Just finished nites an Iv had some time to reflect on everthing.I intentionally didnt look in to see whats been said cause I was genuinely was dissapointed at both the result an team selection.I apoligise for the rant because a manager picks a side I presume to win a game an if it dont then I hope the managers reasons for pickin what ever side he picked,he stands by.On occasion we all we can an have all had a rant when we shouldnt of,an Im no angel. My passion for both the game an our league, with all its faults gets the better of me,once in a while all be it.

Oh how the tables have turned, wasn't so long ago fellas were saying that kinsale deserved to have that many players on the aul panel and how they have been 1 of the best teams in the league over the last few years, now the back stabbing begins saying that they are an under acheiving team, their coach is hot headed etc,to me it looks like because of player selection and lads not being picked from a certain club when maybe they should have been heads should roll!!!
Im just wondering if the same lads had started regardless of the result would all this agro still be there!!!?.

Bog can you remember who played left back for Kinsale in the Mossie Linnane final, he was a blonde fella? Don't know his name, was he in the cork aul team selected?
Sounds like Micky Bradfield. He was on last nights panel and probably started aswell.

wow, havent logged on in a few days and have seen the banter is getting nice and heated.

I wont comment on the team selection from last night, as we all know he didnt have much time to select his team from in saying that if i didnt have much time either i would have just selected more or less the same panel from last year and replaced the guys who have left.

I think what will be really interesting is what he does for his next squad. Does he stay loyal to his current group or does he look to start all over. His next squad and team for me will give me a real indication of what type of manager he is

I think he needs to look at some of the MSL players that have joined the AUL league this year whom a lot of fellas may not be familiar yet. As Bluey mentioned there are 5 or 6 players down in Leeside which have come from Mayfield, Midleton and Youghal, Grattan have some returning from Mary's and i'm sure some other clubs have gotten a few.

I will agree with Bluey that Barry(pookie) Goggin should be an absolute certainty for left back on the team.
The following players should also at least make the squad
Grattan - Keith Shaw
Wilton - Anthony Daly i think his name is (centre field)
Leeside - Barry Goggin, Ricky Gettings, Paul Condon
Glenthorn - Paul O Brien if he's back fit
Coachford - Dan Lucey

no wasn't refering to you, just amazes me how opions change so fast in regards to the team, lads that weren't picked for the starting 11 that maybe should be etc,i don't think the squad is going to change that much really over 1 game,i don't think by bringing in x amount of players is going to change performances really, the squad an management need time to gel so i wouldn't be writhing them off yet!!,only time will tell!!!

Right I'm going to say one more thing and then I'm done talking about the Oscar Traynor Cup- It was hard enough to win the bloody thing with a manager who was there a few years and even if he had stayed on it would have been even harder to retain - no matter what we care to think the MSL seniors are the best teams in Cork and we are always going to lose players to them so we all should try and get behind the current squad and hopefully they can turn it around

exactly finally someone talking a bit of sence,as they say winning any competition is hard enough, retaining it is even harder so instead of everyone picking bad points about the squad, management etc why not look for ways to try an improve the set up of how the team should be picked, trials etc for the future, there's always going to be people let down but thats life, its only a game at the end of the day!!

as far as i rcall if the kerry league beat limerick then its bye bye .a u .l.what were they thinking off, splitting up the grattan centre halves and putting the castleview player in there, last years skipper as well.i have no sympathy for them. we have lost enough wkends already the longer this team stays in oscar traynor we will loose more.

I dont see why the AUL cant take a more pro active role in this .
Granted the appointment was late but surely SURELY SURELY some trial games could be set up whereby if a club has a player they think might be good enough for the AUL panel they can send them forward and see what happens .

So at least when the manager is appointed he could be told - X,Y,Z from Kinsale A,B,C from Grattan and you might want to look at D from Ballyvolane . T from Kanturk and F from Springfield . Not saying tell him who to pick but help him out

Well said Olachico! Thats exactly how it should be done.

Mayfield 2 - 2 Park Utd B
Travelled to Mayfield on Saturday. They had their social on Friday night so we were asked to play the match in teir grounds.
Great display considering the same team beat us 5-0 last week in the cup.
Management made 7 changes for this game.Found ourselves 2 down with barely 20 mins on the clock.Got one back before half time but we should have gone in 4-2 up.
Got the equaliser midway through the second half but although we pushed hard for the winner,we couldnt get it.Gained a point against a good side but to be honest we felt we dropped 2.

intresting to see if any of oscar traynor managment team will be out scouting next weekend. anyone know if they training away every week or if anyone extra called up to the trainings.
heard something over weekend about friday night, team was having tea and sandwiches on hour before kick off and only ended up with 15 min warm up. not greatest preparation for such a big game is it? on any sat or sun teams could be out on pitches doing warm ups 40 - 50 min before kick off

Yeah Radiostar i played both the games so i can give you plenty of tips.
They have 2 very good strikers. One very big lad who is very good both in the air and with the ball at his feet. There is a small lad up there with him with bags of skill and serious pace.
They like to play a lot of one twos and all there play comes from their two centre midfielders.
Two centre halfs are handy but if ye have some one with pace up front ye will have the beatings of them.
Their keeper is dodgy so have plenty of shots on him.

May have been overlooked in recent years because of a hot temper . But saying that he went all last season without a red ;). So we're working on that side of his game.

Thanks for that P&M... The villa have made what would look like a poor start to the season but it is not all doom and gloom... Lost first game to a very (very) strong looking Glenvale outfit, then lost to Hibs, who have definitely strengthened but we were not far away in that game. Out of the two cups, both 1:0 defeats to old foes, Killumney (who are on a bit of a roll) and Greenmount (Prem A)... So on the face of it 5 competitive games played 1 win and 4 losses - suggests a long tough season, but things aren't quite that bleak...

On a seperate note though only one promoted and relegated is terrible, lets be honest one more defeat and promotion is probably beyond us as I don't see Glenvale dropping many points, if Lakewood don't improve they are a shoe in for the relegation spot... Season could be dead in the water for half the division by Christmas...

Innish, hope ye turn it round.

I agree Glenvale were too strong for us at the weekend but we are already looking forward to the return game.

We were 3-0 down at half time, gobsmacked in the first half, pulled back one after the break and then missed a one on one opportunity, im convinced if we slotted that home we could have got something from the game as they were on the backfoot.

Nevertheless the game finished 5-2 and we have our homework to do.!

No 8, Victor Mylood was impressive for Glenvale and i would add him to the watchlist.

An unlikely Lakewood win versus Glenvale would throw the league up in the air at the weekend nevertheless!! Here's hoping for a miracle!!

I wasn't at the Glenvale v Innishvilla game, but by all accounts they are a strong side, always were a big physically imposing side, with no lack of skill. I actually saw a bit of a game they played last year against Pearce in the cup... Lost 4:5 if memory serves me coming back from a goal down 4 times I think before conceding a peno in the 89 minute...

Go to Innishannon village pass through for Bandon after crossing the bridge take sharp left, 1/2 mile down road take right up hill, follow this road straight thru a stagger x-roads (take the uphill road) keep right at V in road it is about 1/2 mile up that hill on left... Sounds worse than it is and it is worth it for the quality of the pitches... Also it is well signposted from the turn-off at the bridge.

If you go to the website, there is a google map.
http://www.innishvilla.com/id2.html

Should be a good game, might be missing one or two with the local GAA in the county final, but team/squad is not heavy with GAA players. I think for Innishvilla it'll be a good guage of where they are as a team, having played and lost to the two unbeaten teams and played and beaten the only side to lose all their games it is hard to know...
