Oh yeah. He's ok. Solid if not spectacular. Not the worst left-back I've ever seen for us. (That'd be Enda Stevens, bizarrely...!)

thanks Stuart.

Also rumoured to have Chris Lyons signed...any thoughts?

Fine by me!

Actually, its quite refreshing to be signing average players and not relying on finishing first to lose millions - instead we're relying on finishing mid-table to break even! Pretty good stuff.

We sold Touchy Feely to Charlton and are getting apparently 50k plus add ons for him which is a good bit of business for us. Not a bad business model in fact. UCD had the right approach all this time.

I was away most of this season, so don't really know much about Lyons. Did well on his debut up in Derry last season - should have scored very soon after he came on - and did score on his home debut I think. Since then, not a huge amount afaik.

Slightly concerned we're losing players to the likes of Bohs - granted, Aaron and Terry there helps lures players, I'm sure - but there's presumably always another batch of new players that other clubs are ignoring.

I wouldn`t be too perturbed id I was a UCD fan, some really good young players just waiting for their chance, I am told.
Surprised that no move made for Mc Millan, looks like a natural goalscorer.

He's not really. He's strong and works hard but everything has to be to his feet. most teams in this league play the ball ahead of strikers and he appears unwilling/unable to do this. Slows everything down when it comes to him. Has a terrific shot though

Good to see Moore staying at one of the big clubs as I always thought that he had great potential. He needs now to become more consistent however.

Ya.
Still a bit of thong and cheek about how rugby crowds versus football crowds have been treated in the same stadium before. For those of us who enjoy a few beers beofre a game its a relevant enough question.

No beer at soccer games is because of UEFA not the FAI.
The IRB and ERC have no such issues.

I noticed myself at the Cup Final/Greece game that soccer fans are treated differently to the rugby crowd in the same stadium. I suppose this is due to the authorities viewing the soccer fans as coming from a lower social class, and that they can't be trusted to hold their liquor as well as those from AB class. It will be interesting to see if this distinction is made down in Limerick.

It definitely will.

Despite the fact every knacker and scumbag in Limerick now goes around wearing Munster gear football is still looked down upon by a lot as knackerball and is in a lot of peoples eyes supported only by knackers and thugs.

I would think alcohol will be available but like at other soccer events you will have to drink away from the pitch (not that anybody did in our last game of the season in Jackman).

The first year Thomond Park was re-opened alcohol was actually band from the seated area for Rugby matches and could only be drank at the bars in the stand. There was war over it though and it was changed.

If Pat O'Sullivan appoints Phil Brown or Peter Taylor or some high-profile name, do you honestly think he'll be happy just to survive in the Premier?

Well he said he wants someone that can work well with bringing through our under 19 players and if the manager they interview isn't interested in promoting from within the club they don't want them. If they re talking about bringing players through then they can't be expecting a top few finish.

I would be highly surprised if we finish in the top 5.

I'd bite off your hand for a mid table finish here and now. I detect an almost sullen undertone from a minority of posters here (not necessarily in this thread) that most Limerick fans aren't predicting widespread glory and success for next year.

nigel-harps1954
03/12/2012, 2:55 PM
In fairness, I'd imagine a high profile name is to attract a few extra bums on seats in Thomond too. If someone like Phil Brown can come in, and bring in a few players with big time experience in England then that'll surely attract an extra 500 through the turnstiles.

I don't know about Limerick fans, but if there was that sort of interest around Harps at the minute, I'd be delighted.
