4,500 for Bohs-Rovers is surley too high. There were about 2,250 in the Jodi (it holds 2,750 and was quite empty on the left) and I doubt Rovers brought that same amount.

We brought at least 2000 I would have guessed...
4500 sounds about right.

I hope he does. Because I said the Waterford attendance was 800-1000. You took the 1000 figure. So that shows me already you haven't any intention of trying to keep somewhat "accurate" figures.

do you know many the stand holds at full capacity?
It holds 800
Separately in relation to family tickets - do Sporting Franchise count an arbitrary figure of 4, when calculating their attendances, for every one they sell?
No. They use clickers to count the crowd

Rubbish. There were random people selling tickets at both Fingal games last year. On their own as well, so unless they can dish out tickets, change and click all in the one move that's not true.

I`d revise this down to 4,200 now.
That was my estimate for that game alright.

definitly more than 1000 at the game.... The extratime reporter is based in the press box on the dart side of the ground, how can he tell how many people are in the dart side stand?
I'd would have said 800 in the rehab bingo stand (tent) plus 350 - 400 around the ground, total of 1150-1200. To be honest was a decent crowd, i was only expecting maybe around 700 in total!!!

For our game there, they had someone tear a bit off the tickets as you go in so it should be easy to count them. I'm not sure what the procedure was for counting the number of season tickets holders who were at the game.

Eh, No its not rubbish, its a fact.
So random people(plural) but they where on their own(singular) OK:confused:
I suppose its impossible for a steward to do it as people come in:rolleyes:, There has never been just one person at the entrances. Lets not start making up stuff now just so you can have a dig.
Its different set up for when shelcrashandburn come to morton anyway. The away fans go into the stand on the far side. The away fans for other teams get a section in the seated stand. But if you want to believe we are just making up the numbers out of thin air by all means do. What ever keeps you happy.

I'd say he got it a lot earlier, only got home to post it at that stage:D
His post was at 3:58, but he edited it with the updated figure 45 minutes earlier, so he must have gotten the figure in that time. But he clarified it later. Just thought it was funny is all!
As far as UCD are concerned, and I'm sure this won't be an original idea, but have the club never thought of moving their fixture to Thursday night? More college kids about on that night after all
We played on Thursdays in 2001/02. Didn't do much really. Though arguably the half season we tried it wasn't long enough to notice any changes.
Has there being any major changes to UCD's attendances since they moved to the bowl?
The first few games of last season were almost all the biggest crowds we'd gotten for the respective games in the previous few seasons. Last season wasn't exactly conducive to building crowds!
He doesnt seem to be doing it,if it bothers him that im doing it then he can tell me to step aside and i will
I'm not on the internet most weekends, and also I wait for all the figures to come in before updating. It doesn't bother me particularly, but it is silly duplicating the work (and leaving out the averages, which is the most important thing), so there's no point you adding more stuff to the thread.

A few years ago i ran a food franchise in ucd and i offered free lunch to loi fans wearing their colours or producing a ucd ticket stub from the previos ucd home game,in a one month period i gave away six free lunches 3 pats fans and 3 of my beloved hoops brothers.its a graveyard always will be.
Interesting. I was there for most of the period that could be described as "a few years ago" but never heard of this. Would you be willing to give any more detail?

There could be an actual benefit for a club like UCD to do it
Dundalk had no reason bar hoping that some of the opposition's part time players couldn't get off work for the match

Also, there's no need to quote the whole post if you're only going to refer to one line.

What were you told about working purely off the Premier Division average?
There's no need to be hostile about it. CelticTiger may not have read the earlier discussion.
So, a short criticism of that comparison:
The clubs with lowest attendences happened to be relegated last year, and were replaced with one with high attendences. This means that the Premier division figures have received an artificial boost.
Also, the early games (particularly round 1) tend to be better attended than the average, so early season averages tend to be higher than they'll be at the end.
Also, there's no need to quote the whole post if you're only going to refer to one line.
This, I do completely agree with.

But we won't, because the attendance always falls away. Just the way.
John83
22/03/2009, 7:34 PM
If we can keep that 30% increase for the whole season then that would be an achievement
Okay, here's a figure that might mean something. Last year the average attendence for the league was 1,769 (http://foot.ie/showthread.php?p=904945#post904945) after 3 rounds. This year, it's 1,494. That's an overall fall in crowds of over 15%. It's not that meaningful - there hasn't been a full round of games played (i.e. 9 games in the Premier, 11 in the first), but let's not kid ourselves that everything's getting better.

Because that was an official figure.
Around 1600(or 1700) in the showgrounds I'd say. Poor enough.
No idea on the crowd but probably the worst crowd I've seen in Sligo. Decent away support

For the crack i just wanna do this....
Best clubs by travelling away fans
What you basing it on? Games in bray? Dundalk havn't played there in years?
Do Cork bring more to Bray than Drogs?
Or are you just plucking figures out of the air again?

Limerick - 576 (517; 670; 364; 669; 188)
I'm not sure what the "usual notes" are.
Does that 576 refer to our game against Athlone on Friday night? Or is our average attendance?
Attendance was announced as 626 (which I imagined would be the official figure, but I could be wrong), which was exactly 100 more than the previous home game against Mervue. I can't see either of those figures there.

The average of 526 and 626 (the figures you claim for your matches) is 576, so I'm guessing that he added those together and divided by two to obtain an mean (or "average"), those being the things he records.

Just because it's in extratime doesn't make it official.
I remember the old days when it was easier to get offical attendances. There was 52 people at a midweek Galway Utd home game once vrs Cork City back in the late 90's.I know there was that many because i was able to count them all at halftime:D.Its just not that simple anymore:p.

What advantage does this give them to exagerate attendances anyway. In fairness if you are going to exagerate crowds dont you think they would put them up a bit higher than they have.

So if we add like 50 or 100 on to the crowd like you are making out we are, that will make a big difference will it when it comes to showing we are viable:rolleyes:. And who exactly are we trying to pretend to.
Mate you dont know what you are talking about, you have been to two games against us and your basing your whole argument on that. I know our biggest crowd will be when you come to morton, whats that got to do with what we are discussing. Anyway, its not the crowds at the moment that pay our wage bill its the sponsorship , which is quite good by the way.
