True but I also would have said cork are fairly strong in midfield and centre back.

Ya but its a long season and you need strenght and depth, plus it he wants to use the 451 option then Darren is the perfect holding midfielder

So I take it Vinny Faherty is due to be announced with Dundalk soon.

Ha !! well possibly, there was a mention that the deal could be back on, mentioned in local paper, The Argus, yesterday.

Supposedly Derry have finally signed Griffin?!:

Transfer News: the longest transfer saga in the LOI this close season has finally come to an end as Derry hve finally completed the signing of Mark Griffin; still no news on whether Derry hve agreed a compensation package with Dundalk or if they're going to a tribunal.....jp/Derry

Midfield is probably the one place we don't need an addition but I guess if true Tommy feels it's not worth turning down Murphy. It's certainly our strongest position though.

well he was hoping to sign Garry Buckley but that doesn't look likely now so maybe Darren Murphy can replace him.

We actually don't have that many central midfielders. Healy, Duggan, Morrissey and Lenihan at the moment. A 5th wouldn't be that excessive.

i believe buckley has signed a deal just not confirmed yet..healy duggan and morrissey were excellent the other night .duggan needs to be better than last year were he was terrible...the big bonus for cork will be dan murray the man is fitter than 5 years ago looks class act again and in shape.goalkeeper will be the death of cork....

After all the bull**** coming out of the Brandywell over the last 8 weeks.......

"Derry City Chairman Philip O'Doherty refused to confirm whether the two clubs had reached agreement on compensation or if the case will be taken to tribunal"

I wish Griffin the very best of luck. He could go in one of two directions - sensational and attract a cross-channel move (attitude of 2011), or could bomb out completely (attitude of 2012)

He was supposed to have refused to go out on loan. There seems to have loads of different stories about what happened.

There are loads of stories some make it out to be Galbraiths fault others say it was Nutsy being a clown. We will just have to wait and see what way his attitude is with us.

Galbraith gamble Steven bradly tracey not a bad midfield hopefully another 3 or 4 more to come in getting there slowly.

Agree he seems a bit of a risk, but calling him 'Galbraith gamble' already is a bit much.

Limerick as I expected bringing in players from the UK in order to be competitive. I would expect Scotish Premier standard players (if only for short period) to be good enough to secure at least mid-table (6-7) position for Limerick this year. I am surprised than more Irish clubs do not make use of the loan systems, from English clubs.

Apparently Barraclough is quoted in the Championie today that we have signed him, 'six foot two and full of muscle' sounds like a risky signing of if indeed he has signed, I wouldn't trust the Champion to light my fire.

Harps have Lee Toland http://www.nufc.co.uk/page/Teams/AcademyPlayerProfile/0,,10278~2227523,00.html on trial.

He's been back for a while now. Had a serious knee injury and has left Newcastle. Looks a good player.

Ya as Tomas says he can be very lazy. He is really talented though. He doesn't want to get involved in the tough tackles etc.. but chips in with crackers. I thought the premier would suit him having a bit of space to take players on. His younger brother from what I was told is as good if not better and is with our under 19's.

Thats the issue, the deadline for players moving between clubs in the country was this week(is it today), not sure if that includes loan deals. Clubs can however sign free agents at any time during the season. I think if his contract was cancelled there is still an issue that he was with a club at close of transfer window and cant move to another club, similar to Gary Pigg's contract running down with Rovers and then he couldnt play for Portadown until the new year.(even though thats a cross border transfer)

Think the deadline was the 22nd. Not sure about loans, but if we cancelled his contract after the end of the window he couldnt sign for another club until the window opened again. If he had had his contract cancelled before the window closed he would be free to sign for anyone.
