Gavin Brennan has re-signed for Drogheda. The club's best player probably, so that's a good one.

Massive signing for us and a real game-changer for our expectations for next season. Onwards and upwards.

So that's ten signed so far and Robbie said he wanted 18 in his squad so 8 to go.

If we can add 2 more key men to that midfield, it'll be one of the best in the league next season.

Don't even think he was the best Brennan at Drogheda last year from what I seen but Drogs fans would certainly know more

Not even the best Brennan, but a good signing all the same.

What's the general consensus on Cork's signings so far?I think people are pretty happy with the way John Caulfield is doing things. If we hold on to the majority of last seasons squad & with the new signings we should be reasonably strong for next season.

He's miles ahead of Ryan at the moment. That's not a dig at Ryan, people seem to think he has more potential than any of his brothers but he just hasn't reached it yet.

Not like a team from Louth can go from near the bottom one season to finish in the top 3 the following season..

We also finished 2nd the year before. There's little consistency in the LOI these days. Apart from losing Prendergast, every signing in and out has been for the better. As I said, a few key additions and I'm confident of another successful season next year.

Yep, stranger things have happened.

Should be a good league overall next season, there will be a lot of clubs evenly matched from mid table to top 4 again.

Definitely happy and optimistic but we're very light in defense.

No more transfers coming in now, just re-signings so we'll have to see.

I wouldn't be too worried about it, I'd say we'll have a similar number of defenders to last season. We'll have at least another 7 players signing for the first team squad.

Horgan is putting together a nice squad, though it's still a little light up front. You're very dependent on O'Brien.

Robbie withdrew his offer to Sava so he could sign Ryan so hopefully he's decent backup. I hope Gabby gets sorted out though, I can see him dropping down to the First to guarantee first team football.

Great signing for you. Very good little player. Absolutely sick to have lost him being honest. Strange move for him being honest.

Don't see Ryan going there to be backup. He's a far better keeper than Schlingermann imo.

I thought Daryl Horgan was supposed to have really impressed on trial over in the uk. Would be surprised if he didn't sign for a team over there. There was rumour we were trying to bring him in but that seems to be gone.

I see on Twitter Danny North has tweeted about Elbert getting an offer from Kilmarnock.

He's a free agent under the age of 23 who has been offered a contract equal or better to the one he was previously on.

Its almost unbelievable that we are into the last month of the year and Derry have not given Dundalk a cent (or penny!) for the services of Mark Griffin. Almost as if the response was 'Well he didnt really work out, so we're not going to pay the fee due'

Longfordian

They'll have to pay it or have reached an agreement to pay it to get a licence next year won't they? That's usually the spur to make these type of payments for many clubs.

Can't get a license with payables due to other clubs unless they reach agreement between them regarding payment

[QUOTE=cestlavie;1721106]If Roddy Collins becomes the next Derry City manager he is looking for Enda Curran to join him from Athlone. Roddy has said to prospective players that he is going to Derry.

What I should have said at the time was Roddy got in touch with Curran & said he was going to Derry & your coming with me. This was way in advance of the so called interview. Looks like it has all played out.

According to Pizza, Roddy was sounding him out about joining him at "another LOI club" next season, the night we lost up there. But really, he wanted to stay with Athlone.

Perhaps in the mess that was our club last year that the proper procedure wasn't followed in relation to offering Griffin a new contract within the correct time frame and this is why no fee has been paid or will be paid.

No I dont think this is correct, I was told proper procedure was followed and he was indeed offered a contract.

This won't be huge money that Derry need to pay, but it will be in the region of 8-10k I think.

Don't think it'd be close to that much based on other recent agreements. No doubt neither club will mention the figure publicly thogh with Dundalk leaking that it's a good amount and Derry leaking it's half that.

I'm pretty satisfied with our off-season business so far. Slight disappointment - but not much - about Lynch and Elding going, and slight reservations - but not a lot - about North; otherwise we've kept most of the players I'd like us to have kept and I'm happy enough seeing Ventre and Davoren go. We're still missing a playmaker - it remains to be seen whether we can get Djilali back, but if not we need Baraclough to find a high-quality replacement. We also need another good striker.

Djilali will definitely be back for Sligo. No question at all.

The only area they look weaker is at the back. Davoran is a better left full than Ledwith. Apart from that they're in good shape (as are the other 2 teams from last year's top 3).

Havent seen enough of Ledwith to comment on that. The trouble with Davoren is that he just seems to pick up injuries ... played 18 times this year and only 14 times in 2012. When he is playing he cant train every day either from what I hear. Bara seems to be going for younger players with points to prove in certain positions. Also we have Gaynor for left back, he's an Ok defender at this level but his positioning can be suspect.

Edit: he could have been ran after that sh_it with John Terry the night we won the league, a lot of people were p!ssed off over that.

I hope he gets the game time. I thought he would have been better staying at Drogheda. He has ambitions to play in England and sitting on a bench will not help.
