Dundalk would still have the fourth biggest budget in the league but would have caught up a bit with Rovers, Sligo and possibly Pats. I'd say the "Galacticos" tag came from local media rather than Kenny himself.

Higgins, Horgan and McMillan would be signings for upper end of premier league and wont have come cheap so I don't think there are any doubts Dundalk's wage budget has increased. Apparently though, we are still under the wage budget and there will be one more signing.

Also bear in mind we have offloaded the following from 2013:

Vinny Faherty (high end wages, although you wouldnt think it on performances)
John Dillon (mid to high wages, Southport)
Tiarnan Mulvenna (mid wages - Glenavon)
John Sullivan (low to mid wages, Shels)
Stephen Mc'Donnell (as above)
Aarran Shanahan (lower wages - NI)

In saying that, there is no doubt with what has come in, is costing more, but its much better quality.

What lunatic put Vinny Faherty on high-end wages?

Based on a half season of under performance with Pats after 18 months in Australia? ha ha

Ah, so it was Kenny?

Was shocked we signed him as I've never rated him with any of his previous clubs. Seemed like a bit of a panic signing for me at the time.

Add in Francis McCaffrey and Jordan Keegan who probably would be lower to mid end wages.
Plus local lads Simon Kelly (who is currently training with us) and Nathan Murphy who would be on low wages. Conor Winn too. Keith Ward will probably sign back hopefully.

We did off-load a fair amount but can't argue with any of the players that Kenny did let go. Some did a decent job, mainly John Sullivan and Mulvenna, but ultimately have been replaced by better players.

We were struggling to sign an established centre forward. No one really expected Hoban to become one of the best strikers in the LOI so quickly.

Players are very keen to join Dundalk now, 12 months ago, it was a different story.

I agree Faherty was a bit of a panic signing. I don't know if was one our best paid players though.

I would probably 're-classify' Faherty on mid to high wages, but I do recall hearing he had options elsewhere, and he would have joined expecting to be a first choice forward. I can't even remember how many games he started in the league, def less than 5. Not a good move.

Any rumblings over money in Cork?

Ok, I'll ask it another way - anyone hear Elding wants out?

Well I know Elding was supposed to be expensive re wages but with a contract signed and agreed I can't see why he'd want out now.

LTFC's Josh O'Hanlon is signing for a Championship club in England in the next few days. Burnley, Bournemouth and Reading all in for him apparently, two bids accepted it seems. Good luck to the lad.

Danny Furlong has left Cork City and I'm very happy about it. I wish him the best wherever he goes, but he really didn't show the ability to play at the Premier Division level.
He re-signed for Wexford Youths, but I didn't put him in the outgoing transfers in Cork's sub-forum, because he wasn't notable in the team this season, as well as Alan Browne.

Slightly OT, but don't think it's worthy of a new thread.

Stewart Greacen talks about his time in Ireland in a brief article:
http://www.falkirkherald.co.uk/sport/local-sport/football/move-to-city-paid-off-1-3262318.

Interesting to note his opinions on the technicality of Irish football.

Hang on, how can a player (Elding) not be happy at a club before he has even played a single game for them?

Why would he have to play a game to be unhappy? If he didn't like the manager the area or the other players then it would have nothing to do with games.

For the same reason that he signed for Limerick last season and got the contract torn up. Do you mind if we stay on this for another few days?

He didn't sign for us and get it torn up. He was due to sign for us and last minute signed for Sligo.

How do you know he wont be signing for bohs? Honest question.
Supposedly hes asking us for a decent bit of money. More than we can afford. But if he doesnt have many other options, he may reduce that demand. Hopefully anyways as we badly badly need a striker.

How would he know how he felt about all those things before signing. I don't care about the Elding rumour i was simply saying playing games is very little of the time players spend at clubs and probably the least likely part of being at a club that would make them unsettled or unhappy at the club. Not a big deal really.

Well, he's starting a friendly today so he can't be that upset.

Personally, I think if he's not happy, best of luck to him, he's better to move on now.

In the Star that Roddy has offered a contract to Leon McSweeney, and they're looking at Tim Clancy and Mark Stewart as well. Iarlaith Davoren will play for them in a friendly midweek against Limavady, they'll be fielding a team of trialists in fact

I'm sure Foran will be used for cover only, can't see him starting many, well unless they have injuries. I certainly wouldn't start him for a team starting as favourites though.

He's not a bad player, good in the air, but can get a bit caught out when he tries to play it out, is this his 4th club in 4 seasons? Pats (2014), Rovers (2013), DLK (2012), Sligo (2011), not sure how many games he played with Sligo 2011 though.

Every club needs squad players and thats not a dig at Foran as he is a decent player. If Pats were to go out and sign 4 top class centre backs that all should be starting every week then they wouldn't be happy for too long. Foran will do a fine job for Pats I would think.

A lot of the same sort of stuff was said about Foran when signed for Shamrocks.

He started a lot of games ahead of Oman. Dunno who that says most about - Foran or Oman.

IMO a Good signing for Pats

Shrewd move by Buckley here, he was short for central defenders. Oman may not start as main centre half with young Séan Hoare likely to be blooded alongside Kenny Browne

It actually says most about Croly to be honest. Limited and all as Oman can be, he is less of a liability than Foran.

Not a Pat's type of player. An odd choice by Buckley.
