Jordon Tallon signs for Treaty.

Seemed to be a fan favourite last year but got a raw deal from Keddy this year it would seem.

Pats are linked with Matt Healy who's been on loan to Cork from Ipswich up till now. He’s been a free agent since Saturday when his Ipswich contract ended. Cork still trying to sign him on a permanent too as are other clubs according to the Examiner

Wassim Aouachria joined Galway.

Very surprised at this one tbh. Had a good couple months when he came in last year, but he never really got going this year and didn’t kick on as he was expected to either. Best of luck to him, but the chap quite clear has an attitude problem. Wasn’t part of the managers plans but threw his dummy out of the pram and announced himself publicly on social media he was leaving. Best of luck to him but Galway fans are going to be in for a shock when he’s not the Messi they are expecting.

Who says Galway United fans are expecting him to be Messi? This is a small league, we all play each other 3/4 times a season and you get plenty of time to see what a player is like. He will give us different qualities to Walsh, he's got a decent frame, strong, can finish... Walsh is more of a grafter and battler. I'm not expecting any miracles from Wassim, but I think he will be a decent addition.

It's hard for him to get any minutes when Coughlan is playing so well.

I was really impressed with Achouria in the 0-0 draw at the Cross late in the season. Hes a very powerful number 9. Bullied our defenders all night.

The fan reaction on social media and the official Galway pages stated he “earned” a move to Galway. Is where the messi comment came from. The comments indicate there is high expectations there. I was really happy we retained him for this season but I’m also happy to see him leave, unfortunately it didn’t work out. Left here on decent terms no bad words to say about him, best of luck to him.

According to transmarkt he played 13 games (450minutes) this season, outside the first game of the season he scored 1 goal in 12 appearance (open to correction). I’m just surprised Galway went for him but tbh I feel like there’s huge lack of strikers and goalkeepers in the league right now. He showed a lot of promise last season but never kicked on this year. I’d high hopes and expectations for him this year unfortunately it didn’t go to plan. Be interesting to see how he gets on.

I was the same when Waterford beat us in the cup last season, watched him and wished we had him up front. Expected him to tear that league up this season, funny old game.

I wouldn't be paying too much attention to the posts that our social media team make tbh... I saw the press release and thought it was cringe myself. A badly worded tweet across the board really. "Goal involvements", "earned a move" like as if we're Barca, and of course the usual pandering as gaeilge to top it off.

Have to say I always find it funny how stats can be twisted to suit people's narrative. He scored a hattrick in the opening game of the season, did that game not count as part of the season or something? :)

For example its also possible to flip the narrative and say Aouachria scored 4 league goals this season despite only starting 4 games. 4 league goals in 450 minutes means he’s averaging a goal every 112 minutes this season which is still an impressive rate. As is the 17 goals in 34 games he scored for Waterford in total

If he has any aspirations to manage in England I think now would be the time to take an opportunity like that. Big club, just missed out on the championship last season in the playoff final, plus the way things are going at Derry having them in third place with the budget they have, he might not get an opportunity like Barnsley again. I understand obviously it’s been a difficult year for him with his brother passing and he may not want to move away from family at this time though which would be understandable too

Seen some Derry fans would be happy if he was sacked after the Shelbourne game. Perplexed about him getting a role in England, considering he is hardly doing a stellar job in this league. Strikes me as someone who could be highly competatent in football outside of a managers role though.

Seems very conservative in games, just happy not to lose, and I never liked that he did not go all out for the league last year. I also have limited sympathy for Derry about injuries. You cant be surprised to sign a lot of players with signifcant injury histories and for them to end up injured a lot (Duffy being the unlucky / unforseen one). Sure take a chance or two, but it's just bad planning to have persummedbly majority of your budget tied up with players who might miss significant parts of the season.

Maybe we're the ones getting old and out of touch with the kids these days! ;)

I don't understand your anti-Irish sentiment though, I always like to see that acknowledged and as we do have many native Irish speakers among our support I don't see why we wouldn't give a cursory nod to them.

I was really impressed with Aoucharia last season at Waterford and I definitely thought he could step up a level. He wouldn't do anything like the work Stephen Walsh does and with the lack of chances we've given to Rob Manley I don't see how it's going to end up any different to that signing and he'll just change from sitting on the bench with Waterford to sitting on the bench with us.

I don't think so... it was a badly written tweet fullstop. It was like it was done by somebody that just doesn't get football at all, and it was always going to be ridiculed.

Particularly the "earned" part, Waterford were happy to let him leave and released him. It's not like we made them an offer they couldn't turn down and he was making a huge step up to sign for us.

Who uses the term goal involvements in a tweet like this? If you're going to reference something along that lines for a striker, just say how many goals he's scored.

I don't have an anti-Irish sentiment at all, I have an anti-pandering sentiment. It's rife at the club and we seem to latch onto anything we can. Writing the odd message here and there in Irish, changing the name for Seachtain na gaeilge, no problem. Cringe stuff like changing the clubs name on Twitter to Gaillimh Aontithe illustrates this point well. There are a few things you should not alter at a club, your name, crest, etc. That's just one example, there are many.

Bit of a left field one. Played for Treaty in 2021 where he was second choice to Red Hanlon. Worked very hard off the bench but didn't show much ability to hold up or score goals.

Not excusing Treaty's part, but did Billy not do similar by telling the media that they were trying to sign Ethan Kos before the club announced it themselves?

I don’t have any narrative, I simply wasn’t impressed with him this year. Wass is a nice fella, well respected by the fans and didn’t leave on bad terms by any means. Best of luck to him. I didn’t ignore the first game I mentioned it. I had high hopes for him this year and the first game of the season added to that and unfortunately it didn’t happen. I’m sure there’s many a member in here that have seen their clubs sign players mid season they hit the ground running the next season it never gets going. I’m not saying he’s a bad player, I’m not saying he isn’t good enough for Galway. I’m not saying he won’t kick on at Galway. I’m just surprised Galway signed him. Don’t get me wrong his stats look great on paper. But his performances weren’t particularly great this season and his season never materialised after the first game imo. He started the season as our main striker. And was very quickly benched. Makes you question what his performances on the training ground were like this year especially when the new management went in there.

Despite not being impressed this season. It’s understandable Galway have taken a chance on him. He showed promise in a short spell last year, didn’t reach the same heights this season but he’s still young a free agent and there’s a striker drought in the league right now. I wish him the best and I hope he goes on to have a good career.

Wass had so much respect from the fans, there was fully grown men on social crying about the management not giving him a runout in the last game before he was released. The management is “disgusting” apparently for not playing a player that had publicly announced himself he was leaving. He’d such respect there were fellas carrying on like he was at the club for 10 year. Crazy carry on, I’ve seen locals dedicate years to the club get abused.

Our fanbase is in a bit of a weird place to be totally honest. Some of the newer fans have a bit of a blindsight view, and far too high expectations for a club in the LOI first division. Come out with bat**** crazy comments on a regular occurrence. Fellas coming out with conspiracy theories and everything. You see more chat on the fans forum group on Facebook when we lose then when we win, kinda have to avoid it sometimes.

Ethan Kos's signing was different and revealed on the manager's terms. The club had their own ideas on how they wanted to announce Coughlan's return. A bit more spice in new rivalry.

I think this is one of the issues with all the new fans coming in to the league. Older fans are pretty much hardened to teams and clubs routinely being a mess and know this is cyclical in League of Ireland. New fans seem to come in from watching Premier League where everything is completely blown out of proportion and dramatised. We've won every home game this season but I would be 99% sure the next time we don't win a home game there will be some fans who will boo the team off!
