Rovers average in here is 3,600
?? Surely it's at least 4,000..the last few or their games they had just under 6,000
It'll be interesting to see how their attendances fair next year now that the novelty of a new stadium has worn off...

It's a nightmare trying to get promoted from what is a very competitive First Division and genuinely difficult to go places like Monaghan and Waterford and pick up points.
Piece of cake, so it is. :)

Ehh yes and no. while it took us 7 years on paper charmingman, Dundalk fc where only competitive for the last 3 of them years. off the pitch debacles and mismanagement of the club made our stay there much longer than what should of been. Only since Gerry Matthews took over the club and got things right off the pitch that we where in a position to compete. unfortuneately when we where in a position Rover won it in 2006, threw it away in 2007 (losing to harps and cobh), and won it by the skin of our teeth in 2008.
If derry get off to a good start in the first then the crowds will come and derry should be able get a financial muscle to easily win the first. Prepare yourself for just a one line mention in the newspapers and possibly ignored by the national radio media

Already has in my opinion

How?
They will still be getting full crowds next year, and will soon start building a new stand behind the goal

Eh they were getting 5,000 to their last few home matches, it will only strat to wear off if the team starts the season badly

I said that the "novelty" of the new stadium had worn off. They wouldn't have been getting over 5,000 every game because of the new stadium, the main reasons being they were challenging for the league title & the Real Madrid friendly creating a surge in interest.

They could have put into a temp. stand for the Bohs game, there was loads of demand for it.
Maybe next year the Fingal, UCD games at home will not be sellouts, but Bohs, Cork, and Pats will defo be sellouts...assuming those teams will still be here come next season

I hadn't time to go through all 96 pages of this thread so...
Did the FAI actually publish attendance figures this year?
They are quoting attendance increases, but I can't seem to find any overall figure.

No, only Rovers and Cork as far as I know published attendances.

The average is up in the PD as stated here before.
The main reason is it's now a ten team league, UCD not being in it,Sham Rvrs new ground and a more competitive league.
I'm guessing it may reduce quite a bit next season with UCD and SP there now with the loss of ourselves.

Just as a matter of interest, I was at an Aussie A-League game this evening, and the attendance announced was only 6,307 (in a 52,000 seater stadium).

Will the biggest crowd puller be outside the premier Division next season? Harps v Derry?

Well if ye can create the same crowds that are in that video up on youtube then ye will be flying, I can see Shels v Derry getting a decent crowd! And if Limerick can compete this season then they may attract a few heads.

No, Rovers v Bohs with the new stand behind the goal will be the biggest crowd puller next year.

Yeah, Phase 3 will involve a new stand behind the goal at the car park end.Not being built right away i presume but in time.

They shouldn't expand unless they are consistently selling out. Don't want them to end up like Bohs or Shels using up 25% of their ground in 5 years.

When Pats have more fans than Rovers in Inchicore when they play each other we will start to worry about our attendences.
Oh you mean like when we brought more fans than Rovers to your 'home' match in Tolka last year, Short memories

I love the way Shams fans seem to have forgotten what sort of crowds they were getting as recently as last season...

They don't need to be competitive to attract a few 'heads'.

Wrong end.... Stand going behind goal at square and of ground.
You could be right on that, that would suit better for accomodating away crowd.
I also think they will be finishing the east stand up, the ends are not done yet.

Cobh and Harps weren't exactly propping up the attendances either. The fact of the matter is, attendances were down on average over the whole league, and only Rovers' move to Tallaght kept it from looking like a crisis.

Sure you're only down twice a year tops.

Sadly, I confidently predict that PD attendances next season will show a serious drop.

Why?
Every clubs situation is different, hard to predict imo.

Cork's average should be well down, and Fingal + UCD are likely to make for much lower average than Derry + Bray. Everyone else could go either way, but on balance, I'd be surprised if it's not down. The league average will probably be down too, though not so much.

Yeah but what if Corks situation improves before next season ?
Too much pessimism around the air, not doing the league any good, it's not just with the fans but with all the stakeholders, we all need to sit down and chat....

Elementary my dear Riddicule.
We've swopped Fingal and UCD for City and Bray.
Ergo - bar a major miracle, crowds will most probably go down.

Yep, but of course, the Premier Division average is irrelevant in the greater scheme of things. If the league average is down even though everyone's crowds are up, then that's good.
A more meaningful prediction would be that I reckon more than half of the clubs in the league will show drops in attendances, and that the overall league average will be down.

I would have though that they would have put the new stand on the opposite end, the shopping centre end, very spacious down there and doesnt look the best with a "field" behind the goals!

Exact same space behind both goals. The next stand will be at the shopping center end.
gotta love this inter-Wicklow rivalry!
