allowed play friendlies but just referee the games ourselves

As i thought - i also think AUL clubs would probably be allowed but people are afraid after what was written on corkaul.com about SANCTIONS

Also as I've my rant hat on - what about last years Golden Boot?
At the end of the season Derek McCarthy had won the Golden Boot with his goals in the Premier Division (only 17 games available to him due to the teams dropping out).
Then the Premier A went to a 3 way playoff - and a Knockavilla player got a few more goals in these extra games (18 league + 2 playoff) to top Derek's tally. The AUL in their wisdom have awarded the Golden Boot to the Knockavilla player (sorry, I dont know his name).
Derek McCarthy bust his ass for the Cork AUL team last year and this is how he's treated.
(If I was in Derek's position I know what I'd tell them when the Cork AUL team come calling this year!!!)
Once again the award for fairness goes to the Cork AUL.
Should we even bother ringing in the scorers this year?

My mistake re the golden boot - I think it was one of the playoff teams players, Kanturk maybe? who will be awarded the golden boot.
In all fairness this is crazy. Playoff goals shouldn't count.
Anyway 20 Premier goals are much harder to get than 20 Premier A goals. No account is taken of this.
In my opinion there should be a golden boot for each league - but that might cost too much for the AUL
The AUL is trying to spread out the glory at the expense of doing the right thing.

Sorry Olli but I honestly dont know if Im to take ya seriously sometimes.

My club provides an all weather training surface, fully lit for training twice a week or more if they want for the A an B squads,or the pitch if they choose to train there.Brand new dressing rooms with showers to be used when ever they need them. The best of match gear and training equipment.

How many clubs do you know of that provide so much an ask for so little,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the price of 2 pints dependin on where ya drink.

According to the echo there seems to be no end in the strike and the games at the weekend are in jeporady. The proposal was not accepted so the strike continues.

Very disappointed with what was written on the AUL website to be honest - at least the MSL have clarified that they can play friendlies if the use club officials - whereas the AUL website just says no friendlies

Hello lads,

Haven't been on this for a while, good to see healthy debate regarding ref situation.
Heard today that, after last nights meeting, the end may be in site. A proposal put to the refs has been accepted but must be looked at by the FAI before it can be agreed
and an end put to the current situation..... fingers crossed.
We (Grangevale) are looking forward to to the challenge of AUL 1, but, to be honest,
it is going to be extremely tough... 26 league games with some very strong sides.
Pre-season has been ok for us, we have held onto all of last years squad and have added 2 new signings but with hols, injuries and the GAA still going it's difficult to guage
how prepared we really are... Hope there are no casualties of the strike, i.e. City Challenge/County/Corinthians Cups, that would be a shame as these are cups that teams from all divisions look forward to and can have a good go at...
Best of luck to ye all

Hey Lads,
Just back from a week in the sun.Well was actually back on Saturday night just in time for our first league game of the season or so i thought.
Couldnt believe when i heard what was going on.Hopefully things will be sorted soon because with the evenings starting to close in there will be a huge back log of games come next May.
If games go ahead next weekend will it be the original games that were supposed to be played last week?

Far from me to cast aspertions on your charcter Olli, but it dose begger the question, how do you exactly expect clubs to survive on a weekly basis with out so called script.

Sponsorship,,,,,,that my friend is an added bonus that all clubs get a little pick up from, the mainstay of each club is script along with a weekly ticket draw, views would be appriciated,,,,,,,,,,,,

I think fund raising is always a difficult one for most clubs, I would also be interested to know what clubs do to raise money besides the weekly script from players, might help my own club.

Littleman I believe my question was a fair one so get down off the high horse! I was unaware that ye had an astroturf facility in Grattan therefore i was working off the idea that ye were training twice a week somewhere else normally costing 5 euro per session plus 10 euro for script which would be 20 euro a week which with a lot of people currently unemployed would be a lot!!

Therefore that was the reason for the question - can you take me seriously now?

A lot of small clubs take part in the College Corinthians superdraw.
I don't know the exact details but it works something like this:
CCAFC organise the draw - cars, holidays etc.
Any club can take part and sell tickets (usually €20 - €30) and keep half of what they collect.
The beauty of this type of situation for a small club is that there is very little organistaion involved - collect tickets, sell tickets, bank half of money collected. A lot of small clubs have raised money in this manner in the past.
I don't know if there is any similar type of draw to this one in the cork area.

We take part in that draw every year and we have benefited hugely from it.Every player and member do very well in trying to sell these and we get to keep €15 from every ticket.
Just in response to the issue of money for training/games. We train every Tuesday and Thursday on our astroturf and each player pays €2 for each night.Every player pays €5 for home games and dont pay for away games.
So each week will cost no more than €9 for each player. We get to train/play on top class astroturf.Have three top class pitches and have superb shower facilities and have all our gear washed and cleaned for us.
No complains from anyone here.

Ours is Tuesday/Thursday in Blarney €3.

€3 for home games, nothing for away games.

Each player is also asked to take 5 x €1.50 lotto tickets, which we encourage to spread around the family rather than pay all the money yourself.

" Being honest both Grattan managers are very happy with the squad we have assembled.A lot of clubs seem to be struggling to get a decent bunch together. We have bascially had a look at areas we needed to improve in, and brought players in to add competition for those places."

Olli, look at the team line up again,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,slowly.

Graham Keane had nothing to lose by having a go at Cahir Park.He did all his coaching badges while he was at Preston so its not as if he dosent have the right credentials. Its a tough league to be in all the same and I hope he turns it around. If not an he decides to just go back playing then I'll be the first to give him a ring.

Yeah just saw that there now - automatically thought he wasnt there when he wasnt playing upfront

So Keegan aside and lets say Keith Kelleher has gone to the MSL too it looks like from an attacking point of view the AUL panel is seriously weakened - anyone new look like would be able to fill the boots of those players
