David o Leary from limerick to cork by the end of next week, will be a big loss to limerick, one of there more consistent players of last season.
Is he a winger or a centre mid? We definitely need someone who can play on the left.

Central midfielder. Probably Limerick's most impressive player last season in the 4 games I watched against them.

Bisto will run riot in the first division, quality player

Did you miss the bit where I posted the link on Pats website that he's signed back for 2013? Or is he going on loan, that'd be odd.

Hardly unprecedented though. Didn't Pat's sign up Shane Guthrie and then immediately loan him to Dundalk for the season a couple of years back?

What's the story with him this season?? Staying with Limerick?

David is a centre midfielder, quality little player, pulled the strings in the limerick midfield last year out shining Bradley and gamble.

O'Leary is quality. I hope to god we hold onto him. He is under 23 though and been with the club since 17. He was also offered an equal if not better contract so I think Cork will have to pay us compensation. He is from Cork though so understandable if he doesn't hang around for us and takes a deal with his home town club.

I don't think he's signed for anyone yet. Supposedly a few of the Limerick squad are waiting to see who's in charge next year before making any decisions.

would Flood do a job for us in the first division ?
Played very well for us for the first half of the 2010 season. Was a big loss when he left. Without doubt he should do a job for Athlone in the First Division.

Can't see Flood going for it. He's been tweeting about the Setanta Cup draw and how he can't wait for the new season. Doesn't sound like a man planning on dropping down a division.

That would be way beyond odd.

There is a case for loaning an emerging young player out to get first team experience (like Paddy Madden from Bohs to Shels a few years ago or Lorcan Shannon from Shamrock Rovers to Dundalk for the latter part of last season), but rarely will you see an experienced player being signed on a season long contract and then immediately loaned out

This was one of the rare cases - it seems to have been motivated by a changing budget, or at least changing budget prioirities by Pete Mahon at St Pats at that time

Depends on whether Athlone are willing to post his €100,000 release clause I suppose.

Bisto would be a great signing for Atlone. Think O Donnell to Dundalk would also be a great move by Kenny, a good quality midfielder (not many of them in the LoI these days)

This goes back to what I said last week - if Limerick don't get a manager soon they will have no chance next season. Players are leaving or signing with other clubs. There won;t be anyone decent to sign if they don't move it on. A lot of talk of big names and big grounds to play in and even money to spend but no movement yet. Getting worried.

Yeah, not a changing budget, but rather freeing up some of the existing budget (to sign Anto Murphy (again))

Flood is one of only 3 strikers Pats have (in an almost full squad). Unless we sign a couple of replacements I doubt he'll be off.

The loan signing from Pat's is 19 year old centre half Kevin Farragher, according to today's paper.

Also in talks with an experienced left back, and hoping to get in another striker, who is currently under contract at another club.

Anto Flood's nickname.

I used to know why as it was in our programme once. But can't for the life of me remember.

Plus he's dead to me after 'that' red card.

I got the nickname "Bisto" from my uncle Christopher. His nickname was "Bisto" and my old manager as a kid knew him very well and he called me it one day and it stuck, so I got it from my uncle.

The wiki says he's coaching in Azerbaijan at the moment.

There's a great autobiography to be written from some player or manager who's been around a variety of unusual countries, I think. Rivaldo must have some great stories from his career, having played in for Barca and Milan and in Brazil and Turkey and Greece and Uzbekistan and Angola. I've not seen such a book though. Niall Quinn touches on a trial in Malaysia, and Ronnie Whelan more or less ignores three years in Cyprus and Greece. If there's a book like that out there, let me know!

The club aren't picking him so presumably Baraclough has worked with him in the past/knows him so would be more of a surprise if he had picked some Irish person.

I bumped into former Grimsby stalwart Dave Booth when he was managing Myanmar, and ex-Millwall player Steve Constantine when he was in charge of the Indian national side. But the one I found most interesting was when I was at an Asian Champions League match. I thought one of the Dalian Shide (China) coaches looked familiar. Turned out to be Jimmy Rimmer - a long way from his ill-fated European Cup final appearance.

You can just leave the "(again)" part out on future announcements since the club has instituted a strict policy of only signing former players.

Reynolds was kennys assistant in his first spell at Derry also I think, and from what I remember they were pretty successful, he would have kicked his mother when he played but a really nice guy off the pitch, best of luck to him

Yes,

One of my favourite players for us ever, he was an absolute maniac in the middle of the pitch but nothing got through him.

Remember him getting very heavy stick from our fans when playing with/managing Waterford. Some really choicely-worded chants. But everyone hated him because he was good.
