We really have to minimise the number of league games being played midweek. It destroys our already pitiful attendances. Bumping the Setanta back to midweek would be a good start.

I wasn't there obviously (washing my hair) otherwise I would know if it was in fact 50 or 70 or something in between. That was the guesstimate on the Extratime Matchtracker. Before you went all James Bond on us you should also have taken notice of my question marks after the figures suggesting that I was not aware of the excact number.

So what was the official attendance....or is it a secret? or if you tell me will you have to kill me? or just really low and you would rather not say?

Judging by games of ours when similarly silly attendances have been 'estimated', something between 150 and 300 would be likely.

Said 300 in the Star. Would have thought more myself but it's hard to judge someone else's ground.

We need to cut these out completely, mid week games will never work in this country, hard enough trying to get punters thru' the gates at w/e

Maybe for Cup replays, no choice there, but no point having 4 mid week lge programmes, it just wont work.

Soluton - at bank hol w/e's - have a double header, one game on the fri night and the other on the Mon afternoon, or start the season a week earlier/finish later.

201 at Fingal last night official attendance. It didn't look that big. 327 at Limerick v Waterford on Friday night which was poor too.

Some points on this. A shorter season saves clubs not paying 52 weeks a year, even if they have to have some crap gates. It is difficlut though for those paying 52 weeks a year.

Your solution has some validity, say for first round league games all fixed for a Friday night in March and second round fixed for the Monday. Still a mid week game, but with time to promote, plus early season enthuasism gates would be about average. For those playing home on Sat, make them play away Fri on 1st weekend. All away teams then would be home on Monday night and at home in round 3 of games for normal night.
Something similar then for Easter. Full round of games good friday night and easter monday.

Thanks Lamper.sffc. And thanks for the abuse in the PM you sent.

I was shocked at some of our attendances this season. It's not like Shels are pulling in the numbers Shams are and I am sitting on a high horse laughing at all below.

I just thought that less than 100 at the match last night would have been incredibly low considering the position Fingal could and did take up. And the fact that the An Post freebies are flying around and also the fact that you may have handed out freebies to schoolboy teams and their parents who may have been playing at half time.

50-70 i thought would be shocking. Simple as.

It was a poor night for attendance across the board and not just for Sporting so change the record lads, and i doubt if shels would have broke any attendance records if they played at home last night.

Have to agree about whats been said about mid week matches (especially when clubs have to go long distances mid week) - they should cut them out in the league imo.

Usually nearly forget about them myself!! Usually im buzzing for days before a match, but I forgot all about our match on tuesday, til monday night (and a lad at work who always goes to the matches was only reminded of it tuesday morning when someone said it to him !!)

F*** all buzz about them!

Champions league also clashes (not a reason to change it, but it is an additional factor!!)

In fairness to Rovers 1100 heading to Dundalk so far is fantastic, easily the best supported club both home and away by a long shot.Bohs must have the worst home and away support of any team that were ever challenging for a league title--2000 average home and 100 away??

Not a chance there were that many at the game. 1200 max.

I was outside for the hour beforehand and 80% of those that went in went through the An post voucher turnstile, which had a constant long queue. Very very few paid in.

Absolute rubbish.
The club sold over 4300 tickets before the gates were opened and they were taking money at the gates also.
So IMO it was in excess of 4500, probably about 4600.

Well thats bullsh!t because if you watched the match you could tell there was easily 4,500 people there, the paper never gets it right with LOI attendances either, and being 1,000 off is embarassing, just goes to show that they probably didnt even watch it. And besides, by yesterday afternoon there was about 4300 tickets sold.

Does the paper get this figure from the club?

Definetely way more than 3500 and the figures quoted in the papers and on extratime for rovers all season have been on the low side. Makes you wonder if someone is fiddling the figures?

1200? There was about 500 people in that stand first half. Second half most seemed to go home. Emptied a lot after h/t. And im guessing Bray didn't bring 700.
