Ah well then absolutely they'll get the points. It's an idiotic rule. But wouldn't surprise if Conlon was trying to find a way of screwing them over. Also, I think that if a team are found to have played an illegal player by The AUL then the game they played in should be awarded to the other team regardless of if they appealed it or not. Knocka should have got the points for that Cathedral game as soon as the AUL said they played an illegal player. Seems they like to have this superiority over everyone, "oh look we spotted this club cheating but you didn't so no points for you"
The fact the leagues will run deep into June is an absolute farce too. I think the divisional cups should be scrapped, serves no purpose when some teams start in the semi final. Obviously years ago before the league was mismanaged and lost over 50 teams they were a great idea. Get rid of the county and city cups too. Create one cup for teams division 1-3, The Mossie for Prem and Prem A and have the AOH for all then. This would reduce the fixtures and get us an end of May finish.
The most important thing is that the rules are applied consistently, people might not agree with them but as long as the correct procedures are followed as per the rule book set out at the start of the season there can be no complaints.
Not for one minute should any cups be scraped including the Corinthians Cup.
Winning silverware is hard done it’s vital to keep interest going in junior soccer that every team feels they have a realistic chance of getting a pieces of silverware every year.
If you remove the divisional and Corinthians Cup you make this very very hard for the lower ranked teams.
As lower ranked team especially in the lower divisions you will probably lack the consistency to challenge for league honours but a cup run at your level should be an achievable target.
Take this away and in my opinion you would lose more clubs and that’s the last thing the AUL needs.
The prolonged nature of the season is mainly due to the bad weather and the fact the most teams and infrastructural useless and don’t have the money or the drive to improve their facilities to help combat this issue.

Would definitely agree with this.
Should consideration be given to running cups later in season to keep teams interested, sure they be finishing up at same time as now anyway?
The gap between michaels cup semi and final and Henry healy semi/final was shocking.
Run them closer together from February maybe?
Obviously weather an issue but what happened to talk of aul block booking astros?
If they block booked dates teams that are behind on games could be made play to keep things even then?
Then again they may not want to upset certain teams and force them to play.
Obviously weather has been a huge issue this year but surely better organisation could be managed

UCC haven't anything to play for. Grattan and Coachford should win all their games easily. The game between them will be important depending on the appeal result.

Savage performance by village battering Grangevale 4-0, nothing to play for I know but good win to keep momentum ticking over before the big final

Great win for village. As of now the league will come down to Coachford/Grattan on final day great spectacle. Fellas on about points here for this and that, forget about it until they are given. In other leagues shock result of weekend for me was Loc Zarcos losing to Rathcormac on penalties.. thought they’d be in a good position with the league but fair play to Rathcormac great result. Some fellas on this forum are worried about just 2 teams at times..

Big news coming out of northside I’m hearing Aul screwed over Grattan they lost their appeal looks like their trying best to help coachford win it

I’m hearing City Wanderers went in and proved that the 2 players in question were registered and that their recent results stand but spin a story to suit the narrative Harsh. Grattan look to have a slight advantage over Coachford but playing for the draw could be dangerous , be a cracking game.

Agreed , big game to finish a boring enough season, Aul really need to try and make the league more competitive, can’t have it coming down to 2 teams every year. Hopefully Village progress more as they definitely going in the right direction under a good coach.

I only know what I’ve heard hear.
But the comet system is fairly fool proof you either registered or you’re not.
If they are illegal it’s easy prove.
I don’t see how there could be something going on.

Spot on Fruice, not exactly sure what went on as only going off what seen in here but i don’t see what the loophole could possibly be as Fruice said player is either registered or they’re not. It’s fairly black and white

Once again it all depends on what the findings by the AUL were.
There is a lot of “TALK” on here but nothing concrete so that one could say ya City Wanders are right or wrong.
You would need the full story

Ah stop the lights Fruice. The galacticos had a different team out every week.
Ye mad our what ! coachford will probably get the points!! even dho it was Notting to do with them coachford are well looked after ..and do the Aul want another cup in the Northside..castleview winning primer A knocknaheeny celtic Henry healy then grattan with the premier..and you might yet have village with aoh if the win be some year for Northside teams to be fear
I'd grattan get the points be alot pressure on coachford to win anything?
fruice
21/05/2024, 3:09 PM
Once again all talk nothing specific.
The rule book is clear and easy to identify an illegal player via FAI connect.
I ask again did Grattan lodge a protest against the original result?

Sad enough really. Down to business league to try pick up a few handy cups.. hopefully there better players don’t follow suit there is 2/3 lads there plenty good enough to play for a decent side.

A loss to the AUL they have put a lot of work in to become successful.
They will fit right in the business league no ground of their own and playing out of Mayfield will fit in seamlessly.
Be interesting to see what division they go?
