I was just looking up Chesterfield's website to see if Eoin Doyle was playing today a nd spotted the attendance was 6,500 but they also put what the away attendance was which was 80 people. interesting , its a pity they dont give away attendances for a l.O.I games. Some I reckon would be less than ten. For the record Chesterfield beat Accrington Stanley 1.0 and Doyle was a 70th minute substitute.

No Harps fans in Longford because we've absolutely jack all to play for in the League and are now down to 3rd from bottom with Wexford beating Salthill.

Definitely a good point, I been tracking Dundalk's crowds for a good number of years now, and for the those awful 7 years we spent in the FD last time, a lot of the away support was often zero. It really was only noticeable as we began to challenge, our crowds increased, then during games when we when conceded a goal, you could hear a pin drop.
Totally unconnected, but I read in Argentina this season, away crowds are banned, due to hooliganism.

That was about 2,200, which wasn't bad but Drogheda are not really traveling in great numbers this season.

probably around 300 tops for the bray v ucd game. Sh!t game and its no wonder both teams are down in the relegation battle. We are terrible and wont be srprised if we get relegated and then will probably go out of business unfortunately.

Are UCD more or less safe now? Unless they lose all their games, it will take a lot of effort to cede 6 points to Shels and 5 to Bray. Bohs I think will be fine because they have the players to win matches.

i have to say that in my heart of hearts that there was close to 4k in OP tonight.
There should be no reason why the figure given is incorrect. Granted they got one wrong this season, the second Rovers game, but that has been explained, was an admin error from the ticket office. There will be the usual non paying in groups, and this will get bigger the bigger the game is, for eg they are hardly going to ask Liam Buckley to pay in, or his colleague who were there tonight. Media, sponsors, paid and unpaid workers all add up, but the club will only announce the number that paid in, and this is common practice.
EDIT, I am hearing cash was taken on one of the stiles just before kick off, possibly to ease congestion, not sure if these numbers were added to the tickets that were sold/scanned, but we have to go with the figure they reported and assume these were added to the total of 3,324.

There was a huge queue to get in just before kick off and the big gate to the side of the stand was opened and cash taken. I doubt that was factored in to the attendance really so there could have been a lot more there than was reported. There are also quite a few people who get in without paying for various reasons and a lot of the time they aren't issued any ticket. I would guess there were at least 3 or 400 more than was reported.
Either way it's a fantastic attendance for a Sunday evening game.

i have to say that in my heart of hearts that there was close to 4k in OP tonight.
Stand full, Shed beyond the covered areas filled, 5 min terrace busy, and the first time in years that there were numbers standing behind the Town End goal, good travelling support; it is hard not to think that attendence wasnt pushing closer to 4k - no argument with official figure, Oriel is just hard to gauge support wise?
I still say 3,364 would be correct, as I'd imagine they added the overspill of the late qued up fans who were given the option to pay in cash around 6.55pm to the final total. Also the figure for media, sponsors, guests, paid and unpaid workers would prob be around 200, these are quite rightly not included as they dont pay in, so poss 3,500 but 3,364 would be the figure to record. Remember the stand has reduced seating now of 1,000, I was at the top, most but not every seat was taken, but you're right about the Shed, I've never seen this new version Shed so full, it was lenght to lenght filled. The '5 mins' terrace is a local nickname to the new uncovered seating area, to the right of the stand as you would see from TV or from the Shed. This looked well full also, and good point about behind the town goal, thats not an area that is usually 'busy'
Dundalk's total attendances are just under 30k now for the year to date (28,292) and to compare this to last year, it is almost double with 3 home games still to play. Last seasons total was 15,200.

It's weird how empty it always looks in the terrace from the other side but any time I'm down there it feels like a decent enough crowd.
Our crowds are understandably bad as our performances (Barr the other night) have been shocking at home at times and there are very few people that stick with the club through thick and thin.

Was funny at the start but is now getting really annoying. Haven't commented on it at all but will now just so it can hopefully be put to bed.
Wasn't at game but spoke to a number of people on the committee during it and not any of the supporters posting here. General consensus was two thirds of stand Athlone and whatever was behind goal at gate. So can be worked out from there.
In fairness seeing as we are on the brink we should be bringing that many to the next game in Salthill with 2000 plus at Waterford game a week later with a few more for the last game against Longford if we are to truly develop as a club if promotion gained. €40,000 plus in the kitty from gates from the last two home games would be a nice war chest going forward especially running 3 under age teams during the close season.
