I see on Facebook it says Danny Furlong to Waterford on loan. I presume they are paying his wages or at the very least a big percentage of it. Surely if its true after the fans having to help bail the club out the last thing they should be doing is bringing another wage into the club?
There's just no telling with the guys running that club. There certainly seems to be an element of promotion or bust to the way they're going about things.

There's seemed to be a stronger element of bust or bust so far.

They did try to threaten the FAI last year to put them up or they would pull out of the league last year!!
Willie John Kiely was tweeting the other day that he was still owed 4k. Can't imagine he'd be over the moon hearing more players are being signed unless he has already been settled with.

If WJK hasn't got his money I can't understand why he isn't pursing the club for it. Surely they shouldn't be allowed sign players until old wages are settled.

The response by the WUFC Twitter account to such concerns was, and I quote "we also have to run a football club that plays football and you need players to do that."
Apparently they've released one or two lads in the last week which has freed up some financial space.

Behan spotted in Luigis in Longford tucking into a dinner box, portion of onion rings, battered sausage and a large chocolate milkshake. Could he be signing on at the CCS?

Could be - sounds like he's in pre season anyway. Ryan Connolly who is going on loan to you is a decent player.

Can't say I've seen him play but time will tell. I just hope he likes long ball football cos that's what he'll be playing under Cousins.

Jaysus. There'd have to be a bit of money changing hands for that, surely?

Yea I love how at the end of the press release they have stated how due to recent player releases the wage bill remains the same despite Furlongs arrival.

Kavanagh out, Behan out, Furlong out. Tommy must have something up his sleeve cause he is only left with Kilduff and Morrissey now as strikers.

Kilduff who has scored as many goals in five games than the other three combined all season. Can't see who Cork would bring in to replace them, Elding maybe?

He must be looking to England if hes letting them all go near the deadline with no apparent replacements ready.

Has Dunne got any real contacts in England? As far as I can see, the only players he's signed from there are Corkonians and the lad from England who had legal problems a couple of years back.

Someone from England or another loan move to be announced is the only explanation. That or he has totally lost the plot.

Looking like it'll be confirmed tonight or in the morning.

Any idea what's going on on the Cork end? I know Kavanagh hasn't had a good season for you but you're still leaving yourselves very short.

Think with Kavanagh they needed him off the wage bill, on big money by all accounts and the other three just weren't upto it but city need two strikers in quick or there gonna get sucked deep into a relegation battle.

We are indeed .it looks like a very worrying end to the season for city.
I don't think Tommy is cut out for premier division management at all .

Roddy tried to sign Danny Ventre on loan as per today's Mirror.

I beg your pardon? Christ, we were looking at him pre season, is he not getting game time at all these last few months? I think he was one of the last to re-sign, was he not?

There was rumours before the season that Ventre was supposedly moving to Harps. He's not getting a lot of game time at Sligo and a loan move would be good for him. Athlone are on the up, and a push for promotion might get him back into the swing of things.

Acted the maggot with regard to his contract - tried to sign while injured and now can't get a game. Won't get into the side ahead of Cawley and won't get a contract next year so he might as well move. Had a terrific season last year but that was his first decent season.

Ventre got injured while on trial in England in our off season. Has not been the same player since. It flared up again a couple of months back. He is back training with us again but he has a lot of work to do between now and the end of the season if he has any thoughts of getting a contract next year.

Apparently Kavanagh had a few bust ups with Dunne and that's why Cork are letting him go.
There has been a mixed reaction among Pats fans about the signing, I'm personally a big fan of his. I just hope he is not coming in to replace Forrester who could be gone by the end of August.

I really don't get all the hype over Forrester. Anytime I've seen him play he's never stood out as someone who could make it a a higher level. Few nice goals and fancy flicks every so often but have never really seen him play a consistently high standard (yes I do realise that if he stays he'll score the goal to win the league against us at towards the end of the season........)

He has great potential though. Just look how well Paddy Madden, Shaun Williams and Kevin Dawson have done in the lower leagues. He could head over to league one or championship and really improve in my opinion. If Conor Sammon can make so can Forrester.

Agree with ya there, maybe he needs to bulk up a little though.

I used to think that as well but I think he's just one of those rake-thin guys who's actually quite strong, eg Peter Crouch. We all played against them in school, lads who are 90% elbows.

He's been plagued with a leg injury most of this year. Still as good a defensive midfielder in this league as anyone else on his day.
Far, far too good for the First.
