Big games for ye too so Ola. Would like to see ye get two good results there.
Leeds Pk, very rare i know for us to agree on something :) but yes it was crazy having an away game in Macroom during the week when it would suit to have it at the weekend rather than playing Pearse. But thats the AUL for ya bud, just have to get on with it now which is a shame because ye were still in there with a shout. Very frustrating.

I thought you'd be more interested in our result against Macroom - rather than greenwood?? (okY just did the sums - if Greenwood win all their remaining 5 games they'd be in with a shout!!)

Macroom A 4 Leeds 3

Just took the match report straight off our website, my report probably wouldnt be as detailed!!
Great result for us! What does LeedsPk make of the report!

In a fantastic entertaining match, Macroom A remain in firm control of their pursuit of the Premier A title after an excellent victory over a quality Leeds side at Murray's pitch Macroom.

It should have been more comfortable for Macroom, who flew out of the blocks. They took the lead in the sixth minute when one of Leeds own men scored an own goal, trying to clear the danger that Martin Corcoran and Keith Holden were creating. Macroom doubled their lead in the 24th minute, when an excellent Darragh Deasy cross was finished by Holden from close range. Macroom were dominating now.Macroom got their third soon after, when another Deasy cross from a corner was powered home by Corcoran, to give Macroom a three goal lead.

It was always going to happen that Leeds would come out firing after the restart, but Macroom would be disappointed how they let Leeds back into the game. Leeds frontman Gary Nolan was a serious threat, and he weaved his way through a body of defenders to get into a shooting position on 49. He then cracked home an excellent 20 yarder to give Leeds hope. They were now in the acendancy in terms of posession, and they reduced the deficit to the minimum after 64 minutes, again it was Nolan who was on hand to finish from close range. Macroom upped their game again after this, and went 4-2 up on 73. It was a fantastic counter attacking move, when O'Riordan took the ball out of defence, and played a superb cutting pass to Holden who's first touch brought it perfectly down, beat the last defender before coolly finishing. Holden was in again on 78, after a superb pass from Anthony O Donoughue, but his lobbed effort was just over. Leeds got their third on 80, when midfielder Shane Hurley did well to slot home following a goalmouth scramble. Macroom's defence held firm for a nail biting last ten minutes to record an important victory.

Well Owl maybe we can get along after all, haha!!! big 4 days for yerselves coming up. 2 wins and ye are well on yer way to promotion.

I have to say Mr V that the report is spot on. I had a look a the website as well and have to say its impressive. I thought yer no 10 caused us feirce problems, he is a fine player. Saying that i thought once we got goin we caused alot of problems ourselves with Gary gettin a great 1st goal for us. As for 'flew out of the blocks' well thats a different argument altogether as iv moaned about that already, ha. Did ye have a midweek trip to the city yet??? I say ye would find it hard to fly out of the blocks if ye did. But all in the past, best of luck now with the rest of it!!!

Clashduv Road Saturday, anybody got directions on how to get out of that hole in the centre of the pitch?? :-)

My left hamstring is still there so if you do find a way out would you mind passing it on if you see it...

In this weather when pitches firm up it must be up there with one of the worst pitches - nothing against Pearse as they normally are a good football side but I really detest that pitch...

AOH semi-final first leg now at the weekend and the weekend after so no midweek fixture then either!! Anyone know what the story with goals is? Do away goals count or not??
Any info on Knockavilla?? I Know we played them last year and had some great contests but have they any new players etc!!

!!

Huge game this weekend Mr. V,
As far as I'm aware the away goals rule will come into play, Probably the same rules as the County Cup.
On Knockavilla , we played them twice this season and we beat them 4 nil at home and they beat us 3 nil in their place more recently on Paddy's Day. They are after changing things around there big time ( possibly even new management) since Mid season. But they are well beatable. I think Keith up front will give their defence a horrid time. As you know he chases everything and can score from litterally anywhere. They are dangerous with free kicks so be disciplined around that 18 yard box.
On the home and away fixture, its hard to know how to approach the games, But I'm sure Master Murray will have a game plan.
At the moment ye seem to be getting everything right, ( a bit like when we did the double ) so best of luck Sunday.
Should be a class game, So might see you there Mr. V ;)

Result from A.U.L. 2A.

Killowen 0 Millstreet 2.

It was 0-0 at half time although both sides had decent chances to open the scoring in the 1st half. Millstreet hit the woodwork and had a few goalbound shots charged down. We were happy enough going in at the break on level terms as we were missing our regular keeper and 2 midfielders. Millstreet really went for it in the 2nd half and scored their opener within 20 minutes, and had us on the backfoot for long periods. But we kept battling, our centre half hit the crossbar with a great volley and we put in a few dangerous crosses and corners, but couldn't register a goal. Millstreet wrapped it up with a second goal with around 15 to go.
This division will go right down to the wire as Springfield, Waterloo and Millstreet are matching each others results.

Good result Scaffa, did this game kick off on time? We were warming up for our game v Millstreet when a referee arrived and handed the match card to our manager and requested his match fee. We were a bit suprised as it wasn't the referee listed on the fixture list but we just presumed it was a change of official. However, when we looked at the card the fixture listed was Boh's v Rylane at The Fairfield. Right on cue the correct official arrived and then the penny dropped with the 1st referee. He must have presumed Boh's were still playing out in Killowen.

No he was nt on time we figured he got lost so rang the Aul who passed on his number and we had to direct him.....kicked off just after 7 but he done only ok looked very young and was nt firm enough with his decisions seemed a bit intimated by players but overall would gave him 6/10 for his performance........

A game we could have won but the first 15 mins told its own story. 2 Down in under 15 minutes and deservedly so !! Greenwood flrw out of the blocks and hit before we even decided to wake up. To be fair we fought back and got one before half time through Colm Forde which i think turn the game in our favour. Second half we played all the ball but just couldnt break them down, only for us to score in the last 5 minutes to equalise. For me it was 2 points dropped because once again we had the chances. There was issues with the ref but thats another days story. Sticky side Greenwood but i felt they resorted to long ball constantly. But thats just my opinion.

well just reading the corkaul blog and AUL 2A title race is very tight at the min.... all 3 teams still in it. out of the 3 you would have to say that the all round best team would be springfield A, they are decent footballing side and compliment this well with solid over all fitness..

millstreet have come on well this year in comparison to other years, when they were not as strong a side as im sure they would admit. Seen them play a few times this year and they are a strong physical outfit and very fit i thought. not the most footballing of sides but they have a few handy individuals on the team

Waterloo are the final team, good strong and fit side too. not the greatest of sides in terms of footballing abilities as the long ball seems to be their forte thorughout any of their games i have seen. the long ball game is aided well tho for them as they have some quick and atheltic players in midfield and upfront..

will be an interesting race, i tip springfield solely on what i have seen on all 3 teams. waterloo/millstreet to battle for second place...
aside from that the rest of the league is settled i suppose, cresent draws cost them a higher placed position mind you i do not think they are of same calibre as the top 3 teams in the league. hillington are surely down along with glanworth i think?

What about the ref (in the 95th minute) awarding greenwood what he thought was a free in, only to change his mind and give a free out when he saw the incident happened inside the box.

the owl

Rock, i honestly thought he was giving a free in and have no idea why we were givin the free unless he thought both players were pulling at each other. It also begs the question why we were not awarded a penalty in the second half when a Greenwood player practically caught the ball ??
So i suppose there were claims on both sides, but none given.

I'm involved with Greenwood and could not believe how the ref changed his decision. From his position near midfield , the ref blew his whistle and pointed in the direction of the Ballyvolane goal. We were screaming penalty and shouted to our player to stay down where he was as the ref was now walking towards him. Once the ref came up to our player, whose was at least 4/5 feet inside the penalty area close to the end line, the ref then indicated a free out!!

He definitely indicted a free to us initially. If it was a free out he had awarded in the first place, why did he walk from midfield back almost to the end line when a free out would have been kicked long past himself in midfield. Strange decision and one of many for both sides that for me spoiled what was a good, clean game.

"I felt they resorted to long ball constantly. But thats just my opinion."

Appreciate this is just your opinion but with the pitch being very short , kicks outs and free kicks were able to land well into the opposing half. Why not kick it long ?. You didn't mention that we had 10 players for the last 20/25 mins which again meant we hit long balls to try and catch you on the break. This almost worked as we had 2 one on ones that we failed to score from. We started well and you guys came back strongly. A draw was probably a fair result, in my opinion.

Was a good game down in Coachford. They gave us a good game and pushed us all the way. Went in at half time at 0-0 again- alot to do with having to travel to Coachford from Cobh on a Thursday evening. Brennan scored from a free kick and Hawesy added a penalty. Had various other chances but failed to convert coupled with a few excellent saves from their keeper. A good game and credit to Coachford- don't think they will have any trouble staying up.

Congrats Conas- That is an excellent assessment of the league in fairness- but i would say that considering you have tipped us to win it :). Since the Milstreet game when they beat us we have turned or season around and shown great character after going out of all the cups in the space of a few weeks. We needed alot of picking up and the 4-3 result down in Waterloo was a massive result. With all respect to Milstreet- because when they beat us we had alot out- Waterloo are the best team we have come up against in this league and they are going to push us all the way. It is going to be a tough run in but we have 6 home games and it is in our hands with both contenders to play at home. So we can have no excuses at the end.

Good luck to all involved- may the best team win

Yes, that seems to be how hings are shaping up alright..... mind you, you would be surprised some other teams in that league are handy enough on their day (Castle Celtic/Killowen/Cresent spring to mind) but i suppose the main thing in this league is to achieve consistency in results and performances and that can be harder task than people think....

All the best to teams involved as you say though.

Coming towards the end of season our point against Ballyvolane on Thurs night meant Greenmount are relegated ?. We have 4 games left and even though we are third from bottom, it's been such a strange league that 4 wins (improbable) could see us promoted if results went our way !!!. Again, not very likely to happen, but it has been a hugely competitive league with all teams capable of beating each other and we have enjoyed our first season at Premier A level.

Looking forward to our remaining games against yourselves, Ballyvolane, Macroom and Pearse. (all at home - Pearse is away but we share the same pitch)

Besides that i suppose it was hard to play good football on such hard ground. I completely forgot ye had a man sent off when i wrote the post, apologies but i dont think the pitch is that short. What did you make of the handball ??
A few games left for us now, all huge. As you said yourself just becuse ye are third from bottom doesnt mean a thing in this league. 1 or 2 wins can jump a team a few places.

Truthfully , was on opposite side of a crowded penalty and couldn't see it , but the reaction of you guys as you all shouted together suggests you had a genuine call for a penalty. Don't like to knock refs as we can all make mistakes but a lot of his decisions baffled both teams. Anyway , back to the league and for us , we are happy that we will be playing premier A next year and will give the last 4 games a right lash!!!
Won't say good luck at the weekend as it might upset Kanturk but may the best team win.

Pearse Celtic 2 Leeds 5. Gary Nolan 2, Dean Buckley, Shane Hurley and Niall Murphy.

Didnt find that hamstring Inish, we had a good look and all :)

Saw the b'volane/greenwood game. Both were peno's. Draw was a fair result i thought.

Ballyvolane 3 Kanturk 1
We were shocking today, didnt deserve anyting out of the game!!
1st half we werent too bad, there keeper made 2 or 3 good saves!came out in 2nd half and it all went downhill from there!!
Finished game with 9 men, didnt make difference, the game was over at that stage, very dissapointing how the season finished!!
owl ye need 4 points from 2 games for playoff with us is it?two wins and yer promoted!!
Still a point ahead of macroom so they need two points from four games, not ruling out greenwood, but its look very tough for ye,but you never no with the way this league is goin!!!
Thats us finished now,is there diffinaly mossie this season??

Greenwood 3-1 Blackstone

We were awful - an embarassing performance - Greenwood deserved the 3 point
