Well lads, all divisions looking interesting at the Christmas break.
Anyone like to change their predictions for winners and runners up in each division?

Aside from the obvious talk on here abut prem and Prem A the past few weeks, some very close lookin leagues to date in div 1, 2 & 3

Watched the first half of village game myself thaught it was even enough.
Glenthorn need to get Colum Forde togged out again because they are struggling to score goals. Stephen Longs touch for village up front was impeccable fair play to him to still be plugging away.
Pitch looked well I was shocked Grattan game was off. Next up now is the winter merry go round….who will be going where in the January sales.
In fairness to glenthorns club member they usually have that pitch in great condition the only downside is how small it is, colum hasn’t played in years, anybody know the story with Fintan he was with them start of the season but hasn’t played in a few weeks, he’d be a great boy for a goal up top

and yes longy was excellent fair play to him playing at such a standard at 50

A Cork team will always be up against it in the FAI Junior Cup. There are lots of teams in it from Limerick, Waterford, Tipp etc who are MSL standard but as they don't have a Senior League, they are in the FAI Junior Cup. Paddy Power betting on the cup reflects the strenght of the teams left. This year the favourites for the FAI Junior Cup are Cockhill Celtic who played in the Intermediate Cup final v Rockmount in April. As the Ulster Senior League is no more, they now play in the Junior ranks. Who would beat them ?? You are coming up against ex LOI players etc the further you go in the competition. A great experience for a Cork AUL team but it can be an extremely tough one the further you go in the competition. Grattan and Grange Vale are the only 2 teams from Cork in it and both AUL at that. Well done to them for achieving this but they wont get near a last 8 or anything like that. Teams will be too strong for them. Not their fault , its just the calibre of teams in it.

@ Peter Swan , the Grattan B game was played up on Mayfield Uniteds astro.

But your version of events dose make a better read if I was an Abalougeford fan.

The Fai draw is a tough , good luck to both

One of the best intermediate teams in the country never mind junior in Cockhill Celtic. You’d wonder how motivated they are to win a junior cup when they are so full of talent and used to playing a level above.

Grattan will be up against it with that away game in limerick but absolutely nothing to lose for them.

Special mention to Castleview, a team that very little fancied to win the league let alone be (arguably) the team of the year at the half way point.

In fairness now Goal, Ref just gave his opinion in a respectful manner. No need to lower the tone.

There's probably half a dozen teams who have had good starts.

Opinions draw opinions , that's the nature of the game .

hearing from a buddy in glenthorn Adam Lee is gone to grattan, glenthorn are poor but Adam is a brilliant player, his firepower up front with the rest of that Grattan team I can’t see them being beaten

He’s nice lad but needs to learn to pass the ball takes to much all the time he do that with Jonny Sull above in Grattan he was last long.

JP, Bull and Hawkins very good players already, add him and that's some fire power in the big games. Any teams jacked it in would get destroyed. He has a short fuse but I guess going for trophies and lads around him keep him in line. Will Glenthorn be able to get lads in? Looks like them, Corkbeg and Wanderers for 2 down.

Desmond from Watergrasshill on the Cork senior hurling panel today, assume he won’t be playing soccer in the new year. Big loss.

31/12/2023, 11:01 AM
Heard from someone in Watergrasshill over the summer there was a good chance he would get called in with Cork.

I suppose probably part of the reason he didn’t go Senior in soccer.

But on playing with Cork no assurances it will work out.

Be a big loss for them their whole gameplan is based around him.

Could well blow div 1 wide open for that second promotion spot.

Desmond will be a big loss. Will all depend on if he makes the league panel for Cork Early days but with the rain that's fallen last few days I would imagine the only games actually going ahead this weekend will be any on astro if any.. That Lee lad a great footballer be a huge addition to Grattan wonder if he would be cup tied for the Regional game

Some farcical ones lately.

Casey is rejoining Coahford I was told Saturday , end of January.

Got a great laugh out of me. Rockmount are still in the intermediate I said an furthermore he played with 2 clubs all ready this season so that's that. Go back out to the lounge an finish your lemonade an crisps fella.

Can he not play for 3 clubs given one of the clubs played in the calendar year?

Jason Bourne
03/01/2024, 8:38 PM
No that's no a runner

You can sign for 3 an play for 2 , that's it.

ie , register for say club A , register for club B an play , you can then resign for club A only.

So as per rule , sign for 3 , play for 2.

An before anyone asks, even if you are registered for a club and don't play , you still require a transfer an then that's say Club A.

Hope this helps

Your bang on there Jason but that take me back to the debate we be having here for weeks so this is just a point I’m making not a dig but if a player from castkeview aul team decide to leave this window and sign with one of their neighbours and he’s after playing with Castleview aul team and castleview senior team won’t that player be playing with 3 different teams in one season so that rule then that the aul stand by is wrong would ye not agree this is not as a said dig at view I’m just stating that a player can play with 3 different teams in one season.
