I have no idea what kind of a person Derek O'Brien is but he was absolutely crap when he was with Limerick. I was delighted we got to sign him as he tended to play well against us for Cork but we got nothing from the guy in terms of end product. He was constantly picking up knocks and long before the end of his spell with us we used to amuse ourselves by guessing how many overhit crosses he'd manage before the end of the game when he was sprung from the bench late on.

Pat Devlin could be gone from Bray...according to tweet by Gary Dempsey whom also states he won't be staying, although looking at Gary last season his best days are over him. Not looking good for the seasiders, Waters, Mulroy, Darren Quigley, Jason Byrne, Danny O Connor (coaching role) will not be playing for Bray .

Where are Quigley and Byrne going?
We will be doing well to field a team at that rate!

Byrne is supposedly back to Bohs. Haven't heard anything about Quigley.

On fire for my Premier-Division-and-League-Cup-winning Derry City team on FM2013. ;)

I'm fairly sure Quigley is now a fire man so doesn't know if he has the time to commit

Strange (and not overly positive!) that Rusty has issued legal proceedings. Can surely only mean that he's owed money? He said months ago that 2013 would be his last season; just surprised he hasn't found a new job at this stage tbh.

Would be very interesting to see how he would get on with a decent budget. His teams always seem to be well organised and he gets good performances out of average players.

His defences have been atrocious in recent seasons. "Well organised" is probably the furthest thing form the truth

Yup; harsh but fair. We have conceded an awful lot in the past two years in particular. We were "well-organised" under Pete Mahon (with a bigger budget and better players) but are nothing like that now.
Still reckon he's a decent manager though. Be interesting to see where he ends up and how he does.

Who is Martin Russell taking to court? UCD soccer club or UCD the college entity. Does the college help the soccer club financially as well as providing facilities free of charge? I remember UCD used to have a lot of players playing for them who were not students or ex-students and I assume that these guys were getting paid. I would like to see Aarron Callaghan back in the league as he attempts to have his team play proper soccer.

Shane O'Connor is a decent defender. Unless Longford are offering him good money I can't see why he'd drop a division and move until Bray situation is resolved.

Does anyone have an idea what the situation actually is? Is it just a matter of Devlin being let go and the rest acting up over it or what?

TC's current priority appears to be experienced defenders so it wouldn't surprise me if we were prepared to pay fairly decent money to get them. If Dempsey is to be believed most of the "Club X" players have heard nothing about next year so he may not be prepared to wait around much longer.

Shane is decent and would be a good signing for Longford, struggled with injuries in the past, would be known to Don O Neill and Davy and would commute with them as he is from Ashford in Wicklow. He may not be the last signing from Bray!

Danny Furlong has left Cork City and I'm very happy about it. I wish him the best wherever he goes, but he really didn't show the ability to play at the Premier Division level.

Waterford will have him you'd imagine. He'd be a good signing for them. Unless he goes back to the Yoofs.

He was club's young player of the year in 2011, but had played only half of league matches in the last two seasons.

Great to hear.
Marc Griffin released by Derry, I'm sure Pats and the 2 Rovers would be interested in that news. How is his relationship with Dundalk?

Marc Griffin I am not sure any Dundalk fan really cares about him anymore. There is no denying his ability but his attitude on and off the pitch stinks to the high heavens.
one of these people who think they have already made it to England before making the jump over.
afaik Sk offered him a contract last year that was rejected by Griffin, I am not sure if he would ask the same question twice
He had a chance last season to escape the goldfish bowl life around Dundalk albeit in Derry but from what I heard he was up to the same carry on as he was in Dundalk
too much of a liability for me

A team looking to challenge for the title won't be interested in Griffin. He has ability but his attitude and off field indiscretions negate that ability.

It's not too late for Marc Griffin but he is on borrowed time. He showed a lot of promise and scored bags of goals at youth level before bursting onto the scene in the latter part of the 2011 season. A wasted season in 2012 where his attitude was deplorable - to the casual observer the cracks got papered over by that fantastic goal of the season against Drogheda. 2013 in Derry seems to have been another waste of time for both player and club.
He is still only 22 but his attitude in the season ahead will determine whether his future lies in junior football or as a professional.

Both are reputed to be chasing him. Drogheda would be the most practical option for him financially.

Coll is from Donegal, there was a good deal of excitement in the local media up there when he first went over to Man Utd. Very few Irish lads are making it with the big clubs in England these days. However many players have had good professional careers after being let go by big clubs like utd. I remember watching Neil Lennon a few times at Crewe Alex the season after he was let go by Man City for example.

Coll was with Derry last season. Wasn't even second choice keeper. If his goalkeeping ability was half as good as his ego you'd have a world class keeper. Man Utd destroyed him. He was playing Donegal League last I heard. Wouldn't be worth signing for any LOI club.

Why have the PFAI him down as Man U if he was last with Derry and then playing in Donegal League? A bit miss leading if you ask me.
