The Jodi stand was about two thirds full whatever that holds and then another 250 Dundalk fans added on to that.
2748, so 2000 is your guesstimate.
this might be a stupid question (probably is!) but if Rovers' maximum safe holding capacity is 3300 then how come their average attendance is over that??
Was it not up here that the ground holds 3500?

Various figures were posted in the run up to the game, I think 3,300 was the first figure then 3,500 was given on the official Rovers website.
I'd say the average crowd taking away non-attending season ticket holders is probably around 3,350 allowing for a capacity of 3,500. Having said that there was about 4,000 at the first game.

I know it doesn't count in the averages but attendance at Athlone vs UCD in the EA Sports Cup was 105.

Jodi holds 2750 , so 2,000 at the match would be a reasonable estimate.

Btw thats about our average this season id say (dont know if youre missing official figures for previous matches - and couldnt be @rsed looking)
Alot of people (with kids especially) staying away cos of the prices - we were getting around the same attendances id say when last in division one

I recall a brief period on here when many people gave you the benefit of the doubt Cosmo. That was swiftly followed by most reaching the conclusion that you're an awful tool.
So thank you for taking this opportunity to remind us all again of just how poor quality a try-hard WUM you are..... :p
Good luck in the First Division now. Big kiss x

I'd have said about 2000 in Drogheda last night. The West Terrace looked pretty much full (at least the part under the roof) and must hold about 1000 (?) and there were decent crowds in the main stand and the away terrace.
But I never guess attendances so I'm open to correction. :)

No more than 100 at Monaghan V Wexford including about 30-40 from Wexford, for what was one of the worst games of football I've ever had the misfortune to witness.

That seems a bit high for your lowest of the year....
I'm gonna go for 1,400 in Richmond Park tonight, 200 langers.

2,000 would be my guess in the Showgrounds. 1600 main stand, 250 jinks avenue and and around 200 behind the two goals. 150 from Dublin.

In general our averages are overstated. Lasts season's end of year average was at least 300 too much imo.
Main stand - 1500
Arounf the ground - 150
Jinks avenue stand - 350ish
overall attendance 2000

I'd doubt there was many more than 800. Awfull crowd.
Mainstand holds 1,800 and i'd say it was just short of half full (800). You brought around 200 and I'd say there were 400 behind the other goal (It holds 1000 and there were more than one to a seat in parts).
Saturday night knocked a couple hundred off.

Not for me to tell Pats fans theitr own attendance but stand was not more than 1/3 full. Maybe 200 City fans & 300 Pats fans behind other goal. Overall would be surprised if more than 1000. Worst league I have seen there in a long time.

Fair enough...I still maintain my estimate but put it down as lower if you must. I'd be very interested to hear an "official" figure.
Don't think there's any chance there was much more than 1000 at the game last night. Awful crowd.

Worst attendance so far this season for us. Say there about 2000 at the game. Very disappointed with Galways crowd. For a team doing so well this season to take 11 fans to Oriel was poor. Well thats what I counted in the away section for both ground and stand!

Agree. Worst league I can remember
As for the crowd, I'll get the official number later. The guesses could depend on when you looked as at least half the people around me didn't come back for second half. The corwd for our game last year was a good deal lower too

I was talking to one of the lads who was at it and he said he didn't see any other Galway fans there!!!
Our away support is the worst in the Division - that said ourselves, Sligo, Cork and Derry have a much tougher job than all the other clubs to get decent away support week in week out with the distances we have to travel.

There was about 6 on the uncovered terracing and then another 5 sitting at the bottom of the stand designated for away fans! Trust me, I was very bored at times so I counted!

There could have been anything between 11-50 Galway United supporters at Oriel Park. Anyone with any cop-on would have keeping a very low profile.
Lets face it, after "Maxigate", the charm offensive by Dundalk supporters at Terryland, and Connors "attack all outsiders" article, United fans were hardly going to head over to the Shed with full colours to swop scarves !

They where hardly guna go into the Dundalk section and cheer if Galway scored where they? And I think upon buying a ticket at the ticket booth the accents would have given them away! There is terracing to the left of the stand for away fans and theres a section cordoned off at the bottom of the stand for away fans there where 6 people sitting at the bottom of it and either 4-5 on the terracing, 1 was a woman who was standing over by the bar smoking area on her own so it was kinda hard to tell if she was a local or a westerner!

I refute this.
You are tarnishing all dundalk supporters with the same brush. if for arguements sake there was a galway supporter sitting beside me i would of welcomed him to the ground had a chat during the game along with a bit of banter and shook his hand at the end & wished him a safe journey home. Yes we do have *****s who ruin the name of the club but our probems are no worse than any other club.

I accept your point that 99% of Dundalk supporters are decent people.
And that 99% of Galway United supporters don't go to away matches !
